Will probably swing by. I'll probably go with Martin.

Ok, you don't need to sell something on every car that comes in. I do a handful of cars per week that come in for oil change and check over and leave just fine. Like a Ford Taurus with 142K miles that was dry as a bone underneath, all fluids clean and maintenance up to speed. In and Out. Cheap VAG's can't go 6K without something else going wrong. There are other cars out there on my shit list, don't worry. I don't recommend very many Subaru's to anyone. I'm just lucky enough to be at a shop that services regularly.....everything. So, I get to see A TON of variety.

Instead of butchering another thread I just saw what cody's name is on here now and I lol'd. That is all. Oh and Chris, stop posting in here and come get our damn waste oil at like 260gal. now and out of space!!!

You must have one of the only ones lol. Every single one including Passat's, Jetta's, etc. that roll into my bay door is just clapped out. Every single light on on the dash, doesn't boost, front suspension falling apart, oil leaks, no oil on dipstick, etc. That's why the hate lol, years of turning wrenches on the pieces of shit, we love them because of the money you make off of them. Any car you have to remove the nose on to replace the serpentine belt is just utter fail. If YOU like them thats all that matters. "having good luck" does not mean ignoring all the warning lights and check lights on the dash and neglecting maintenance like some of our customers think.

Now the A4 is a totally different story, if it is in your $2500 price range, do them a favor and burn it to the ground when you go look at it. Just sayin'

Dammit just going to post this lol. Buy it, use it, clean it up and re-sell it.

I believe he just sold off his fun cars and needs a cheap daily

Why all the hate on the 4cyl? EVERY SINGLE 318 that rolls into the shop with the 4 banger has 250K plus miles, whats unreliable about that? Other than typical front suspension bushings/components, valve cover leakage, accessory belts cracking and RUST. They are great. Once again, it isn't a thread about what YOU would get it's about a car that he has found in his price range. To OP, I think you found a diamond in the rough finding one that is an original owner car with service records. Check the oil for cleanliness as it will tell you how frequently the oil has been changed. Otherwise, run it as hard as you can safely to make sure the trans does not slip in the higher RPM's, and take note on if the trans shifts very harshly, or sloppy. If it's not super crusty, they have records, and it drives well. Go for it, that motor is just as reliable as the 6, sure it's not as "noted" or "fast" but its not an absolute turd like some 4 cylinder cars are....

Who cares? He was a douche anyways....

YAY, does that mean she gets a new car???? lol

I can give you a print out here at the shop, if you swing by. I'm in Columbus though. Before you delve into the wiring stuff I have posted below, I am assuming that your air conditioning system is fully charged at this point. The compressor will not come on if there is not enough refridgerant in the system. Once you know or have verifed that it is indeed charged fully, then we can assume that you have a wiring issue. Hopefully you have a test light. First Check all your fuses, according to the wiring diagram I am looking at for your car, there are 6 relays that pertain to the a/c circuit. Make sure the key is "on" when you check them. 1 of them is hot in the "on" position. The other 5 are hot at all times. I am looking at the diagram. First, start the car, turn the a/c on. Un-plug the connector at the a/c compressor should be a yellow, yellow/green, and red/white wire. See if there is power at the yellow/green wire. This should be a no if your mechanic had to power the compressor himself. Next pull the A/C relay, with the A/C "on", a simple test once you pull it out, set it back in and see if you hear/feel it click. There should be power on 1 of the terminals, you probably won't be able to see the wire colors. If it does not click, you can try jumpering power from the power terminal to a terminal that does not have power attempting to hit the wire that runs to the compressor (yellow/green). This is essentially bypassing the relay. If you cannot do the above a simple "trick" is to pull a relay that has the same part number on it as long as it is for an accessory not being used such as a wiper relay, or head light relay and plug in a "known good" relay. See where that gets you.

Almost have to have a core group say 5 people that have access to the garage, say they have to be competent in usage of the lift, trustworthy, friendly and all members have different times available around their work schedules to access the shop. Then, if someone not in the core group needs lift useage/storage you need to contact a core group member to accompany them to the facility. This limits the number of people with keys to the garage. To be honest, as far as the social group goes, I personally don't think it should exist. I feel like that the core group would be able to allow meets to take place and X number of responsible people would have to be present to allow garage access. Just say have a "cover fee" that needs to be paid at events, I mean I think to a lot of people to have a place of mature car folk is worth paying for. I also think more of this community may show up although the drive may put off some people. I would say that the garage/work area is NOT a hang out area, as tempting as it would be, it just shouldn't happen. Storage could be run by a sign in/sign out basis with a minimum of say 1 week. Even if you need a couple days you still pay 1 week at minimum. Mechanic fees ought to be paid per visit instead of monthly since I am sure the line would be long to use the lift. Doc, just be weary of the lift, people will need to remember that it is a priviledge not a right. So, no exceptions for "emergencies" since if it weren't for you they would have had to make due without the space anyways. Also thank you for what you have done for this community. It's staggering sometimes, I think there is some excellent feedback in here, but you may not need maximum security features if you keep it simple. Essentially using the buddy system, you could create a low issue environment.
