They're buying time, because they know they've fscked themselves into a corner. Had the election come out something like 50.5/49.5, people would be pissed, but there wouldn't have been so many people screaming fraud. But by setting it 63/37 when the polls (limited though they were) going in had it as a dead heat, as well as the reformist being utterly thumped in his hometown, well, that's a big red flag that *SOMETHING* fishy was going on. So now they've bought themselves a week. And then it starts all over, because if they say "No fraud found," ain't nobody in the world gonna believe them. But if they say "Yeah, we found some problems," all hell breaks loose internally. The mullahs are scared, and anybody who's scared is liable to do something stupid.
