  1. Just for the record WRX = Turbocharged Impreza. No such thing as a N/A WRX. But I do believe that the N/A Impreza exhaust routing doesn't make for a good "boxer rumble".
  2. Boxer rumble FTW. I'm going to get shot for this, but: Air cooled Porsches. They just sound so dry..
  3. Wait.. they HAVE crash safety standards??
  4. Well, I can see this for a few reasons. First, Toyota owns a good portion of Subaru now. Second, subaru and Toyota are already sharing production facilities. One being the plant in Indiana, which makes the Legacy, Outback, Tribeca, and Camry, and it's possible this car is based on the Legacy platform. The big reason why I can see this is the shape of the car. There's very little hood length. For a RWD car you want a longitudinal drivetrain, not transverse. An H4 is a considerably shorter engine in that arrangement than an I4 would be. But whatever the engine, if Toyota delivers a 2500lb RWD car for around 17K it'll fill an empty niche and probably sell really well, *especially* if they put a white AE86 in the commercials. There's been articles about a small RWD Subaru sports car, other articles about the Subaru/Toyota joint car, and articles about Toyota working on an AE86 sucessor. There's *something* coming in the next couple years from Toybaru. Whatever it is, I think it'll be worth a close look.
  5. Interesting.. THough the specs in the pictures above do say 120ps which is 119hp. So it's probably an upgraded version of that engine. As for Subaru, I'm sorry you're having issues. But overall, Subarus are very reliable. And frankly, I'd love to see a Subaru engine under that hood, if for the simple reason that it'd be easier to swap in a larger displacement turbocharged engine. EDIT: Oops, 120ps. Also of note, according to that flyer it's 1.5L also
  6. This ACTUALLY happened. I forget what school it was, but they had a bunch of servers. One server that had been running for years needed a physical reset. So they went to the server room to bounce the power. Well, they couldn't find it. The box was on the network, but they could not find it at all. After tracing the network wires they discovered that it had been accidentally walled-in during a renovation something like 4 years before.
  7. Impressive.. The belt tensioner raised my eyebrows. I didn't realize serpentine belts had that much give in them. And check out the crankcase breather.. Looked like another exhaust pipe for a bit there.
  8. I get zapped when I get out of my car in the winter.. What suprised me is that the metalisized tint on my windows will take the zap also. But man was she lazy. Didn't pull up far enough so she wouldn't have to walk 2 feet to the pump, then has to sit down while filling.. Good thing she doesn't live in MA. Stations have to remove the catches from the handles so you have to stand there and pump. She'd probably have died against the side of her SUV from the strain.
  9. Exact same failure every time. THe A-pillar folds and the floor under the driver's seat fails right after. Maybe this is how they plan to take care of their overpopulation problem?
  10. Considering some of the vids that have been posted here, I misread the thread title as "Horse Drafting" and though I'd see a video of a guy getting a faceful of horsesh!t. But I read Mitch's post and realized it was safe to click the link.
  11. My top 3 are: Camaro GT-R ZR1 Of the three it's hard to decide. If I didn't have to worry about cost, I'd go with the top-end GT-R. Lots of power, less weight (than the base model), and an AWD system. But if cost matters, then the Camaro. It's a sharp looking car and it will be passable as a DD. I pretty sure the engine is from Subaru. Should make for a good low center of gravity and better weight distribution than you'd expect in a car like that. If we see it here, I'd be very interested in it. Maybe a few years down the road when there's a used market, it might be worth picking one up as a track toy. If Toyota hits the pricing goal I heard of <$20,000, I wouldn't be suprised if a Spec class is started for them. EDIT: Found the article I read. http://www.mobilemag.com/content/100/354/C13437/ It's a 1.5L H4 and it is using a chopped Legacy chassis. AWD conversions shouldn't be difficult.
  12. That's one serious headgasket. What's killing me is that I'm already stockpiling parts for the spring... They're sitting in my living room... staring at me.. begging me to put them on the car.. "Psst.. Install usssss..." "No. Wait for the spring." "C'mon.. Just the sway bars?" "Shut up!" And I was under the car the other day and I was just looking at how easy it'd be to swap in the rear sway....
  13. How long until someone makes a Charger Daytona or Superbird body kit?
  14. I think I saw Fidel Castro at one point..

Half a bag of dimes.. You can grip it better for use as a weapon.
  16. The camo one is a base model droptop.. The concept is just that. You can see enough with the camo to compare it with the one below and there's very little similarity. That concept at the bottom was just a design exercise.
  17. Strange, I thought I had read that it would be Auto only.
  18. Wow, talk about a closed deck. Makes my engine look like swiss cheese. FOr me, ths winter will be bushings.. lots and lots of bushings: Trailing arm bushings front and rear Diff mount bushings Outrigger bushings Transmission cradle bushings Transmission mount Engine mounts And since I can't find GroupN bushings for the front, some bracing. Now ask me what I plan for the Spring!
  19. First car was an '87 Nissan Pulsar NX. Second was an '87 Nissan Pulsar NX SE. Those were fun cars. They had T-tops and you could pull the hatch off the back and have a completely open car. My only regret was that they were FWD.
  20. Got my tickets. ..Spectator Tickets. If any of you end up racing and make it to the money rounds, have some balls and go all-in. The show is *PINKS*, where the loser leaves with nothing. Put up the whole $1K and don't wuss out! None of this $500 shit.
  21. Are you going to either of the COS meets this Weekend? If so, I'll hand you some money so PayPal doesn't take a bite.
  22. Only when they do it right. Otherwise you get a cup of hot milk with a dash of chocolate in it.. Not worth the risk.
  23. Ever see the snow tires rally cars use? Makes the tires an econo box comes with look like F1 racing slicks. Go skinnier and run regular pressure. Blizzaks are good, LM25s are a great choice. I just put on a set of Dunlop WinterSport 3Ds. I drove through PA yesterday and the highway was sometimes covered in snow. I'm very impressed with these tires.
