  1. Len Immke used to have one of the more unique car collections in Columbus back in the late 80's. Even had a mid 50's corvette / thunderbird hybrid (Literally using parts from both) in his stable. The location on Dublin road (close to 5th avenue) was where it was located. I know that location was shut down and really wonder where all the cars went. I believe it was 80 - 100 cars. I remember a 3 -4 Buick Riv's (Hideaway headlight types) Corvettes T-Birds Couple grey market Mercedes (I was told some we being held for Dave Thomas @ from Wendy's) Some old cars (30 - 40's) Multiple Rolls Royce's Do not recall any racing cars My first job was @ Hammond's Electronics and I used to install factory (Like) stereos and sunroofs in new Honda's and Buicks. Went to this location one to two days a week. Seems like 30 years ago... Wait it was : )
  2. Don't we have a motorcycle museum out close to Pickering (Kind of auto)??
  3. Agreed sounds like you lost the system board. suggest going into the Bios and reset to factory settings as this might reset something that the update process may have caused. If not its time to buy the Surface Pro listed on CR for $400 buckaroos. = Shameless plug for someone on CR I do not know : )
  4. Always liked the looks of the first gen Stangs and as mentioned above getting this clean example (50 years old) is crazy lucky. Most have about 4 pounds of bondo on each side or the second or third set of quarter panels welded in. GL with the build and post up some periodic updates (Pics or build details)..
  5. Not to steal a thread, but what other than the whole drive train, bad window regulators and warranties that suck is wrong with these Rovers? Rovers were recently rated as one of the highest repeat buyers (Sadomasochism)?
  6. Unsure why I like the Land Rover Freelanders (Looks only) so much. If I thought I could strap in a good V6 (Or a small V8) I would so grab one of these with a blown motor and do a swap. This example is a super clean (Older) 2002. $1000.00 http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/cto/5390977226.html [url=http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/cto/5390977226.html]
  7. I guess I am the albatross in this case. I can only assume this echo's back to my first job at Hammond Electronics (Hammonds nose stereos). I was always wrenching on these cars installing stereos and the interiors were horrible. The interior door handles constantly ripped/broke, plastics were always cracking and that damn center console was always being removed to do something with the head unit or some small shove (Wire tied up under the dash) amplifier. Give me a first gen firebird/formula anytime (Maybe an early 70 "ish" Formula?) Also those engines were really starting to feel the "Beat down" of emissions. I think the 78 or 79 TA's were only rated (6.6 / 403 CU) at about 200 ponies. What would have cemented the second generation Firebirds would have been transplanting the GN or the GNX motor (It should have been close to production at this time)..
  8. Nice set of vehicles @ the Toy Barn, but had to chuckle about the blast from the past in the back of pic #3. Hard to believe anyone still buys/likes the late 70's Pontiac Trans AM 's. Can you say Sally Fields and Burt Reynolds (Bandit) Yes jealous about the car and unfortunately not in my budget : ( Andy GL finding another Porsche for the stable..
  9. Chris - These are optimized servers and built to support Virtualization (They should). I still have ran into an Intel proc that would not support it (Assume they may not be optimized to run it). As for HypV and VMware they are the most prevalent with the exception of maybe Rev for Linux? Seriously grab a Mid range Core i7 and 16 - 32 Gigs of RAM and be stable/happy.
  10. From a Server guy please stay away from server hardware for the house unless you have a space to quiet the server down. I had a Dell 2950 and it worked well, but sooo darn loud and expensive (power hungry) to run. Go for a case with a 120 mm fan. Go Intel and cannot think a reason to run ECC memory? Also why do you think running VM's on Intel processors is an issue. I am running (Lightly) a Celeron processors with 8 gig of RAM (Win 2016 Tech review) without issues. It is also the house NAS/Storage device with a couple Terabytes of disk space..
  11. Love the thread and keep reading.. Will start my quest (Search) in Feb when I start cleaning up the Z4MR.. Another complication hit the inter-webs in late November when Mazda said it was creating another RX variant that will arrive late this year (Unsure if a RX7 or RX9). Now wondering if I should wait and see the new Wankel / Rotary? Appreciate all the good info for all that contributed.. If not the new RX I will: Not look @ a Beetle fiberfab vehicle (As mentioned above love/hate) Might look at the tube frame (V6/V8) fiberfab versions if available and not something I can update the suspension Research some of the less complex (Older) BMW's (Still would love to turbo a BMW in-line 6) Research the Z06 mentioned above. The last Corvette I drove was a C4 and it was a heavy freaking sled (Sorry for those who have these) I drove a Sky about three years ago and the suspension and interior sucked (With 60K on the chassis)
  12. I have this one too (In the bronze color) and it is really nice. Still think it is better than the one that replaced it. If you are looking this is a nice one..
  13. Agree with the rest of the crew that you have a diverse group of cars. Also would love to see you transplant 13BT or REW in the RX2. Look forward to more progress on it and the Alpha..
