  1. I *hate* FWD. But even I have to give the Mini respect. I don't know how the new ones match up to the classics in situations like that. But those older minis did EVERYTHING. And they did it suprisingly well for a FWD, hamster-powered, caster-wheeled, tinfoil box.
  2. I'd be up for any trip out there. But I was referring to the Central Ohio Subarus annual trip. For '07 there were about 40 subies. It was impressive.
  3. This is my first AWD car. For the last 9 New England winters I've been driving RWD cars, so I'm much better with that platform. But I'll say, there's no comparison in low traction conditions. With RWD I can rotate, place, and point a car MUCH easier than I can AWD right now. But there's NO way I can get a RWD car, even with snows, to accelerate out of a turn as well as my AWD car. Negotiating a turn in low traction conditions is essential, obviously. But you still have to get speed out of the turn and AWD can get the power down in bad conditions. Today was a blast. It is actually my third run this week. The varied surfaces keep you on your toes. Though this kind of driving on clean, dry roads is really intense. I better see you at Hocking Hills '08, Thorne!
  4. Very minor. I have a mid pipe with a resonator in it. I want the resonator cut out and a pipe of equal length welded in place. 1. Should I have the pipe on the car, or off? Would it be easier to keep the alignment of the flanges with it on the car? 2. How much should I expect to pay to have this done? 3. Any reccomendations on who I should have do this? Thanks for your advice.
  5. I've had no real issues with RR (except for the time they shut me off out of the blue. ). My issue is with the TV aspect. It's 2008 and there are ANALOG channels. The picture quality sucks on those channels, and is only OK on non-HD "digital" channels. I think there's still some analog equipment in there somewhere. Cable is SO superior to satellite that it can expereince "rain fade" even when there isn't any rain! And OnDemand, the ONE thing that Cable has over Satellite, doens't even work right. I purchased an HD OnDemand movie that was so broken up it was unwatchable.
  6. Yup, I deactivated a reciever when I got the STI which had one in-dash. With the WRX I set up the old reciever and it is still working. Very strange, but I'm not going to complain.
  7. I reccomend DirecTV. I had it before I moved out here and it was great. I really miss it and I think I might get an installer out here to see if I can get it at my apartment.. TWC blows compared to DirecTV
  8. I went Sirius when Stern was picked up. The first week alone paid for the unit in laughs. There are ads on the talk stations, but they're few and far between. There's NO commercials on the music stations. No censoring either. I did have the misfortune of listening to XM in my sister's car. Their channel lineup is confusing, and the names of their channels are even worse. (WTF kind of music is on "Lucy"?) Overall, I think Sirius is much better thought out and run. Granted, you might have some sports considerations, so I'd look into which carries what sport. But I don't listen to sports so it wasn't an issue for me. Also, if you want to play your radio in a public setting (say at work), you might want XM for it's censored channels. Right now, the only thing I hate (hate, Hate, HATE) about Sirius is Jason Ellis. He's cracked his head too many times on the pavement and thinks he's the second Howard. But people seem to think he's funny or something so he's now on TWO of my favorite channels. GRRR.
  9. I was wondering when tracks would start doing this. Despite entrance fees being so cheap, street racing is still popular. It's good to see them trying a street format.
  10. Three words: Leonard Part Six
  11. Ouce, or gram? I did use the phrase "over the top" twice. If you have trouble suspending your disbelief, then this movie definately not for you. I view movies as entertainment. If I see a movie and I'm entertained, then it's an ok movie. If it surprises me, then it's a good movie. It seems like people go to the movies nowadays expecting a life-chaning experience, or Mona-Lisa in motion. Granted, there are movies out there that will make you question your beliefs, or see the world in a new way. But this movie isn't one of them. Shoot 'Em Up is pure visceral Entertainment. And I enjoyed it.
  12. Good luck man. I certainly couldn't do that job.
  13. Well if it was tuned for 87, you probably won't see much gain going to 94 without a retune. Whereas if you're tuned for 94 and go with 87 without a return you'll see a big difference (if the engine doens't knock itself to pieces.) Thorne, have you thought of a 0% WGDC map to flash-in for when you won't be flogging the WRX? If anything, it'll help keep your lead foot from stepping on your wallet.
  14. That's new. I went through their whole website sign-up a few years ago and they specificly said that you recieved the car in two parts: Chassis and engine.
  15. Sounds like they aren't on sale yet. Even so, it's possible it would have been sold as a Kit Car so it could get though a lot of the red tape. The Ariel Atom is like that. You get the entire car less the engine and then the engine on a separate pallet. I would thikn though, that getting it officially approved lets Tesla become a real car manufacturer which proabaly has some benefits.. Hell, considering they sell electric cars, I'll bet they're in line for a bunch of fat government checks now that they're an official manufacturer.
  16. Another quick movie review from yours truly. Some didn't agree with my last one, but I don't care. If I did, I wouldn't be on CR now would I? So this movie. It's everything an action movie should be. Light on plot, heavy on the guns. It's like the writer said "What if we do THIS?" and anyone who said "No, that's over the top" was immediately fired.... from a canon... into orbit... It's so over the top it's just a great ride from beginning to end. Soundtrack rocks too. And you'll NEVER look at a carrot the same way again.
  17. Hmm, definately some different tastes in movies here. No biggie, I thought they were great..
  18. I don't drink, smoke, or do drugs. Guess I'm boring.
  19. This one impressed me actually. SPOILERS, highlight to see. --- Throughout the movie I thought Amanda was getting away with breaking the rules to the game. It kind of upset me because I liked the whole game concept and thought they were turnign Saw into a run of the mill slasher flick. But he knew and was testing her. I like it when loose ends like this are tied up.---
  20. Ok, another movie(s) that I put off. I'm not a horror fan, so I didn't immediately jump on Saw. But what I saw in the previews intrigued me a bit. When a friend brought the movies up in conversation, I remarked that it looked like a mouse maze type movie and he agreed, so I decided to finally check them out. I picked up Saw 1 last night and watched it. It was really good. I spent the movie trying to figure out how they could possibly get out of the situation. Today, I picked up, and watched, 2-4. Very good. The whole series is very well thought out. Every time I thought there was a loose end, it was tied up. I'm very impressed with the backstory and forethought. 4 was a real trip. The ending threw me for a loop and I had to watch the beginning again, which completely surprised me anew.. Can't wait for Saw 5. I can't think of many movies franchises where I'd want to see the FIFTH movie.
  21. Divinyls - I touch myself The Hamster Dance Lords of Acid - I sit on Acid Unchained Melody There's a few that'll confuse people or drive them insane.
  22. In my abortive attempt at college in '93, I was in a Computer Science major. Of the entire MAJOR, only 5 of us had even used a computer before. No kidding, a mandatory class was "Intro to Computers." First lab day: Professor: "This is the DOS prompt. Go ahead and type anything. You can't hurt the computer." Me: "Are you sure?" Prof: "Of course. Go ahead." Me: "Are you SURE?" Prof: "Yes, I'm sure." Me: "Third and last chance. Are you SURE?" Prof: "Yes." Me: C:\> format c: 1% 2% 3% Prof: "Oh jeeze..." I'm so done with fixing other people's computers..
  23. The new caddy styling makes the cars look like they arne't wide enough, or ar too tall.
