Emerson Network Power - Various "critical" job openings
mmrmnhrm replied to Rally Pat's topic in The Meat Market
Yeah, because writing Excel sheets to cut quote times by 10x, being the lead app engineer for corp acquisitions and new product development, and being the only person on the team NOT in a protected class means I'm dead weight. :megusta: -
My HVAC guys had a cute (yes, I really just did apply that term to a tool) needle-nose vise-grip that I used in a nearly identical situation two weeks ago. Grab on to the outside of the head and gently turn+pull.

Emerson Network Power - Various "critical" job openings
mmrmnhrm replied to Rally Pat's topic in The Meat Market
LOL... I will say that Liebert treated me quite well when they laid me off in 2009, but by the same token, it would have been nice to get a call asking if I'd like to come back when they advertised my old position as "critical" when they realized two people couldn't handle that group's workload in 2011. I'm also hearing from my field techs that they're looking for any reason imaginable (sketchy or not) to reduce workforce in other areas, to the point that they're no longer willing to share a document of centrally collected, but openly published information simply because St. Louis has stamped "Company Confidential" on it. In short... I'm qualified for four of those positions, and have zero interest in applying for any of them given the current corporate culture. -
IANAL (obviously), but here's my thought... if you were just swapping something like a stove or water heater, I'd say have at it, as those sorts of things aren't documented any further than "They exist." A furnace may or may not be documented by a gov't agency, but when I went house shopping last year, gas/electric heat was one of the things that was listed on the MLS docs, so it might be in there somewhere. In your case, though, it sounds like you're bringing gas in for the first time. In this situation, I'd recommend pulling a permit even if not required, not because of any desire to satisfy the city, but actually to satisfy your homeowner's insurance if something gets toasty. If your house is listed as having all-electric everything, but burns down because something got sucked into the burner and shot up the duct, then lands on the bed sheets, well, I'm sure the insurance company would love to deny the claim based on "This never would have happened had you pulled a permit and had things inspected." Actually told my sister to disallow the request of her new condo's previous owners to "rectify" their FPE electric panel by having dad, "who's a professor at Tri-C!!" replace it. After witnessing some of his other handywork, I'm even more convinced that leaving that dodgy panel in (for now) was the right thing to do. So, in short, some things are just stupid money grabs. But in others, following the system does make sense. This is, IMHO, one of the latter.

You called 911. That shit's recorded and kept on file for exactly this reason.

It's good reading to go along with the morning coffee; certainly beats the drivel on Fox and CNN.

You think HPD is good, follow Brimfield. You won't be disappointed
-
Yep, putting a target on his back, and I gotta admit, whoever responded from the HPD has some class... that's a good way of turning 'pig' into a compliment. Shouldn't be long before it gets crosslinked by the Brimfield chief and his center for mope studies.

Is that anything like a wave hitting a ship at sea and making the front fall off?
-
They do, but the batteries only last a couple days.

Yes. Calling GC he'll probably reach Ken. Chris is based out of their Dayton/Cincy office, but still has responsibility for the whole region (which is why it takes him so fsckin' long to get quotes and shit back to me).

I do one nice thing for you.... :gabe: Anyways, if Expedient doesn't work out (or we don't have anything up his alley/pay grade), the company we use for fire suppression is in desperate need of someone with brains to help their area sales guy. Ask for Chris Sickels or Ken Oberst at http://www.integratedprotection.com

You asked what the speculation was, I answered. Not my fault you didn't like the answer, or the creator's repudiation of the speculation.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why American tech support can't be replaced. I had this same kind of issue while doing Tier 2 for Liebert... folks would call in saying "Well, this part works, but this other part doesn't. I think I got a dud!" Uhh, sir, please hold the blue button down for two seconds... "Hey, it works!!!"

That Nintendo was, in fact, all over his ass for ripping off the Cheep-Cheeps and whatnot from Mario Brothers. Though $50k/day in ad revenue was likely causing him more than just a few headaches among his Vietnamese neighbors... As I told my wife the last time the Powerball went exponential, just because you have lots more money doesn't mean the money problems go away, they just have more zeroes attached to them.

Lifetime Fitness might be an option... I've never seen 'Help Wanted' ads posted for any of their openings, but I'm pretty sure they're the kind of place where you'd have to walk into the door and ask to speak with the relevant department head, who (at least at Sawmill and Hard) is down to roughly half the number of personal trainers on their wall compared to what I usually see.

Caps should never "look puffy," plain and simple. A good cap will be either completely flat, or (less common) slightly concave, but whether or not this is actually the cause....

Sigh... everybody keeps going, "Escrow! Escrow!" but in order for a court to sign off on it, the landlord has to be pretty much ignoring the problem, or making it obvious they're only making a half-assed attempt at fixing it. From Andy's description, neither is happening. In fact, they've come and replaced several pricey components, bled the thing for air, done just about everything a normal HVAC tech would do, and having still failed to fix whatever it is that's gone wrong, have now summoned a third-party firm to start taking a crack at it. In other words, they've not been absentee, nor negligent, which means the court is likely to deny the escrow request. Andy, if you're in the office and Hunter or Noonan are around, poke them about what's going on. The heaters at our office work on a very similar design to what you've got at the apartment, and a number of the components are exposed in the loading dock area, so they might be able to point at this-or-that component and say "look at this widget here, and this is how it should look/operate."

Humidifiers generally connect either via bypass between the return and supply air (smaller, slower, more holes to cut and ducts to connect) or straight on the supply (bigger, wetter, one cut and you're done). I'm in the process of figuring out which to add to my house right now. As much as I'd like to put one of the larger "one and done" units on, it's looking like I'm going to be stuck with a bypass type because of space limitations
