(yes this is Crossle's daily driver - moving into a newer MR2 - something about mid engined cars in the genes....)
Go to school. If you want to make real money - learn and understand how computer controls and electrical theory work. There are a LOT of guys who can change oil/tires/brakes/exhaust - but real good driveability guys are hard to get. Some of my guys who call on shops on the west coast have top techs that make six figures - and all they do is look at data/wavefroms/etc. and supervise guys who actually do the grunt work. There aren't a lot of these guys - but more every year. While in school - work at a shop so you have some experience to show when you get out.
I hope they got a receipt from the people "testing" the object - some of the meteorite collectors (if that's what it is) can pay up to $1K per pound for them. Of course if it's an alien gonad, values may differ.....
Actually I have two realtors who are more or less "on-board" - they're willing to stand by for now as they understand my ability to better access the groups that would have a greater interest in the garage. Thanks for the offer though!
No rear a/c on this one - Cruise does work, A/C was working last summer once I topped it off - compressor clutch was a bit sluggish to engage sometimes, but compressor ran quiet and produced ice cold air once running (yes it has the old A6 compressor!)
Prospect house fell through - too much work for me. We are now in a holding pattern - realtors still on hold. Looks like we will continue to offer the house to a few car groups (CR, SCCA, etc.) until some of the interest that has been expressed dies down. I would MUCH rather see another car guy/gal get it rather than someone who just wants a storage box for their "non-car" junk!
One thing left on my shopping list - and Disney has seen fit to take it out of print!! Anybody got a good used copy they want to part with?

We see a lot of this - if battery voltage is below 10.5V, things start to go all wrong. Varies a bit from make to make - but the battery is the right place to start.
Just picked this up over on Craig's list:

Pick & Pull is having a 1/2 off sale Friday/Saturday/Sunday. If you need to do a little scrounging and avoid the mall.....
Bump - prospective new house found - going for second look Sunday - last call before realtors get involved (early December) - if serious, get in touch - offers considered. $125K still won't get it done - but $180K might! I'll know more if I make the offer on the new place.
Yes, it is Old Diesel's truck. With one more kid in the family driving, I had to review my stock of vehicles, and unfortunatly, this one has to go (neither my wife nor daughter want to drive it due to it's size). Would make a great tow vehicle for someone - that actually gets pretty fair mileage!
Need a great old tow vehicle? 1983 Chevrolet Suburban C20 - factory Banks Turbo kit, 3" exhaust (new muffler & TP), newer batteries and Michelin tires, trans rebuilt less than 1K ago. More details and photos here:

$2250 obo.
Pat - bought them much nicer for less money - all that and a 4 hour tow both ways, probably not the best deal. Engines do make good power cheap, transmissions are junk for continual hard use, parts getting harder to find. The Audi is probably a better way to go.