  14. Another option is a discount one @ the local auction house (a couple end tonight)..A great time waster (Be careful to read and visit the presale and I am not affiliated) http://www.columbusonlineauctions.com/cgi-bin/mnlist.cgi?coa90/4
  15. I run a projector as my primary TV and pass everything through a receiver (Mine has 4 or 5 HDMI inputs. Also pairs well with a Logitech Harmony remote. Highly suggest (Mine is discontinued so I will not provide either models). Much better idea if you can cover the $$
  16. OK as I thought lots of good conversations (Thx too): Am I after something well balanced = Yes (light if possible) Two people mention turbo'ing the S54 is easy, but the write-ups I have seen they seem like a major PITA (OR fail in some cases). HPF sold their failed attempt on eBay recently for a loss. This is tied to the DCS (Antilock/traction control system) on the Z4M's. One option is a Supercharger kit for about $5.5K. Maybe an option Do I want something I can wrench on = Yuuuupppp (Storage wars) Older Z car was mentioned, but unless they are from the South they are worse than the FD's. I know where a 260Z sits, but looks to be gone.. Drive line - RWD or AWD is OK, but not aware of a lot of turbo AWD 6's. Not wanting the FWD option (Sorry HART folks) Smokey / Chris - Yeah I have had 8 RX7's (Can you say I have a problem). Cost will probably be an issue Not a lot of experience here with Lotus. Maybe can look here (Turbo/FI)? Love the older Jag's, but not the XJ's (Maybe the XJ-s?). Anyone find me an E type or nutty XJ200? I guess I am looking for something abstract. Maybe something odd like a Triumph GT6 swapped. Or maybe a tube frame fiber fab (Jamaica like). Guess I need to do some trolling over the Jan/Feb timeframe and see what I might be able to Frankenstein. As always appreciate the good chat/comments from the CR members.
  17. The BMW (Z4MR running a stock configuration S54/6SMT) is sitting in the back of the garage and I am debating on selling her in the Spring. The car is immaculate and performs well, but I miss tinkering and forced induction. Previously I had a street ported / single turbo FD putting down about 400 ponies in a 2800 pound car (was a blast and unique). I would like to move to something comparable to the FD (Weight/thrust ratio) and looking for ideas. Really wanting to do a turbo Six, but a Dorito is still option (Maybe) and would need to be really clean/from the South. The last one I had was showing its age with rust and was the reason for the sale. Budget is in line with the Z4M (Approx $20 - 25K) Ideas: BMW is out as they are too expensive to turbo/super charge GTR too damn expensive (But very cool) Really not wanting a V8 because the additional weight/size (But do like the new Stang) Supras are also getting expensive (Unless I go for a older model). Already had an A70 (1987 - 2002) and want something different. Maybe I need to look @ an older turbo Audi or make retrofitting something into something Japanese?? Looking for ideas (What you may have done/thought about)
  18. Loved the Pontiac (RIP) funny car with the flames coming out the exhaust/hood. Nice work (From a non-photographer)
  19. Check w/the manufacturer on the m2 sata option (They typically call out what the support. Also a quick look @ the specs it says it is a half height SATA slot (Made for a normal SSD and not the MSATA. Pull out your manual or engage support to validate. Secondly I would highly suggest getting the 250 Gig or better as the sxs (Side by side) over time will push that little 120 and you will be fighting space for the OS.. Lastly if you get the Samsung SSD version they provide a migration utility to clone the platter/HD to your new speedy SSD. GL either way
  20. If temperature issue: Not plugs (Almost 100%) Coils - Still a maybe Cat's - Very possible Unlikely Apex seals (They typically get better when they warm up) But look on the bright side.. Now you can start sourcing the bigger motor (3 Rotor)!!
  21. Plugs - Not likely (But they always burn rich and worth replacing) coils - Ask around local to see if anyone has a set laying around Not - Apex seal unless it ate itself (I have had a couple and they just loose power or don't start) - Pull plug (One on each rotor) and use a small Maglite to shine into the plug hole. Usually can see if the apex went kaboom Doubt the computer will tell you anything, but worth a trip to the local auto store for free Cat's common problem for the REW's (I know this is a renesis) above 75K and might be an issue. Again maybe a code from the computer about an O2 issue?? (Really wondering about this being the cause!!) Lastly gl!!
  22. Other good rotten items: Cream cheese Sour cream Sauerkraut Dirty rotten scoundrels (Older movie with Steve Martin) Yeah I like wine a bit..
  23. I like the idea about having your girlfriend snap photos.. Robin is the owner @ Wyandot Winery and does dinners and tastings as well as gift certificates. Great guy and rates very well.
  24. Any issues stopping by after dark? I am a 7 - 6 working class slob (IT of course). Also Pinterest.. Wow assume someone in the house/apt must be on it to frequently and just before bed.. Surprised it did not include Trump and a legalization chat
