The fact that you aren't even acknowledging the similarities between snow tires and brake pads is shocking.
Snow tires are optimal, yes. Necessary to pilot a vehicle safely in snow? No. Upgraded brakes are optimal, yes. Necessary to pilot a vehicle safely? No.
I haven't been in an accident that was caused by having A/S tires in my driving career.
Also, do you know the credentials of all of those that use A/S tires in this thread?
My point is, how is your evaluation of brake performance/security better than someones evaluation of all season tire performance/security?
Can't use the same argument you are bashing, to support a similar question...
Also, initial bite=/=stopping distance.
It's not relevant if you haven't seen the difference they make and how much safer and able they are for driving. And I have to say I get that. I just hope you never are in a situation where they would have made the difference.
any local dealer can trade for one, although, they are getting rare, so make your purchase sooner than later.
really makes you wonder how the Focus ST at 252hp/270tq can't outrun the 200/207 GTI huh...
Model change was 2010 to the MK6. There were some cost savings for the 6, but nothing noteworthy. You'd only notice it if you previously had a MK5. Besides that, the interior design in light years better on the MK6. The Sportwagen is based off the Golf, and not the Jetta.

Voted how I am running this winter: NO
I did with my GTI the last 2.5 winters. Halfway through last winter, I got the R, which with its A/S was better in the snow than the GTI with winters.
I'll probably keep these as winters until they need replaced, and migrate back to the winter tire crowd.
I'd have to agree, however throwing 40k in parts, labor And tuning ( not just engine tuning) could make something much worse, with no warranty without the prober parts and people involved.
apparently we have reached the part of a threads life where nobody pays attention to the OP.
Have you tried a mack truck? preferably with the sleeper cab? Pleny of room for kids, 18 speed manual, lots of tq, RWD, etc.
