  1. heh. 18's on a miata. That would be a sight. Edit: here's photographic proof. And I bet these are just 16's or 17's. http://www.1stoprimshop.com/images/gallery/zinik_shogun_mazda_miata_1.jpg Sorry for the thread hijack. Good luck with the sale Jerry!
  2. OOOO man! Nice purchase Jerry! Well sorted car you've got. Chad had talked about selling alot of the spare parts. Does it still have the aftermarket seats? How about a second set of wheels? You're two weeks late to purchase my hardtop. Sold that sucker for $675 (nearly the price of my miata!)
  3. Pat, you're a failurez. You guys are definitely correct about the higher expectations. My job right now isn't hard at all - and thats why I want to leave. Time to work somewhere that takes some effort, keeps me entertained, and pays well. I don't have to be a server, and I didn't realize that steakhouse servers were "career jobs." I've got a friend that just clears tables at the Refectory. On a normal night, he makes about $14 an hour. At rare times, he's made $150 in 5 hours. I'll give Cameron's Steakhouse a call. Can't hurt to ask!
  4. I've gotten bored with my current job. The real estate market isn't exciting enough to keep me entertained. I was on the Cameron Mitchell site the other day (for those who dont know, CM owns Columbus fish market, Cap City diner, Cameron's Steakhouse and Bravo). Anyway, I noticed a few openings at their restaurants. Now, these restaurants are hard to leave with a sub-$100 bill. Tips have got to be great. Anybody have experience working at a CM restaurant? Are the customers dicks? Are the tips as great as they sound? I'd most likely be a server or server assistant.
  5. That car was surprisingly placid while achieving God-like dyno numbers.

    Ahoy

you catch the person who hit you? insurance $$$ ftw!
  7. Thanks for the recc! Just shot off an email.
  8. people like that should be shot. beating up senseless people is like drowning babies. its not even a challenge
  9. I had planned on that before the Miata. Now that I've got the Miata, the SAAB has become my daily, reliable transport, and the Miata is the car to upgrade. Brand new GT17s cost $1800. Shit.
  10. Interesting update: I emailed limitengineering, a nationwide turbo supplier and remanufacturer, and here is their response
  11. Anth, thanks for the offer man. I've heard that these little GT17s can be a bit tricky. Apparently, recentering the impeller must be perfect and the job is a PITA. I'd really prefer to outsource the rebuild and then just do the in/out work myself. Vander, I'll look into Columbus Diesel - Hadn't considered a diesel company! Thanks
  12. My SAAB's turbo seals have finally given up. The blue smoke has gotten progressively worse every morning. So basically, I'm looking for a high quality, local, rebuilder to refurbish my 2001 Garret GT17. Is this something that a regular performance shop (IPS and Slowmotion come to mind) could help with? Or, are turbos better left to national companies with sophisticated equipment and experience? Thanks for any help!
  13. hahaha made my day with that. My favorite part was the following post about the extension cord. Great find.

    1990 Miata

Havent signed up yet. Is this the fun event? I most likely will.

    1990 Miata

haha! you should do it. I kidd, but it would be fun to have you back in my class. Give me something to shoot for. Gotta warn you though, MR2's own miatas in ES, and Brent is a straight BEAST at driving his ES miata.
  16. I bet the "local offer" was more than what you won the auction for. Now the guy wants to sell locally, so he's trying to lose you with an over-estimated shipping quote.

    1990 Miata

RWD is incredibly different. It's more of a change than going from an automatic trans to a stickshift.

    1990 Miata

Oh, and I would like to say that miatas are tremendous, reliable cars. They are incredibly easy to work on (coming from my SAAB). My miata is as 18 years old, and in the past 6 months of driving (abuse) I haven't had a single problem.

    1990 Miata

Jerry, it's Ed with the SAAB from GS. Seems our entire class is buying Miatas and switching to ES next year. Do you remember Brad Sewell with the RSX? He bought a miata. I bought a miata. You may be buying a miata, and hopefully, Chief will NOT be buying a miata!!! ((couldn't stand to get beat by you any more -- haha))

    Oct 21st Rallycross

It's a miata. I was pointing out how terrible it would behave on a rough off road surface and how any small detail could cause it to get stuck. Satire fails on the internet - sorry Seriously though, I'm considering this event. Rallycross has always sounded like an absolute blast.

hmmmm I've still got the hardtop for the miata. Will there be any large trucks around to pull the miata out if it gets stuck in a footprint, on a root, or on a comparatively large obstruction?
