You guys are no help. The TSW Nurburgring is as much of a mesh as I want. Any more and it'll be too much of a PITA to wash. Not to mention look heavy. So you think I should go black on black with this car?
-
I think I'll narrow it down to the TSW Nurburgrin RF in Gunmetal and the Enkei PF01 in black. Unless someone comes up with a set of rims that are gunmetal in tone/darkness and readily available, I think I'll start deciding.
-
Still haven't. When I had the STI, I saw the TE37s and immediately chose them. The WRX? Team Dynamics Pro Rally 1 rims, no question. Even with the spec.B I chose rims in a day. This car? I fail.

So, a couple days and 130 miles of living with this car so far. It gets better and better the more in sync I get with it. You really need to be involved with the engine, it's RPMs, and your gears to really make it sing. But when you do, it is a rather torquey-feeling engine. The big problem I'm finding is that , coming from a turbo car, I unconciously keep it in the 3.5K-4.5K range when accelerating. That's the sweet spot for a turbo EJ, but it's the precise dead spot for the FA20. If I keep myself out of the valley, the car wants to leap ahead and just GO! Splitting the Tach into two distinct rev ranges (idle-3500 and 5000-redline) is necessary. And it's something I'm slowly learning.

There's almost nothing the same from that era of F1 to the current one. Also, there's a ton in the sidepods you don't see. But it's a great way to illustrate the packaging and planning needed to build one of those cars.

Should be fun. But you'll have to drive on a circuit that's in GT6. Not many out this way. :yuno:Mid-Ohio in games?
-
:lolguy: Yeah, I work right next door. I'm surprised you haven't seen it parked outside the last few days.

Actually, no. It's exceeding my expectations for the most part. As I've said before, it could use more power, but I don't think it NEEDS it. The results of letting my inner ricer out: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8165/7310115056_dc7ebe99a8_c.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7233/7310130374_2f322d0aee_c.jpg

*shrug* Seems to be pretty peppy to me. Of course, I'm not expecting a surge of power from a turbo. Doesn't matter. I knew what to expect and it meets my wants/needs. Never really wanted a Corvette all that much, personally. EDIT: Updated my title for all the haters.

Not at all. You're welcome to watch all the news you want. That was a statement of opinion. At no point did I tell you not to watch it. Though, as indicated in my previous post, I'm not sure why you would want to.
-
Yeah. That's exactly what I want in a SC for this car. The boxer engine, new accessory layout, and low engine placement makes it a perfect application for that type of SC. A prototype for the Impreza that never was produced: http://www.csl.mtu.edu/~jmcarder/subaru/sptsc.jpg Told ya you knew where it was. Did you see it pre- or post-ricing? I let my inner ricer out to play a little today. Pics soon.

The Miata beat the Mustang because of Hype also?
-
Looks like the Miata beat it too. Being the fastest wasn't the only criteria for being the best bang for the buck. But if that's what you want, then get the Mustang. But did you read the driver's comments? That Mustang may be faster around the course, but it certainly wasn't the best driver's car. It's a bit of a boat.
-
Fuck the News. As above, it's all biased. It's all shock and awe journalism. It's all crap. Why bother watching it in the first place? "The News" is the new religion for people who want to be told what to think.
-
See that jiggle in the video? That's the bus rolling over that associate producer's body. "Fair and Balanced" is the same as "Fancy Ketchup". If you have to say it, then it isn't true.

There are two in production in Japan right now. I'm sure it'll be done here eventually.

6'4" that's a lot of torso height. You should fit.

HKS has a supercharger kit nearly finished. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=7720&stc=1&d=1338280441 TRD has announced a supercharger as well. I can see a Turbo being done without too much trouble. But again, I don't think a turbo is a good match for this car.
-
LOL. Oh, if I wanted to go FI and had the money I'd let a local shop at it. But for stuff like intake and exhaust a kit might be more cost effective. I might be convinced to lat a local shop make an axle-back. But I worry about the sound. It's not exactly easy to make a 4 cyl sound good.
-
Are you the one that ordered the second black one from Byers on Billingsley?
-
No turbo for this car. I don't think it's possible to get the transitional response this chassis wants without anti-lag. Supercharging is the choice, IMO. But I don't want to add FI to this car. At least not just yet. In a few years when the loan is paid down I'll see what Toyobaru have done with this platform. If it looks good, I'll trade up. If not, maybe I'll build up the engine. We'll see. It's coming.. Patience. You know where it's parked now. Thanks. I love black cars. Even if they're a pain to maintain, when they're clean they are beautiful.

Well, finally got to drive the car off the lot around 6:45. I had company waiting for me at home so I didn't get to take all the pictures I wanted. Those will come. But here are a couple I took at the dealership. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7233/7298877162_3c687a8cf4_c.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7224/7298878680_2798d7477f_c.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7083/7298875534_290ffc9f61_c.jpg So, initial impressions: Fantastic. It's unbelievable how well sorted the suspension is for it being a stock car under 30K. It feels like the car is already modded. The low CG means there's barely any body roll, which is surprising considering how soft the springs and sways are. Let's see if I can organize this. Steering: A lot heavier than I thought it was going to be considering all the "great, but" reviews regarding the electric steering. I really like the feel. Shifter: Very nice and precise. The position is good, but the pivot is a LOT higher than in my other Subarus. It will take some getting used to. Gear engagement is positive. But I need to get used to the new gears and clutch to smooth my shifts out. Clutch: My biggest disappointment. A lot of reviewers like it, which makes me think I must be used to very heavy clutches. The BRZ's clutch is VERY light. When I first stepped on it, the clutch reminded me of the one in my old corolla when the slave was busted. But other than the feel, it's a good clutch. Engagement is mid-high and I adapted to it pretty well for the driving I did today. Visibility: Excellent out the front and sides. Rear is pretty good. But the sail panels are a bit thick. Looking out the passenger side is good. But looking back over my left shoulder is blocked. I'll need to change my lane-change habits with this car. Seat: Very supportive. However it's just a touch tight for my fatness. But hey, more incentive to lose some weight. The belt rests against the side of my neck which is mildly annoying. There's a loop on the seat's shoulder, but I'm too big to leave the belt in there. Hopefully the people experimenting with hard seatbelt guides will find oen that works. Radio: Good, but needs a lot of fiddling. The Bluetooth is good and integrated very easily with my Thunderbolt. The hardest part was finding the Bluetooth device search on my phone. There is a 12V port in the glovebox. So I can connect my phone to a charger and stuff it in the glovebox and let it connect to the stereo via Bluetooth. GPS: I didn't get to play with this much, but looks a LOT better than the sorry excuse in the spec.B. I'll mess with it more to see if it is at least as good as my old Garmin. Back Seats: Yeah... Wow.. Small.. This will be interesting trying to get a friend back there with another who's as big as me in the front seat. Power: The thing you've all been waiting for. I haven't been able to hammer on it due to break in (inb4 Jones saying "Drive it like you stole it"). But I did do a short run through the gears. Since I'm used to turbo cars, I miss the rising tide of torque, so it doesn't feel as aggressive. But we'll see how it is in daily driving. And once I've got it broken in some more I'll do some playing in the upper RPM range. I can't wait to take this to an AutoX. I've already inadvertently engaged the stability control three times.
