  5. Mid 60's worked at a Army ammunition plant in Burlington NJ making 105 howitizer shells to send to Nam. I was a timekeeper (punch cards before REAL computers) and had to know every square inch of the massive plant to find every worker on third shift 8pm to 4am. Noisy, hot, dark and filthy but everybody there knew how important every shell was to our troops. It was more then just a job. Ron
  6. Out looking for van parts today at Wirthmans on Main Street and ran across a really decent set of 5.0 Grey tweed seats if anyone is looking for a set. Was surprised at how good they looked. Still will need a really GOOD cleaning but a good start. Sitting in a dark blue GT out in the yard. Ron
  7. I'm pretty sure any consumer has three days to change their mind about any purchases like this... he can say anything he wants but thats the law. I probably wouldn't give them a deposit anyway. Nothing like a sales guy like this thinking he has the deal then his boss gives him the bad news that they called and canceled. And... if you think the BBB is powerful, companies like this are scared to death of complaints on Angies List. As soon as they walk in tell them you are a Angies List member and watch the change in their pitch. Just my 2c's. Ron
  8. 98 Chevy Astro white work van (all 95 to 04's the same) hit in front end. Would like to repair it and need fenders, hood, grill, radiator, fan & fan clutch... all front lights and bumper cover, etc, etc. I've priced the parts on line and looks like a grand plus. Might be too much to invest but replacement would be thousands more plus the $$$ graphic wrap. I would fix it if I could find another same van hit anyplace but the front or one with a bad drivetrain. Any ideas? Thanks, Ron
  9. ... puts both Home Depot and Lowes to shame. If you take your wife plan to spend half a day... I'm in Picktown in Huntington Hills... GREAT freakin place to live. My daughter went to school with Nicole. Good people. Let me know when the deck needs work. Enjoy! Ron
  10. Be happy to put Dans Fox and the black 97 away from December 15 to April 15, no need to "visit" them till spring. Electric for the tricklers would be helpful. Ron
  11. Just found this... http://www.twoseatsorless.com
  12. If the wheels are clean I'm interested. Any pics and a phone number to roneisner@msn.com Thanks.
  13. I build and do restoration on decks and heres a tip or two. 1) Lay out the deck WITHOUT the utilities included. On that side, come 3 or 4 feet off you back door and then across the back of the house with a 4' or 5' shadow box privacy fence. It will improve the look of the house, quiet the A/C and give you a clean line to start from. 2) you can build a 20x16 deck in two weekends for way under 2 grand with three guys. Cellar lumber in Westerville puts every other source to shame when it comes to quality of decking. I would be happy to do a material list for you after you decide size and shape. 3) don't think about staining the new deck for 6 to 9 months. A properly prepared / stained deck should last 2 - 3 years unless in alot of direct sunlight. Verticals maybe 5 years. It should take no more then 5 hours out of your life every couple years. If you like wood, and most of us can't afford composite, thats not too bad. Hope this helps. Ron
  14. Ron here... call my son Dan (89 5.0) at 614-327-4814. He has a couple questions and wants to take a look. Thnaks.
  15. All I can say about franchising is try to talk to as many current franchise owners that have actual experience and are working with your target. Don't believe everything you hear although the law is specific and REALLY tough (as in GO TO JAIL) on anyone misleading you about earning potential of a franchise. A "business opportunity" is different... they can blow any color smoke up your rear they want. It took me almost a year of research, reviewing financials and conversations to finally throw the switch on Deck Rescue... FYI: Regan Rodregaz (sp) in Columbus holds monthly meetings downtown to introduce hot franchises to potential prospects. He is VERY good at introducing the parties to each other. Ron
  16. Cash is KING in starting a business. Reading is the second best way to be sucessful. NO partners is just about the best advice anyone could offer. Having a GREAT business plan (probably takes a minimum of six months to prepare), staying on track, working LONG days and nights and being able to focus on your goals will help. If you are married... well, you will be tested! Read "SELF MOTIVATION FOR THE SELF EMPLOYED" BY Martin Edic and then read some more. Read whenever you have time. I'm sure others here can recommend other books and guidelines. Why try to reinvent the wheel? Thousands of others have been here before and some offer GREAT advice. I own a franchise now and follow the basic guidelines and doing OK in this sick freakin economy. I would never go back to working for someone else and have to worry if he got laid last night to see if I had a job the next day. Good luck... sad to say but you will need it! Avalable anytime as I'm sure others are for advice. Ron
  17. To help narrow this down, this is what is on the back panel on the Home Theater unit. FM antenna - no problem Video out - now to the HDTV, see single wire question below Ipod - no problem "HDMI Out" - not currently used "Component Out" - three RCA jacks labeled PR (red), PB (blue) and Y (green) "AUX IN 2" - two RCA jacks labeled L (white) and R (red). "Digital Audio In, Optical" - small square plug, no idea what this is for 2nd question... single video cable came with the Home Theater... should I run a HDMI cable from the Home Theater to the HDTV? Will the pic on DVD's inprove over the single wire cord? Hope this helps. Remember I'm trying to get the HDTV to play through the 5.1. Thanks again.
