Yeah, no haggle at Carmax. Look on autotrader to see how reasonable the price is. Also see how long they have had it, more likely to lower price if it has been on the lot for a while.
  2. Timing belt/water pump The GLI is a great looking car, and has less mileage, but will probably cost more. The GLI is the only 1.8T car I would get, other than that, I would get the VR6 cars.
  3. Pretty impressive. Can't wait for the GXP.
  4. My dad and I are thinking about picking up a good B5 S4 in about a year and a half. They are going for cheap now and would make a great running project car.
  5. I call it Airport Rd. Its the road off of Hamilton Rd behind the Airport. Very twisty, a small straight and some other good twisties. Not to trafficed but you have to be careful. My usualy test drive rd at byers. Noebixby is alright too, but heavy traffic.
  6. B5=2.7V6 Biturbo 250 hp 258tq mid 5s to 60 low 14s 1/4 B6/B7=4.2V8 340hp 300tq 5 flat to low 5s to 60 and mid to high 13s 1/4 The B5 with a chip though is easily a mid 13, low with turbo back exhaust. Love them but the AWD and weight of the Audi's are killers from roll races. My dad has had a stg 2 B5 and a B6. Both great. LSX cars are strong as hell, should have no trouble with them until they are past stg 2.
  7. I had GIAC 93 on my B7 and it really woke the car up. Its obvious you don't hold Audi's in high regard, which is fine. Good luck with the search, my dad passed on the A4 as well. Time for a change he said. He has had 2 S4s in the past 7 years, stg 2 B5 and a B6. The interior on the B7 is same as B6. He is buying my GTI until he finds a car worth spending more money on.
  8. Interesting comments on the A4. I thought the shifter had good feel, with medium distance travel. Not long by any means, but would be a good candidate for a quality Short Shifter. I didn't do one because mine was a lease and it was good enough for the time being. As for the turbo lag, you might be confusing it with something else maybe? The engine puts out like 85% tq at 1800rpms. Either way, you will like the overall car if you find one for her. Thats what Audi does best, building the best overall car in its class, IMO. Did you go to byers? They have alot of Auto's there. Good luck.
  9. I know a VW tech that does timing belt/water pump sevices on the side with provided parts for about $3-400. Parts are about the same. Let me know.
  10. I knew that they stopped that, I was under the impression it was the 06 model year. It really was an appealing thing to be able to buy a CPO from a private seller. Wonder if the 05.5 B7 is transferable? Might still be able to get a B7 from private seller that way.
  11. CPO has to be done by dealer, and all 05/06 cars have the transferable warranty so you can buy a CPO from private seller. The 0.9% is for 05/06 A4 and S4s only. I don't know if the finance deal is for CPO only, but most all at dealers will be CPO.
  12. Larry Hobbs is a good guy at Byers to go through. Last 3 Audi's through him. I got my car 3k off what dealer had "marked" on my GTI. The Financing thing is an Audi wide thing so your only limited by how far you want to drive to buy the car. Don Rosen and Riverside Audi are both large Audi dealers withn 500 miles. Just FYI
  13. The 06 has maint included for initial 4/50. The extended CPO adds 2/50 with a $50 deductable/visit. Great warranty.
  14. A few things. You wont touch a 2005.5 or 2006 A4 2.0T Quattro CPO for the high teens. If you are lucky, you can find one for under 25k. CPO ads a good 1,500. Since she needs leather, sunroof, heated seats and thats all the madatory options, it is basically my old B7. The sunroof package has leather and sunroof. Mine was a 2.0T and Quattro with a 6 speed manual. I added the premium package, auto wipers, auto mirrors, power folding mirrors, heated seats etc. Thats it. Those two packages are all she really requires and all you really need on that car. Xenons are a great option, but not neccessary, Nav adds alot of money to the car, and most with nav will be almost loaded. S-line is a body kit type thing that makes it look like an S4. Sport suspension, 18" wheels colored stitching on steering wheel and shifter boot. However you can get sport suspension with regular exterior which is only a $250 option from factory. Same suspension, but no S4 look and comes with standard 17" wheels. If she doesn't get Quattro, dont buy an audi, there are cheaper cars that provide same things than the Audi, like an Acura TL. As for the financing, 0.9% for 60 months on all 05/06 A4s and S4s. Ends at end of March. Pretty slick deal, saves a lot of money. My dad is looking into replacing his S4 in April when his lease is up with an A4 because of this deal. Hope this helps.
  15. Looks pretty cool. how rare are those cars? I have never seen that body style before. Good luck, and continue to post up progress.
  16. So? Anyone that buys/bought a S5/S4/TT 3.2 etc could have bought a 335i. You see them all over the place, dime a dozen here in columbus, the civic of the upper class.
  17. I drove the white one they had at MAG. It was a pretty amazing car. Had better balance, ride and handling than the B6/B7 S4s. However, if you already had a B6/B7 S4 it would be a bad choice to buy an S5, too little gain over what you have. As for the S5 comparing to the new M3, right. The S5 is in the low to high 50s, loaded. The M3 has a cheaper base price, but can be optioned into RS4 price at about 80k. The S5 can hang with the new M3, but is more of a luxury sports coupe rather than a dedicated sports car. And when you can get 20k mile RS4s for mid 50k, that would be hard to pass up. Can you tell I am an Audi guy?
  18. I was under the impression that a bolt on TBSS runs 12s. That is what I have found on the TB websites. The GC SRT 8 and TB SS are mid 12 trucks with bolt ons.

The new Spec B are avaliable with 6 speeds. But not the older ones or the GT.

I would stay away from the B5 S4 if you don't have a healthy maint budget. They tend to be an expensive car to DD. They have frequent oil leaks, trans sincro issues, and of course the turbos are always a potential 3-5k problem. Its hard to find one under 75k miles, and when you do, they pull a premium. I would stick with the LGT, seeing as they are at least 3 years newer, and are as fast if not faster stock. I dont know much about their reliability engine wise, but as you stated, they have good resale value, and are hard to find.

The Mazdaspeed 6 does not handle as well as either the B7 A4, Legacy GT, BMW 3 x etc. It is in the lower rung of AWD sedans handling wise. The weight of the AWD adds alot to the already heavy front end. With that said, I have driven 4 of them, and like it. Yeah it pushed a little, but had good power, which absolutely died after about 5k rpms like the speed3. A few negatives, the hood is a little bogus, the rear exhaust tips are finishers that dont connect to the exhaust-ugly, tires are 215 on a heavy AWD car-not good, and the interior materials are not up to subaru/VW standards. Just my opinions, you should drive one, I like them overall. 20k will get you a 5k mile 2007. Horrible initial depreciation. great for used car market.
  22. Just letting you know he does quality work, and he does it for a living. Figured most wouldn't care if a noob said he had a friend doing it on the side. Could mean crappy workmanship. Thanks though :chill:
  23. My friend works for a shop, does side work, 50% and 35%. $100 2 dr, $120 4 dr. He did LeBrons Bently. He has been doing it for 6 years. PM me if anyone wants more info.
