  1. Jones LOL!! Happy birthday!!
  2. Vid blocked by NASCRAP. Saw a pic though, looks like the car went almost completely through!!
  3. Clay, here is what I bought for the Mustang: http://www.autoanything.com/car-covers/60A1929A0A0.aspx Fairly thin, but very light breathable fabric so it dries quick, very high uv resistance. Fits perfectly, elastic at the front and back and has straps at each end to make sure it won't blow away(and it works as its windy in Phx). Love it as it's light and packs up into a sack the size of a school bag that came with. I also bought the cable lock to deter theft.
  4. The extra suspension travel won't hurt. No intentions of going off road right now but who knows down the road. Still leary about getting a new bike but I do like the prospect of it with not having to worry about issues with it. Guess I need to trust myself a bit more. I do appreciate all the tips and advice on this, learned a lot and still have a ton of the way go.
  5. Wasn't initially considering new bikes. Did sit on an FZ8 at first, really liked it and the other FZ bikes. Sat on an NC700, very comfy though seemed a bit tall and different. Sat on a Vstrom as well. Tried an ER-6N but how narrow it was and where the pegs were it wasn't right for me at all. Also sat on a beautiful Vulcan 900 Custom @ Iron Pony, burnt orange/flat black scheme that was in my opinion one of the sharpest bikes I've ever seen. Was a bit wieldly but everyone says they ride great. Would NOT want to be starting out on such a nice bike but I really liked it. Theres a big shop called Apache Motorcycles not far from my house I will probably go check out monday once I get home, they carry a few different brands.
  6. Not a CVT, but a push button clutchless shifter. Just pull a trigger on the left handlebar to upshift or a thumb button to downshift, it's not for me and $1500 more money packaged with ABS and spendy.
  7. I did look at one of these at ASK, very clever packaging for sure. It was rated for 70mpg which is crazy. It is a tall bike and comfortable, not the nest looking though. It seems I may be looking at a new bike as I'm finding out they're strict about financing and its easier to finance a new one.
  8. Good seeing you guys tonight, always enjoyed the camaraderie with CR and will miss being able to do it as often. Doc > Ginger :lolguy:
  9. 80mile round trip daily, 20mpg on premium vs. 50+mpg on regular = more than saves enough to pay for bike payment, ins and fuel. The reason for the urgency of a bike is I did all the math and with the pay cut I'm taking either get a bike or sell the Mustang, and I'm not ready to do that. Just got back from the BMV and got my temps, think I might just get a Busa and be done with it!!:dumb:
  10. Fixed, though I'm not looking for a crotch rocket, bit too small for me.
  11. Right now fuel econ is my #1 concern as I will be on a much tighter budget with the new job, aka 50-60+mpg is a MUST. Those dual sports do that kind of econ? I don't really like them but will consider most anything that I fit on for the right price and mpg.
  12. Gotcha, seems to be very similiar to the SV650. Will be making the trip to Iron Pony tomorrow afternoon.
  13. I see Iron Pony has something called an "ER-6N" Kawasaki, anyone know much about them??? It's a different looking bike.
  14. Might sell?? If I buy in Ohio it will likely be tomorrow or saturday. It's been reccommended to me, I have little to no plans to go offroading right now but I'm open to the idea of it. Honda NW had a couple I think but I didn't look at them. They had an 09 FZ6 in there, 2900miles, not a blemish on it, asking $54xx IIRC. Not sure how much they might work on that especially considering I'd be buying a jacket/helmet/ins all at the same time, but seems like what they're going for.
  15. Problem with an SV is finding one, only 1 in AZ I could find and not too many around here. I stopped in ASK in GC since its right around the corner from me. They were friendly and let me sit on a bunch of bikes. My favorite was the Yamaha FZ8, comfy for me, light, seemed easy to handle, they had an FZ6R but the peg position was diff and it was tight for me. Sat on a Honda NC700, not a good looking bike but comfy, 72mpg, pretty cool storage bin in the center and such. Also sat on a KZ1000, comfy again but more engine than I need right now. Also a Vstrom, not bad looking either and I fit fine. So it looks like the sport touring category is where my interest lies.
  16. Just got in last night and will be making my way out here shortly. My schedule is cramped outside of midday today and tomorrow but I will be mainly on the west side today, prolly stop in Iron Pony and head to my dads on the east side tomorrow so I can hit up just about anywhere. PM's sent.
  17. Thanx Doc, I appreciate that. With the susbstantial price difference it's certainly not going to cost more to buy a bike in Ohio even with shipping. ^^Too much powa for me to handle.:megusta:
  18. Thanx guys, I'll be in Cbus here in a couple days and plan on looking around, at least try on a few bikes to see how I fit. Looked at ASK's inventory and they don't have much for used though. Other places to look??
  19. Man after my own heart!! I agree with ya 100%, not looking to kill myself at all, just want something practical to learn on and save on fuel. Looking around comparing prices I'm clearly better off buying in Ohio and having something shipped to AZ, WAY cheaper in Ohio. Found only 1 SV650 in AZ and they're asking $4995 for an 06'. It's low miles at 4,2xx but still I'm seeing 07's cheaper with similiar miles in Ohio. Paul, I'll be in Cbus this week actually and my hit you up for that, maybe not ride but can at least get some tips from ya. I'm quite open to Yamahas, dads boat is a yamaha and it has such a cherry engine, they make good stuff.
  20. I'm about 270lbs right now but will be reducing that amount soon as I just got a gym membership again, but for now..... I know I will need to get into a place that has some bikes to sit on, found a couple not far from me at all so when I get back home I can really start looking. My reasoning on possibly a smaller bike is like learning to ski/board, they usually put you on undersized stuff as its easier to handle. My plan is to learn 1st, then after a year or so find something to my preference but if I find something I like now, then perfect. Budget is def an issue with this little money as I'm taking a pay cut with the new job. However, the math says even with a small bike payment it will more than be offset with the fuel savings vs the Stang everyday so I don't mind getting into a modest payment on something a couple years old, plus in theory newer should need less maintenance. Ryan, I'll keep all that in mind, as I know nothing about bikes really but am mechanically inclined enough to at least see the obvious stuff, thanx.
  21. Thanx, Ryan. Reviews are pretty good on these and I'm not seeing many for sale at all which is prolly a good thing. Anything to look out for on these bikes?? Big enough for an ogre like me to ride(6'2")??
  22. As the title says I'm looking at bikes finally, with a normal job now I will be driving to and from work eveeryday and can't use the Mustang for that. This will be my 1st and will be learning to ride so nothing new or fancy. I will have about $1000 cash to work with to either buy an older one outright or maybe throw down on a used slightly newer bike. I'm open to most anything but a Harley or chopper though I'd rather not be crunched onto a crotch rocket. Prolly prefer a Japanese bike that will be reliable and economical and easy to lear on. Suggestions/tips for both the bike and learning to ride?? BTW, live in Phoenix area so I'm looking at stuff down here and from what Adam(Dorito) says the prices are high.
