  1. Really what? I didn't do this seek anyone's approval on anything nor do I care what anyone thinks, just sharing a little something car related is all. This is no different than modding a car, putting together a home theater, buying a bike etc....just something I wanted to do because I like it.
  2. Not familiar with them. A guy on the Fiesta forum has an in with a newer company called "Ampere Audio" that looks to be pretty nice stuff, I contacted him to see about getting in on some of their stuff as they're pushing some prototypes for no cost, might be worth it.
  3. Nice, I've been looking at old school Monitor Audio's, US Amps, and some old Butler amps, saw a Butler hybrid sell for about $200 on ebay which is a hell of a deal.
  4. It's a "Passive radiator". Basically a subwoofer but without a magnet or voice coil. It allows much more movement of the sub than a sealed box but you can keep the box much smaller than a ported setup. It has weights on it that can be added/removed to adjust the resistance to tune it like you would using different port lengths. It's merits are big, deeper sound from an otherwise smaller setup and no port noise as its sealed.
  5. I don't know what your budget is but I have only $400 in this setup. Though the biggest help came in picking up the sub for $25 off my landlord who'd bought it a couple years ago and never used it, was still in its original packaging. Sub $25, Radiator $99, Amp $160, box $14, cables $50, binding posts/incidentals $20. Mine is barely audible outside the car and nothing vibrates........yet.
  6. My inspiration for this naturally comes from home theater where passive radiators are commonplace. My landlord has a 15" Sunfire sub setup for his home theater, the box is barely 1.5cu/ft and shakes the whole damn house like I've never seen, though he is pushing 2000 watts from the subs amp alone and his Sunfire receiver adds another 200 watts to the mix.
  7. People still do, but unless your much of an audiophile or just own a car with a great factory stereo like many do these days you won't notice. I really enjoy jamming to some tunes when I go on a cruise etc... so the door speakers weren't going to cut it. Yep, not the really good stuff but imo better than mdf and helped stay under budget. Good so far, I ran one of those frequency things through it and it has some serious low range for such a small setup which is what I'm going for. I probably could have made the box smaller but the radiator has over 2in of excursion so I needed to leave about 1in between it and the magnet of the sub and my skills with wood working tools are limited, I think I did well for my 1st attempt. Not worried, it's not a common thing anymore with many cars having great factory systems and what not. My car has all the inputs and touch screen etc... but lacked anywhere the power and depth even my Mustangs system and I consider myself a bit of an audiophile.
  8. When I purchased my ST I noticed pretty quick that the factory stereo is pretty anemic, all the speakers are located in the doors so the system lacks any depth and I knew I wanted to add a sub system. Being a small car I wanted a compact setup but still wanted it to have depth and hit hard. A ported setup requires more space, a sealed box lacks depth on a smaller sub so I decided to go with a Passive radiator setup, small package with big oomph. I picked up an Alumapro Alchemy MX 10" sub, Earthquake SLAPS M10 radiator, and went with an Arc Audio XXD 2080 class D amp to power it. It's not a lot of power but it doesn't need a lot. I build the box myself out of birch, I could have made it smaller but my skill set is limited in this dept. so the box ended up measuring 12"x12"x9", about .7cu/ft roughly. I used a Stinger wiring kit and some binding posts to make for easy removal for track duty. http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq10/MrAutoX/IMG_0760.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq10/MrAutoX/IMG_0759.jpg I have a lot of tuning to do with the amp, stereo, and radiator weights but so far it sounds good and has a depth no sealed box can match.:fuckyeah:

    Soundbars....

I loved the sound of this: http://www.trustedreviews.com/yamaha-yas-103-review I ended up with this though as I wanted a sub: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_158HTCT370/Sony-HT-CT370.html?tp=47366&awkw=75640420825&awat=pla&awnw=g&awcr=47634693625&awdv=c
  10. I use a wallet and usually keep my phone in the same pocket as my keys. When I'm at work I usually wear cargo shorts with extra large pockets so it's not an issue during the week at least. My favorite thing about it is the size and the additional battery life of the 6+.
  11. 15' Mustang Ecoboost. 30+mpg highway, rwd fun, choice of trans, if you do decide to mod it has tons of potential. Go sit in a "premium", the interior is miles ahead of the 14'.
  12. I'm still on the fence for the 6+. I think its a better value if you compare equal memory with having the larger screen, image stabilization on the camera, and nearly double the battery life. Just not sure if it's going to bother me like Kale said with that size phone in my pocket, especially as I wear gym shorts a lot.
  13. I bought this on sale a couple weeks ago on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Antennas-Direct-C2-V-CJM-ClearStream-Outdoor/dp/B007RH5GZI/ref=sr_1_11?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1416758912&sr=1-11&keywords=digital+antenna I get a better picture than my cable and especially netflix etc....and like Tilley I just go to a sports bar for Buckeye games that aren't on ABC, we have a couple dedicated Buckeye bars down here so its all good. Just purchased a Roku despite having a smart tv, apps def work better than the build-ins on my Samsung. Cut the cable bill from $120/mo to $30. Then got this for free as I'm a T-mobile customer: http://www.engadget.com/2014/09/11/t-mobile-personal-cellspot/ This is a pimp router, it has 13X the capacity of my old one and it didn't do wifi calling, loving it so far. Big thing I'm hoping for this holiday is a car stereo amp, in particular this: http://www.arcaudio.com/p/ks-125-2-bx-mini Hoping I can find a deal on this amp, they're spendy little things but damn nice and perfect for what I need.
  14. Well done man!! I nursed my shitty brakes around there the once I've been, thankfully not a full fledged break down like that. Will never forget that track, wished they had offered the Grand Course while I was there but was happy just to get to run it.
  15. Sunny and 72 degrees here, glorious driving weather!!:fuckyeah: Had to go with the GT350, Camaro is still a fat pig you can't see out of and wouldn't want to be seen in it as well. Caddy sounds like a 3000GT with an exhaust.....:lolguy: Hellcat would be my 2nd choice.
  16. Having steel brakes helps a lot, carbon ceramics are spendy but that engine can't be cheap being what it is and the block is getting the same plasma treatment as the Trinity. I think Ford has every intent of under-cutting the Z28, I say just over $60k base, options take it as high as $70k.
  17. Flat-plane crank V8, 2-peice, 6-pot front brakes, carbon composite front panel, aluminum front widened fenders, near full underbody trays, magnetic ride. Going to be one hell of a car with one hell of a price tag!! If I had a wallet big enough I'd empty it to have one!!
  18. All I hear are excuses. Football is an outdoor sport, deal with it.
  19. That's how you drive a Ferrari!!
  20. It would be close, there are TONS of Buckeyes down here myself included. The local alumni bar has had Kenny Guiton and Donnie Nicky for their block parties so far this year and had over 1600 people in attendance!!:fuckyeah:
  21. I do not have cable. which is why I'd hoped it was available somewhere online but figure its unlikely.
  22. Looks like it was a great game last night, anyone know where there might be a replay of it online I can watch?
  23. Yeah, he's one of those that can probably win in a Kia Rio as well, damn fine driver.
  24. You are correct, a guy named "Sam Strano" whose won multiple national championships autocrossing in Mustangs has campaigned all types and he showed the SRA handled as well as the IRS with far less complication and expense. Lets hope the new car does better but looking at the design it doesn't look promising to me, better, but still not a very good setup.
