  1. Inbreeding is bad, m'kay? http://www.youtube.com/user/GuruTewl
  2. Or pick up an oldschool 70's Fairlady Z and swap in a Skyline drivetrain.
  3. You tell me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MOHggP1VkA Makes me want to try that.
  4. Oh, if you want a crazy fast car that really sticks and doesn't have too much HP, mod up a Lotus Exige Cup 240. It weighs nothing, so a little bit of hp goes a LONG way. It DOMINATES the HP races.
  5. Yeah, the 1K HP cars were a handful. I prefer a max of about 650-700hp. You just have to roll into the throttle. Also, the first lap is always slippery because the tires need to heat up. Once they're green, they stick much better. The R class cars have tons of grip and the R1s are just insane. Try the time trial on the Nurburgring with the Porsche 917.
  6. There's a duct. The LSx f-body airboxes have their opening towards the front. The hood has a cavity behind the nostrils that knocks the rain out of incoming air and has slots in the back that line up with the opening in the airbox. Ram Air hasn't really been *RAM* air for a long time. Really, it's just a way to get cold air fed directly to the airbox. Not that Ram Air is greatly functional. I think you get maybe 1psi of pressure at 100mph or something like that. The "Free Ram Air" mod works just as well as the hood, though the hood doesn't heatsoak the intake as quickly as the mod.
  7. The default setups in Forza 2 are pretty good. The best thing to do is start with a default setup and then tweak ONE thing WAY WAY out of wack. Hit the track and see what it does. Then reset to defaults and try another. When you get a basic idea of what does what, take the default setup out for some laps. Figure out what you don't like about the car's handling and then start tweaking the thing that controls that a little at a time. But honestly, you can do really well with the default suspension setups. Aero is easy. Max it out. Then if you start understeering in high speed corners, back off the rear aero. If you oversteer in high speed corners, back off the front aero. But if you're in a power-limited race, or one based on pure speed, run as little downforce as possible. As for upgrades: Less weight, more tire, easy on the rims. Less weight makes EVERYTHING better. More tire makes cornering and braking better. And I've NEVER had need for using anything larger than an 18" rim.
  8. Been watching it bit by bit since YouTube is running slow and just went: Holy Shit! @1:08 Tire Deflection!!! If Tire Deflection is being modeled, that's just incredible. I hope they have multiple suspension models this time. F2 only had one model (The SAI was reversed on the Subarus). GT5 should be cool too. It's supposed to have Rallying also.
  9. Can't wait. I'm ready for GT5 and F3... Though I'm hoping there will be a better wheel available for the 360 when F3 comes out. The MS one is nice, but there are much better wheels for PS3.
  10. I'm actually somewhat interested in the Fram toughguard filters.. They have a screen over the bypass (if the filter has one.)
  11. It is supposed to be an add-on for the 360. It's possible it can be done with the cam they have now, but more likely it'll be done with dual high-rez cameras. It'll probably look like the Wii's sensor bar.
  12. Yup. 5q of Valvoline conventional and a Fram for 14.99. I haven't been with the company long, but the last three fliers have all had a conventional oil change deal (5q and a filter) for 14.99. (We also have high mileage 19.99 and synth 24.99 deals, and this month we also have a Mobil 1 deal 29.99)
  13. That's what people thought of the Wii...
  14. Seems like Microsoft is planning to make the PS3's Eye Toy and the Nintendo Wii look like half-assed ideas. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSWERIJvve8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31nxqR3mBjw
  15. Holy crap! That's like watching a live-action anime.
  16. Any reason why you're stuck on getting a pickup? Do you need to haul stuff for work?
  17. by real speed, I meant above walking. I'd be scared to drive it any faster than on the video. As for what it's built for? I'm pretty sure it's built just so they can say they mounted those wheels. ..ignoring all the other big-wheeled trucks that can actually turn correctly...
  18. A penis enlargement FORUM no less.. Guess there's a forum for anything.. I wonder if theres's one for Nigerian money transfers. Oh yeah, penis surgery gone wrong... ick.
  19. This is why I didn't skimp on the uninsured driver part of my insurance policy.
  20. The one in my STI (which I think is a mitsubishi unit, believe it or not) is a small stalk mounted to the wheel itself in the 4 o'clock position. Press button on the end to enable cruise. Up is Resume/Accel Down is Set/Decel Pull to cancel Up/Down translates more intuitively into faster/slower than Slide this, Push that.
  21. I used to be a GM guy... I even kept optimistic when everything went to shit. But the last three GM vehicles I've driven (one I have to drive every day at work) have been disappointing pieces of SHIT. GM had a great product in the past but it appears they've given up and have employed people who are complete idiots in their design department. HARD plastic interiors that are textured to look like leather or colored to look like metal... REALLY?? Are they fooling anyone? Even my 1986 Corolla has a padded vinyl dash and window sills, and plastic that looks like plastic. A Cobalt the store rented had power windows, doors, locks, and mirrors, but no cruise control. On a Drive-by-wire car? They cut a couple dollars worth of buttons so they can charge hundreds as an optional upgrade. Nothing like trying to gouge your customers for more money rather than offering a feature to increase the value of the car. A pickup with the WORST suspension I've ever felt, a transmission that TRIES to be in the wrong gear, and manual everything WITH cruise control. Same company, polar opposite choices.. wtf? But I guess to make up for providing a feature, they decided to be sure the CC controls are as unintuitive as possible. (Switch for on, button for set, slide switch for resume, press button for decellerate, slide for accelerate, and switch the whole CC off to cancel.) On a stalk that looks very much the same as the stalk that my 1998 T/A had; which was considered outdated back then as well. I've lost faith in GM.
  22. That's what makes it fun for everyone else!
  23. Ehh.. Nearly got stuck, and has to steer with the rear wheels. I'll bet the rear axle is just a front axle turned around which means the caster angle will make it hugely unstable at any real speed. Seen much better big trucks. Like most "donk" conversions, it's planned to fit the big wheels first and all other considerations after.
  24. Not for the SCCA or any dragway, or any other racing organization. It comes down to cost. It'd probably be a couple hundred per day. I think having a place available at night for racing would help. It's too bad it'd be impractical to get a hold of a stretch a mile or more long. Then people could do 40 rolls and the like..
