didn't ever hear a word insurance paid me 14,000 today they appraised it at 37k Sucks. my fault for not having collector car insurance but i wasn't eligible for that until i hit 25, which was 2 months ago

interesting i'm getting a little insurance $$ from it, so i might buy the craftsman anyways but i'll definitely take a look at them, first i love those ratcheting flexible wrenches from craftsman, the ones that lock those are first on my list to get back

Yea, simple request When my car was stolen last month, they also got my huge tool box in the trunk Probably $5,000 in craftsman tools and miscellaneous stuff any suggestions on where to start rebuilding? i usually stick to craftsman stuff - easy to replace and accumulate sets I'd like to find one of the larger socket/ratchet sets to start with
  4. +1 for this man When i was little...you could go to McDonalds and get a fish or chicken meal and actually see that you were eating fish or chicken The fish patty was in the shape of *gasp* a filet Now, if i'm forced to eat the square that they give...i make damned sure that I don't make the mistake of looking at what's going in my mouth Wendy's FTW even burger king.....just not mcdonalds
  5. before someone flames me for not saying the whole truth. . . (a trend on here) GN's i believe have heavier duty drums and heavier duty bumpers or bumper supports or something - some really minor, silly differences basically the same exactly car - GN is just a little heavier and has more options you can get a t-type in a bench seat/column shift (sleeper?) GNX's are really rare - bigger turbo and some upgraded parts...they're a different animal
  6. a grand national is nothing but a t-type with an appearance package, from what i know so, i've heard people joke that a t-type would be faster than a GN (slightly lighter) GNX is a little different bigger turbo
  7. the trailer rental is cheap: 50.00 day the expensive part is the truck, .40-.60 cents a mile 420 miles there, 420 back is why i'm thinking 1-way rentals - to keep the truck price down
  8. gas would double and i'd have the headache of finding how to get the car 3 or 4 feet off the ground current plan is to rent a cheap $20/day car and drive up there...pick up truck/tailer, drop off car and drive home drops it down to around $500 i'd imagine
  9. definitely i've put together 3 '66/67 GTO's almost in this shape so, I don't expect that it'll be a problem.... but maybe i won't end up with 3 buckets of 'spare parts' after reassembling this one
  10. u-haul wants .39 cents a mile (20$ a day for the truck and $50 for the trailer) a little pricey on a 900 mile trip they initially quoted me .59 cents a mile...until i started bitching that 900 miles would be insane maybe they'll do down a bit more this could easily be an $800 or $900 trip with gas i can't find/don't see any other rent-a-car joints that have regular pickups anyone else have thoughts or opinions?
  11. I'm still crossing my fingers that it all works out Might end up with a rarer/more valuable car than i had the first muscle car it also has a load of options: power brakes, power windows, power steering, tilt wheel, bucket seats, posi rear, tripower and a dozen little things like lamps and seatbelts I'm calling u-haul early tuesday and hoping they can help out northern damned michigan
  12. i'd be perfectly happy renting from u-haul did i hear they don't put hitches on the trucks for the express reason of not wanting people to tow stuff?
  13. Well, if you remember...my '66 GTO was stolen 3 weeks ago About 3 hours ago, i got stupid and spent the insurance money on a basketcase '64 GTO that's in northern Michigan i didn't get the insurance value out of my last '66, so i had to downgrade a little but this is arguably a neater car #'s matching 1964 GTO convertible tripower, this time (they don't get much rarer than that) anyways, this one is in about 13,000 individual pieces...and i need to find a trailer anyone feel like helping? I'd prefer an enclosed trailer, but i'll take what i can get any other ideas as to how to get that car from michigan to Ohio? my dad's '07 F150 is a 6 cylinder and we don't have the trailer hitch installed yet So, i need to find a truck/trailer combo I was thinking about trying to find a trailer to rent/borrow and just rent a v8 truck from some rental joint here's a teaser of how much trouble i just got myself into... http://homepages.udayton.edu/~mertzgea/gto1.jpg http://homepages.udayton.edu/~mertzgea/gto2.jpg http://homepages.udayton.edu/~mertzgea/gto3.jpg http://homepages.udayton.edu/~mertzgea/gto4.jpg http://homepages.udayton.edu/~mertzgea/gto5.jpg ...it'd good to have a project again
  14. starters interchange too know anyone with pontiac stuff? i'll ask a few buick guys i know if they're looking for anything
  15. http://www.esnipe.com ftw
  16. thanks for any help, posting wherever you think might help it sure can't hurt It's a rather difficult car to part out or sell whole....difficult to hide Maybe it's on a crate to africa or south america by now, but you'd think they would steal a completely restored car first this one needed a solid chunk of $ in paint/body So, i'm still hoping it was a teenie bopper on a joyride honestly - i'd be thrilled to get the car back minus engine/transmission Those two i can deal with Tracking down all the rest of the parts would kill me
  17. pretty sure it isn't overhauln' i called the regular 'ole police myself...unfortunately insurance isn't going to cover nearly as much as it was worth, i was in between getting a new policy for it i think i've got 15k coverage on a 30k, 40k car
  18. no, i took the trunk spoiler off the lock on the garage was broken...looks like a pry-bar and being a '66 model, it takes about 3 wires to hotwire
  19. i'll be out all night driving around the cop said it's usually just some kid that wants a joy ride...and ends up dumping it on the side of the road when it runs out of gas any help is obviously appreciated
  20. i'm guessing you won't see another one? i've got the plate # around here somewhere - most of the documentation was in the car Please: shoot for the head It'll look exactly like the top picture, except for different rims I just put two brand new beauty rims on both rear tires...and sandblasted the rims no center cap yet
  21. Please, everyone be on the lookout I'm hoping some kid stole it and went on a joyride until it ran out of gas (stolen out of my garage some time last night, i think) i didn't check until about 5 pm today... hopefully...it's sitting on the side of the road somewhere White car, black top, black interior Decent daily driver shape it's rather unmistakeable... my phone: 937-269-7753 -Clay here's a very dirty picture of it http://homepages.udayton.edu/~mertzgea/carrr.jpg http://homepages.udayton.edu/~mertzgea/vert12.jpg ....yea...i'm rather sick
  22. You could call it that but actually, it's a 1966 passenger side recliner maybe rarest option available in a GTO (it also has headrests, but i don't have them on in that picture) it's the first reclining seat ever put in a GM a-body car didn't come out in chevelles until 1967 less than 1% of a-bodies came with that option...as it was terribly expensive i've been offerred $800 for that stupid seat...because it does the gangster lean
  23. yes, it should probably start but it'll sound ridiculously pitiful depends on a lot a smaller motor might not start i know for a fact my 400 inch v8 started 180 off
