That article offer no other suggestion of a problem other than the floor mats period. They talk about the push button start, but if that had happened in a Nissan Altima, a Mazda RX-8, a Prius, a Honda S2000, or any other number of cars that don't require a key to be inserted then they would have been blamed for having a complex system. The floor mats just pointed out that cars are getting to technical and that maybe simple is better. I'll take a normal key and no keyless entry, and key locks on all 4 doors any day. Less shit to fail in my mind.

Blizzaks are not the best, nor are they the cheapest. they are just the name everyone knows. Most snow tires will treat you well. Read the reviews... Drove a Mini cooper S last winter in the snow with Nokian Hakkapeliitta's they come from Sweden and they were awesome. Just as good as Blizzaks, heck General has a snow tire out now that got better ratings and it's cheaper. Probably want a smaller set of wheels than what are on the car now so you can get a thicker sidewall then read some reviews through tirerack and you'll be fine. 2K seems really steep for a winter tire package.

We use Castrol in every car that comes in the door at the shop that uses non-synthetic. You may want to check if Amsoil offers a 0W-30 I know they offer a 0W-20. Most of those SAABS i believe we just run 5W-30 Amsoil in. You may want to check weather temperature bar graph again in the owners manual. 0W-30 seems odd for our climate.
