Not that redneck engineering is always a bad thing... :masturboy:

Need a hand understanding your mileage counts... when I bought the car, as a non-CARB state, it was my understanding that the IMA subsystem warranty was 8/80 (which if I read your notes correctly, would now be 9/96). I tossed HondaCare's 8/120k on top of it, actually expecting that it would be either the dual-valve cam system or CVT to fail, not the battery. On the updates: 1- I believe this one has been downloaded into the PCM (I had IMA updates loaded in late '09 and mid '10) 2- I think this has also been done (My VIN is in range, and this sounds familiar, but I'd have to look) 3- Almost certainly not (this doesn't sound the least bit familiar, and it's not like Honda has gone out of their way to publicize this) WRT #3, are they completely replacing the IMA battery pack, or just a board? If the former, are they using a new or cared-for pack, or one that's been sitting on the shelf since Honda changed over to lithium-based packs (The '06 year was still on NiMH packs)?

Need to talk with someone who has a clue, and won't just parrot corporate's "there's no light, there's no problem" stance on the issue . Older members have probably seen my chart before, and the IMA battery deterioration continues. At this point, the system goes into recalibration as soon as I start it, and depending on the length of the drive, can often go into that mode several times afterwards. The mechanical starter is almost always required on Monday mornings (the car doesn't see as much driving over the weekend), and often two or three other times during the week. If you're going to tell me, "But that's totally normal," then you've already drunk the corporate Kool-Aid. If there's a brain at Germain, great. If I have to go to Marysville to get someone, so be it.

Depending on the company, this could be correct dress code. I forget if it's American Eagle or Abercrombie, but one of those places actually has "shorts and sandals" written into their standard office dress code.

You treat the question as a joke, but it's one I was actually asked, verbatim, when interviewing for a sales engineering role a couple years back. If you go into the interview with that kind of attitude, even with the correct answer (which yours is), you will fail.

You overslept at the hotel and are due to meet your prospect in ten minutes. It will take two minutes to drive there or five to walk (it's a nice spring day, so there's no worry about arriving hot/sweaty/unkempt), and while you're all dressed and ready to go, you've found that you locked the keys in your rental last night, and all your stuff is in the trunk. Calling for a cop/AAA will require at least half an hour before they arrive. What do you do?

Going to close on my house in about a week (thanks, Marc!), and figure it'd be nice to get it all cleaned up before we start moving our stuff in. Quick thread search only turned up Stephson's for the carpet (two years ago!) so wondering if anybody's got fresher recommendations for either/both. One stop shopping would be great, but if not, oh well.

Speaking as someone who had the nickname "Big Bird" in high school... - Don't freak... in twenty years, he's gonna wish he still had half the metabolism he does now. - Martial arts rock. Besides the whole confidence/self-defense against bullies thing, there's nothing worse than being 6" tall your freshman year and having the coordination of a drunk fruit bat. MAs will help tremendously with that. - Find some fun sports that he's got some talent in. I *HATED* baseball with a passion (I was one of the best fielders on the team, but couldn't hit for shit), and soccer+football sucked (I grew so fast my ankles couldn't take the pounding), but swimming... ahh... graduated with five school records

Yep... use EAC to pull it off the CD, then feed it to whatever external compression utility you like.

Wifey test drove a new Fit when she was car shopping about two years ago, and while she loved it, ended up preferring a used RAV4 instead. The two biggest deciding factors were cost versus space (the RAV was more expensive, but the extra rear space has seen a LOT of use), and having a higher line of sight. With a little one on the way, I'm expecting the car seat to fit more comfortably in the RAV as well. Both were the auto versions (manuals are beyond her)

Bonnie made me think of Petey from the Little Rascals

Clearly nobody ever told this guy that the cake is a lie.

Thanks everyone... Jim got the nod, as his website even allowed for picking an appointment time and which services I wanted

I usually check http://helios.swpc.noaa.gov/ovation/ when folks get all psyched up, dunno how it compares to Ben's link (same gov't agency, but different data) -
Bump... looking for a couple other rec's... Rick's booked up past my deadline, haven't gotten a callback from Jerry yet...

Accident reports and massive amounts of calls.

What's he been charged with? Attempted murder? Reckless op? -
If their announcing of intent to expand does nothing more than "encourage" the local cable and wire-line companies to get their shit together and upgrade/expand offerings, then I'd say "Mission accomplished." The sorry state of internet access in this country compared to other "first world" nations should be a cause for embarrassment.

We get fire extinguisher training once a year at my office... company comes in with a bunch of old bottles that have to have their 12-year hydrostat tests done (which means the contents would be lost anyways), lights up a large pan with some kind of diesel/kerosene/gasoline mix, and we each take turns putting it out. You'd be surprised how well a bottle works, provided you've actually got one within reasonable reach. I rather doubt some dude cutting stuff on the roof even had fire extinguishers on his mind until well after the thing was burning.

Andy's been doing my Civic ever since I got it in '06... does great work, and fun to talk with while it's being done.

Left a VM for one of their guys.... any other recs?

Need an odd one here... looking for companies that can do 20" (yes, INCHES) tall chain link, wrapped around floor pedestals. No, I can't say any more than that, just let me know who's good, and who sucks ass.

But would you buy it for a dollar?

Generally speaking, stuff that's still in the original box tends to fetch a premium among collectors. Things outside the box are usually only chased after if someone's trying to complete a collection.
