Carbs? I assume then a 4 carb model - later body style? If the body is solid and the motor is still good, $400 probably isn't too bad. If it's got bad rot - there are people who specialize in them, but as with anything not so common - it get's expensive quickly.

I've just found some loose change around where people watch their kids baseball games. If work ever slows down, I want to make a couple of trips down into southern Ohio and hunt around a little - it's less hassle to heit the beaches after the season is over so you're not falling over people (or their kids aren't running over you).
-
Certainly a project where you wan't see several showing up wherever you go. The later ones (like in the link) are the better looking cars (IMHO) - the flat sixes can be built to run pretty strong. I drove a turbo spyder once and it was a blast!

I must be one of the OLD guys - I recently bought a White's Eagle II to do the same thing. I've been "learning" on the middle school ball diamonds near my house, but would like to find some older grounds to hunt.

Either number - or which number???

Dear Crazy-As-Bat-Shit-Lady: I am honored that you chose my ad for a mini fridge out of all the ads you could have chosen. It makes me feel good that my mini fridge will be supplying you with the ice cold beverages you've obviously become accustomed to. Next time you answer one of my ads, please note the following: 1. I am not Home Depot. If you travel thirty minutes to pick up a bulky 40-pound object, please come prepared with the necessary items you'll need to secure it to your vehicle. Yes, I have rope. I have a lot of rope. I have many different colors and sizes of rope. No, you can not have my rope. The ad said I was selling a fridge, not a fridge with rope. Nor was I selling a fridge with padding so that the pleather seats on your piece of crap car don't get marked up. 2. What part of 'buyer must pick up' in the ad was confusing to you? Yes, I have a vehicle. No, I don't want to haul your fridge all the way to East BumbleFuck on the hottest day of the year. No, I'm really really sure I don't want to do that. No, really. I'm sure. 3. Please call me only once with ALL your questions. I left for the day, and had 5 messages on my answering machine, the last one was at 10:30 pm. Frankly lady, you were sounding a bit too crazy by the end of the day. It's a fridge. A small metal box that keeps shit cold. I don't have the fridge's family tree. For all I know the fridge's was conceived by a slutty young Maytag that graced some hillbilly's side porch. I don't know the exact age of the fridge. I bought it a few months ago, I used it for a couple of days, ok, I lied, I used it a whole week. The fact is, you're not buying a race horse, you're buying a used fridge. 4. No, I will not knock $10 bucks off the price of the fridge because your anal retentive eyes picked up the ittiest, bittiest hairline scratch from across my driveway. I'm not making judgements on you, but I'm pretty damn sure Donald Trump didn't send you across the country to pick up a used fridge for Trump Towers. Though I'd wager the whole concept of the mini-fridge bar is a familar one to you. 5. Yes, you can unplug a fridge without any harm to the fridge. Believe me, the fridge is fine. The manufacturers have figured out a way to extend the life of a fridge that has been unplugged. Yes, I'm absolutely sure of that. No, you did not have to leave 2 messages about your concerns with the fridge being unplugged, and frankly it was a little embarrassing having the same conversation with you in my driveway where my neighbors could hear. 6. No, I don't have the operating instructions. I can write them down for you though: Plug fridge in. Open door. Put crap inside. Take crap out when it's cold. Eat or drink crap. 7. I am not a fridge pimp. I don't have any more fridges at that price. No, I don't know where you can get another fridge at that price. Yes, I know it's in great condition for the price, and I'm sure you'd like your other crazy-as-bat-shit-mini-fridge-buying-friends to have one just like it, but this is all I have. Here's a thought, there's this online classified ads website. Yeah, you may have heard of it, it's called CRAIGSLIST. I dunno, maybe, just maybe, in this great land of ours, there's another mini-fridge being advertised there. 8. Please remove my phone number from your address book. I think our relationship is over. Oh, and if you've added me to your AIM Buddy List, please delete me. Please. I beg you. Yours truly, The mini-fridge seller

Nice Hunter unit - was gone through (heads ets.) not long before the shop decided to upgrade to a more current model. Everything works, has all the strings and adapters for the heads. Would make a good machine for custom work as it can't be updated for current model year data - but can do and will store "custom" alignment specs. I just don't have the room in my new "downsized" garage - $250 614-668-5939

I guess I too am close minded against ILLEGAL immigrants. I have judged that they have broken our laws and should be arrested and returned to their own country (wherever that may be). They may be great and talented people - but they are now CRIMINALS for breaking the law. As to LEGAL immigrants - welcome - please assimilate into our culture and prosper as much as you work ethic will allow. I have some great middle eastern folks who run the carry out near my old home. GREAT customer service, friendly and a true asset to the neighborhood. Is this the close minded thinking you are referring to?

