i have a somewhat similar situation. my father constantly tries to put his $.02, every chance he gets. my parents live 8 hours away, but when my father comes to visit, he inspects my house and tells me i need to check for a gas leak, i need to stop giving my kids so many toys, my kids eat too much junk food, we need to child-proof the house more, i shouldn't spend so much money on this/that, etc. i've learned to just accept it over the years, and just blow it off---it irritates my wife beyond belief. since they live 8 hours away, they're only able to visit a couple times a year. i've learned all the things that will elicit an over-protective, or over-bearing response from my father, and i just don't tell him these things. if i buy a new car, i don't tell him. if we buy something for the kids, i don't tell him. when my daughter needed stitches, i told my father a few months later. i guess its a way to eliminate some of the unwanted behavior from him, yet help my wife keep her sanity, so that when my parents DO visit, things are pleasant

affirmative. none-the-less, i'm not one to read directions when it comes to electronics. i like to plug and play. that's why i like our flip-video recorder so much. you literally flip out the usb port and plug it in. unfortunately, even the higher quality flip recorder leaves a lot to be desired, and simply, cannot be used like the go-pro. i'll be honest, i have not put the proper time into learning how to use the camera.

i'll have to try that. i tried hooking the camera up to the computer with the usb cable, and was able to transfer the video, but it then said something about buying and uploading software from apple to put the videos online :dumb:

still doesn't have the power that my caddy has^^ but i have to admit, its a sharp car. part of my problem involves living an hour away from the dealership. logistically, its just a pain to have to take the car in for anything, when i live so far away. we'll see. i've given the 'general' a lot of business over the last couple years. my next car will likely be something a bit more upscale.

i would agree, that i'm not completely happy with my gopro--i can't figure out how to upload the videos. they made the camera just a bit too complicated imo.

don't know what you guys are talking about breaking shit. i have a completely stock longblock pushing 600rwhp since 2007, with no issues. i have the head cooling mod. and, of course, i bought my car brand new and know that its been cared for well, since new--not sprayed with a 150shot, and/or pushed to 30 psi (hal). if you're looking for the write up on the head cooling mod, check out svtperformance.com, under the 'terminator' section. theres a section called 'how-to'. i have a thread that's been stickied for years titled the 'complete how-to thread'---tons, tons of information on that thread regarding these cars. some of the stuff is outdated, but i've bought 4 other sports cars since my cobra, and, well, priorities change. good luck. if you build a solid shortblock and don't push at least 20psi through it, you're failing.

svtperformance.com is your friend. its been done many, many times. cooler swap, and maybe even cheaper would be to swap a new 5.0 into the car, and slap a blower on it. with 5.0's going into the f150's they can be had for pretty cheap. that's ultimately my plan for my '85 fox. post up some pictures of past/present cars and enjoy the ride

you're buying a 100k mile, 12 year old car. be realistic. other than that, follow the advice stated above. don't worry about 300 vs 315 hp. either you're going to mod it, or you're not going to mod it. if you mod it, then an upgraded chip and ported intake won't mean shit to you, because that is essentially ford's 'fix' to the (embarassing) issue.

i love living in a neighborhood of 9 homes---we can do pretty much whatever you want. everyone has firepits, trailers, 4 wheelers, snowmobiles, etc. i'm not sure i could live again, in such a huge neighborhood.

and.............................................................. after all is said and done, you'll be right at the price of an aluminator. i swear i thought the shortblock was $4500. not that bad for an aluminum, forged bottom end. you have to pay to play.

honestly, i'd sell the block and crank on craigslist, and just go with an aluminator and be done with it. the aluminator should be able to handle what you're looking for power-wise. assuming its a teksid block, you'll pull some decent cash for it. finding a shop locally to machine everything to spec, assemble everything properly the first time, and stand behind their work is a tall order if you ask me.

yeah, it would piss me off to see a car parked in the street in front of my house, and a boat trailer in the driveway year round. i don't care if you move the shit around every day, its still sitting at your house. you need to store the trailer/boat if you live in a 700 home neighborhood. just my thoughts. yeah, your neighbor is annoying the shit out of you and a bit crazy---but i'd be willing to bet some of your other neighbors say shit behind your back about how annoying it is to see your shit stored all over--- obviously, you need to post a picture of the situation to know for sure how much of an eyesore this is.

see the post above yours--motorcycle battery may leak acid if the car flips or rolls over, etc. you need an enclosed battery. not worth the risk of acid burning your kid, and the 12 volt batteries can be had for $20. i charge mine with a car charger that plugs into the wall--takes a couple hours. if you're on carpet (the 6 volt cars can be driven indoors) and the car gets traction, you will do a wheelie.

that's exactly what the linked article in post #1 of this thread implies. honestly, does this surprise anyone?? and this question is not directed towards the individual we're talking about, but directed towards OSU/college football/NCAA sports in general.
