I don't recall eMachines every using non-standard pinouts (Like Dell did once), but the housings were hardly ever standard. You could plug an industry-standard PSU into an eMachines mobo, but you couldn't mount it in the case.

True, but this is hardly a byproduct, but rather the intent. I don't believe Apple made the new shuffle and then said "Oops!" Getting every penny from the accessories, including skimming off the aftermarket was the plan from the moment they designed the shuffle without controls. It's a Triple-Win for Apple. They get money from the aftermarket from licensing, and more from sales of the verification chip. This drives the price of aftermarket accessories up which allows them to bump their own prices for accessories since people will pay a premium for Apple-branded accessories. More income sources, and higher profit margins. If anyone thinks Apple didn't plan all of this from the start, they're fooling themselves.

If MS had made their own hardware and made sure their product only works on their hardware (and vice versa), the justice department would have broken them up. If MS had insisted that anyone who wants to make hardware for Windows had to buy a license and a special chip, you can be sure there would have been more than fines.

I'm clear on the basics of two-step. But there is a *single* gunshot sound when the car leaves. As Kenny said, it's the tires apparently. I thought it might be the wastegate because that's the only thing with enough pressure behind it that might be dumped at launch. At this level of boost I wasn't sure, so I figured there might be some fiddling with the WG and BOV to get a good launch. However, I was way off the mark, and it's the tires. I'm surprised at that. I guess turbos muffle the exhaust enough so you can hear it, which would explain why I've only heard it on various Supra vids.

Is anyone surprised? They only get away with this stuff because poor little Apple was beat up on by big bad Microsoft. Honestly, if MS had tried HALF the stuff Apple gets away with, the government would have broken them up when they had that run-in a while ago. And the worst part? Apple fans will buy this stuff up like its candy and see nothing wrong with it. You know that if Apple actually made that iWheel laptop, they'd sell some of them.

Silly question: There's a gunshot-like sound right as the car launches. I've heard it in Supra videos as well. The only thing I can think it might be would be the wastegate dumping exhaust so the car can hook. Or am I off the mark?

Semi-repost. But people like this piss me off. How fucking lazy can you be that you can't handle TURNING THE FUCKING WHEEL? I would gladly pay more to have my license renewed if they would actually TEST people (i.e. reaction time, awareness, crash avoidance, spin control) and deny a license to those that can't drive. But no, if you can't pass the tests, they'll hold your hand until you do. They say a license is a privledge, not a right, but really, it's both. Whichever it is depends on what will make the state more money at the moment.

I agree on Soundgarden.. I also miss Alice in Chains. But Rage needed to break up, sorry. Old Rage was good, but Zach was getting too full of himself. The last album of theirs I bought I owned for less than a day. I sold it to a used record store when I realized I had just paid money to have someone yell at me.

But not as it's pictured. The suspension was designed to move through a particular range. When you slam a car with coilovers, you're moving the components of the suspension out of the proper static position to one of the extremes. At that point, the suspension is going to be less effective. Suspension isn't just about dampers and springs; there's a ton of geometry involved that goes with it. True race cars that are lowered have had their suspension geometry modified so that, even when the body is that low, the suspension is still sitting in the sweet spot of it's range. And that's not taking into consideration the spring rates he must be running to keep the tires from rubbing on the fenders. Same with a slammed Civic on $500 coilovers, I'm sure it feels darty and quick, but at the limit it's going to skitter across the road like a lunch tray. The good thing about the setup on the vette, if what you say is right, is that it can be adjusted to handle well; whereas a Civic on cheap coilovers can never handle well.

Very nice. However, I have to wonder how well it handles with it slammed like that. But then, handling doesn't seem to be this guy's priority.

A couple tweaks and these two statements could have been about Computer tech support. I don't miss that job.

This problem might be partially the fault of their computer system. It might not be able to give them a part number without a car.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Seems like SATA and Devilbiss are the ones to have. Now a lot of you have multiple guns for the different stages. How neccesary is this? Is it just a convenience thing, so you don't have to clean the gun to go from base to color to clear?
