I like it. Just downloaded it from XBox Live and gave it a twice-through.
Yeah, yeah. Some of you will cry foul considering my flaying of NFS:Uc. But I do like this game. Whereas the aforementioned PoS tries to pass itself off as a racer, this sells itself as an action movie with a controller and does just that.
Granted, I've only played the demo, but it's pretty fun. Wheel compatibility is shaky, but that may be because it's a demo.
The game has Vin in it, no surprise there, and the requisite badass hot chick. You're running from the cops and trading paint. What interesting is the game mechanics they've added for this. Rather than leaving you with the usual ramming and bumping, you get "Melee Attacks." They're completely unrealistic, but fun. You also have some gun attacks that are standard Action movie fare. One is a slow-down shot to take out key targets. But the other is straight out of Vin's other movies. The car does a 180, continues rolling backwards as you shoot at the bad guys behind you. Not the least bit realistic, but just plain fun.
However, the most mindbogglingly silly thing is also one of the coolest. You can carjack other cars by doing what's called an "Air Jack." You pull up behind the car you want and hold the B button until an indicator over the target car goes green. When it does, you release the B button and Vin will JUMP to the car ahead and jack it while still moving!
The sheer absurdity actually works in favor of this game. I go to action movies to see shit blow up, and this game delivers in that respect. Expect more from it, and you'll be disappointed, I'm sure. But if you're looking for a mindless car-filled action game, this is it. This game will also go over well with people who think GTA should have more Vin Diesel.
So I'd say the demo is definately worth the download, check it out if you have a 360. As for the full game, I'll likely be picking it up.