  18. I've read the instructions but don't see anything on how to play the HDTV (sports, movies) back through the 5.1 Home Theater. The DVD's sound is awesome, CD's are too but shouldn't the HDTV be able to be played throught the systems 6 speakers as well? Best Buy has a Samsung 5.1 1000 watt unit on sale (5 speakers, 1 sub) for $159 and although I know it probably doesn't compare to the high end units, this is plenty for the small room I have it set up in. No it's not Blue Ray, and it doesn't have a 5 disc changer but the combo with my 46" Panasonic 1080 is perfect for my viewing and listening. Watched WANTED last night and was blown away! I think this is a great entry level system and the sound, as far as I can tell is worth every penny. If you know how to solve this problem please let me know. Happy holidays to you'all. Ron
  19. Cut and paste this url to go to the NASA RACE CARS FOR SALE OR RENT and you will get a good idea of what is available and some prices. Don't even think of trying to build a competitive road car from scratch. It will probably cost you three or four times as much as buying a race prepped car. http://www.nasaforums.com/viewforum.php?f=31&sid=ff2838022249f7534cc7e89f10a75614 And, racingjunk.com also has another listing of road race cars. Again I say... GO TO A RACE OR TWO BEFORE YOU LOCK IN ON ANYTHING. URL for NASA is http://www.nasaproracing.com Go to Forums for discussions on every class they support. Ron
  20. If you are considering a dedicated track car I would suggest taking some time to research what SCCA, NASA and possibly some of the other race organizations that run Mid Ohio are supporting. Go to a couple races, the pits are always open and drivers are happy to discuss their rides. Although there is a class somewhere for everything during the learning process... if you want to go road racing you will want to find a class with some good competition, not just a couple entries at events. If you are looking at a car to use as a driver AND track car, be prepared for tires, brakes and safety equipment as a minimum investment. For starters a decent spec cage could run 3 to 5 grand and worth it. Having been on track in my AI Mustang with the Subies I can tell you that they are awesome, and very fast overall. As mentioned earlier, the Factory Five (Cobras) spec class cars are not that wild (stock 5.0 225 HP) and probably another way to go. Good luck.
  21. 89 5.0 5 speed pretty sweet and a 4.6 black vert 5 speed conversion by Mike Ward. Dans cars but they live with me! Ron
  22. Looking for a garage with easy access for the winter months in or close to Pickerington. Would like to rent from November to April. Three of us have cars to store / work on over the winter. 4 to 6 car minimum. Heat a plus. Thanks. Ron cell 614-638-3938.
  23. I need two healthy guys tomorrow that are not afraid to put in a tough day. I will be completely removing a large deck and need strong labor. Experience would help. We have all the tools needed. Pay is $12 to $15 per hour depending on how productive you are. Cash paid at the end of the day. Hours are 9 to 5 and the job is in Pickerington. I have a dumpster to load the deck into. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks, Ron cell 614-638-3938
  24. Wife called yesterday to tell me the dash lights and windows were not working. Told her to turn off and restart and all was OK. Next time we started it same problems, turn off & restart OK but happened a couple times after that. Still runs great (3.8 non super chged) but this has me baffled. I hate intermittent problems. Any ideas. Can't even think about the pain of taking it to a dealer for service. Thanks, Ron
  25. Mike did a kick ass job dropping the AOD and installing the 5 speed in my black 97 GT vert. Dans 89 Fox has had it's share of tweaking on Mikes dyno too... 338 at the wheels NA. I hope to have Mike build a 347 this winter and shoot for 450+ NA. He knows his stuff and isn't bad on pricing. Ron & Dan