I don't consider myself republican or democrat - I am a conservative. I don't like the two party system either - but until a VIABLE alternative is established, that's what we are dealing with. Both parties in the system are full of corrupt, power hungry, money grabbing politicians. That said, in looking at the facts and past performance - overall and in most cases, I find more people in the "R" party speaking and acting in a way I find more in keeping with my viewpoints. I find, generally speaking, the people in the "D" party do not - and in fact, find many things they try to do are counterporductive to the whole country. As to other viewpoints, I will always listen, and can be persuaded to change my mind if the FACTS dictate. The problem is, much of what is presented as "fact" is a conclusion drawn from bad information - garbage in-garbage out.
-
Not so much the battery as loosing the system ground(s). If you're doing connections - best to just to them all - clean and tight.
-
Clean the battery terminals, grounds and power connections first-regardless of how they "look" (check the battery too just for good measure).....then start worrying about the bigger $$$ fixes...

As stated before - the flashing MIL is for a type "A" misfire - the type that is bad enough to damage the cats. Codes for other stuff are just that - at 11 years old, depending on the miles and how driven, the front O2's probably need replaced for maintenance reasons (they do wear out). That's not to say it will make the O2 codes go away. The fact you don't have an EGR on the car and on a '96 (OBDII) it is monitored by the PCM isn't going to help matters. The problem is, on an OBDII car, the PCM looks at a lot of stuff - and cross checks it to other sensors - when you start modifying stuff without the knowlege of how it all interacts - you get these types of problems. Is the shop responsible? Depends on what you paid them for - if it was to install headers and cut outs - well that's what they did. The fact is may cause other issues is not necessarily their responsibility. You need someone with a good scan tool and an understanding of how all these systems interact - particularly when modded to sort this out. It could be the car is too lean with the headers/cutouts, the injectors can't keep up (lean misfire) and this can set an O2 code because their not in the range the PCM wants to see. But hey, I'm just pissing in the wind because I haven't seen the car - I'm just a Master Tech guessing on very limited information.....

OK - lets look at the facts - and look at how it's handled: 1) Are there bad eggs and deviants in the republican party just like in the democratic party - absolutely. 2) Craig (GOP) MAY have solicited gay sex in a public restroon - the republicans run him out. Barney Frank (DEM) probably has had gay sex in a mens room and allowed his house to be used for a prostitution ring - he is a respected senior democratic congressman??? 3) Foley (GOP) sends lewd text messages to underage pages - the republicans run him out - Gerry Studds (DEM) HAS SEX with a page - gets censured and then recieved two standing ovations from his liberal supporters when he returns home. We won't even discuss the histories of the democratic "heroes" of Ted Kennedy and Bill Clinton. The difference is VERY clear - the republicans have problems, but clean up (and out) when problems come to light. The democrats rally round their deviants and make excuses for their behavior - often praising it as "couragious". Looks like the party that actually acts like it has some values and morals is clear.

Brilliant - I heard about this on the news - no profanity, no one got hurt, no property was destroyed - he ought to get extra credit for all the effort!!!

Current Economy cars VS Economy cars of yesteryear
craig71188 replied to thorne's topic in Passing Lane
Oh, do I feel old.... Economy cars of yesteryear for me: Pinto Vega Capri I Capri II Fiesta Chevette Engines ranging from 1.6L to the BIG 2.8L V6 with all of 105 hp (from the big Holley/Wber 2bl carburetor)!!! I was working for Nationwise A.P. selling 5 quart jugs of oil (long before they came back as gallon (4 qt) jugs today - and watch the people go out and just dump some in these things every time they put gas in them. We had Honda Civic's too: http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:9XN6y5ErfLVjJM:http://www.channel4.com/4car/media/100-greatest/03-large/48-honda-civic.jpg It was a step up from the "600": http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:TT9qRVzkc8AJXM:http://www.microcar.org/2001/34a.jpg And "70" series tires were WIDE, "60" series VERY WIDE, and "50" series were for race cars - on the rear ONLY - and for the most part bias ply. If any of the above mentioned terms are not familiar to you - congratulations! You didn't miss much! -

Go to AutoZone's online site - look for "repair guides" and find the data. Since 'Zone bought Alldata (or was it Mitchell) they have added this type of information to their site. Best of all it's free and you don't have to do any kind of registering. -
