  1. these are some of the funniest posts i've ever seen. to the original poster---sell your car, buy a reliable cheap daily, and get loans for school. i want to say that you will make it, and succeed in your college ambitions, but i bet that you will fail (i have to take the safe bet)
  2. you can fit 275 nitto drag radials with no modifications, and other larger drag radials with a spacer and rolled fender. that being said, the car gets pretty good traction for having IRS and 245's on the back.
  3. i was joking. but seriously, i'll run your mach with my GTO for $100. and then again with my cobra for $15,000. how does that sound? there's a guy on here with an '06 GTO, who i believe has run 12.2 or 12.3 with a cam, longtubes, tune and a filter with drag radials. he's in another thread asking what he needs (safety-wise) when his car gets into the 11's--which it probably will on friday. and STOCK, does not mean h-pipe or drag radials--unless the person on the assembly line accidentally put them on your car.
  4. i know. i made the comment to get a reaction out of the other guy with a mach1 for saying GTO's look like cobalts. styling is purely subjective--just about everyone with a GTO loves the way they look. and although there appear to be quite a few in columbus, they're not too common--just like cobras and machs. stock for stock, a mach1 vs. GTO race is a great race
  5. you're absolutely right. 90% of college is just effort, and not knowledge--that's what i found
  6. relax, it was a joke. i can't afford to be racing people for $20.
  7. i'm bringing my cobra friday, so relax.
  8. well then, i guess a GTO is fairly close to a cobalt---except for a completely different interior, completely different body panels, corvette 400hp LS2 motor, with T56 6 speed, bigger brakes, different wheels, tires, etc. etc. and the fact that the LS2 goat is entirely faster than a cobalt (and your mach 1 for that matter). but i like your smoked headlights
  9. i understood what you were saying. its possible that you don't drive your car recklessly--but young people tend to drive more recklessly (in general), regardlessly of how much influence their parents have over them. just watch the exit of a high school at the end of the day and watch everyone pull out of the lot if you think otherwise.
  10. or you could get an '04 mustang GT, they look exactly like mach 1's
  11. the GTO makes a better daily, but this would also be a great idea---would be far more powerful right from the start
  12. well that's a chance you take when you buy a used car. not knowing anything else about the owner (whether they're a 'car guy', or not), would you rather buy a sports car off a 22 year old, or a 45 year old??
  13. AGE has EVERYTHING to do with it rob. i know it, insurance companies know it, but apparently some people here don't---and they're usually under the age of 25!! young males are more likely to drive reckless, that's why their insurance rates are highest. i've owned my '87 mustang GT for 11 years--my insurance went down when i turned 25, then it went down again when i got married. the insurance company has done the research and knows that older people are less likely to drive recklessly and cause accidents. driving recklessly includes everything from run-of-the-mill speeding, to burnouts, drag-racing, etc. austin's blue C5 Z06 was fairly close to stock---sam's car was modded to the hilt. you're comparing apples to oranges. if you buy a heavily modded car, you had better look it over with a fine-toothed comb and suspect it was driven hard. when buying a used car, you should always ask very specific questions about how the car was cared for, and see how the owner responds--if they seem shifty, or you suspect they're lying, then you should move on. but not knowing anything about the person (other than age), who here would buy a sports car (say a corvette) from a 22 year old male, over a 45 year old guy???
  14. all things being equal, i'd buy a sports car off of a 35+ year old way before someone under the age of 25, and so would anyone with any amount of sense. back on topic. the sti is not a bad car at all, and you can drive it all season without worries
  15. i might be able to make saturday, but could definitely do sunday--whatever everyone wants
  16. no that's fine. i'm insanely busy with work, twins, and setting up moving so i 'could' do this, but if someone else is already working on it, that's even better. i can help out, just let me know. i like the idea of rotating around the city.
  17. while there are exceptions, people who graduate college with a degree, make more money than those that don't go to college. this is not opinion, its fact.
  18. GTO will be cheaper than any other car mentioned so far by quite a bit. do your homework, and look around for the right one--a low mileage, bone stock, adult-owned '05/06 with a 6 speed GTO will be $10k less than a G8, and $20k less than the new camaro, and $20k less than a used LS2 vette. i've had my GTO for 10 months, and love it. i looked around for one for several months before one came along that i had to get. i paid $21k for my '05 and it was owned by a 40yr old guy, was bone stock, and had under 11k on the clock. the only kicker was i had to fly out to wisconsin, buy it, and drive it 500 miles home. i still have 6 months left on the warranty and now 17k miles. people who know about cars give me compliments all over the place, while most average douchebags on the road have absolutely no idea what the car is (which is COMPLETELY fine by me)--i can't stand EVERY assfuck in a minivan or a dodge ram who tries to rev at me when i'm in my cobra--you simply won't get this negative attention with the GTO. i've sat in a lot of sports cars/sedans/etc. and the GTO is amongst the most comfortable (yet not too soft) you will find.
  19. i haven't been to the track in 8 years, might only go once in the next couple years, so i would get not much usage out of a helmet. but i still bought one---you can get a snell approved helmet at iron pony for $50. the one i bought was $80. its an HJC helmet?? $50 is not too much
  20. i love my GTO---its an incredible daily driver. speed, comfort, and styling (subjective). mine makes 372rwhp
  21. 90% of college success involves just SHOWING UP TO EVERY CLASS. that's what i did, and things worked out pretty well for me. everyone around me who was 'blowing off' their classes, now works as a slave in a cubicle ala office space.
  22. uh, i'd say the reviews suck so far, but that's me. i passed one, one time on the freeway in 6th gear, and didn't even realize he was trying to run me.
  23. went to iron pony and paid $80 for a snell approved helmet. i had no idea what a redneck's paradise that store is---like the size of a walmart. nothing wrong with being a redneck.
