  2. Man.. It seems every dealership has received their BRZ except Byers Subaru. Still waiting.....
  3. If only it had rained half way through...
  4. If you want, 18K will get you my 07 spec.B.
  5. For a non-turbo, just check the headgaskets for leakage.
  6. So this is "Housing and Lending Bubble: China Edition"
  7. Fake! Noone jumps out of the way of an RC car! People just stand there stupidly and get hit in the ankle.:lolguy:
  8. Anyone who pays a dealership mark up deserves to. At least that dealership is up front about it. There's a Blacklist thread on FT86Club of dealerships that try to slip in a markup after someone's put a deposit down and other bad behavior. Apparently Pure-Price isn't any help either. Pure-Price just means you pay what's on the sticker. The Scion dealership can do what this one did and apply an add-on sticker to charge whatever they want. The good news is that there are PLENTY of dealerships selling these for MSRP. Only the lazy and stupid are going to pay those markups.
  9. Won't make it this week. Got a RallyX event Sat. Just looked at the pre-regs.. THere will be a Miata, FB RX-7, MR2, a VW buggy, and even a CR-Z! There are going to be more RWD cars than FWD cars. Wow.
  10. Well, the first talk was "sub $20,000" which was based on the Yen 4 years ago. 18K would put the BRZ/FR-S at THOUSANDS below it's competition. That's not going to happen. The world changes.
  11. I did not say they should stop with speed traps. And I'm not saying "go get the real criminals". What I am saying is that if the police were more visible at reducing the daily annoyances of driving, public opinion would rise and acceptance of things like speed traps would be more forthcoming. I think part of the issue is that people don't perceive cops as being any benefit to their daily lives, and are only a detriment. It's a public image issue.
  12. I was never much of a beach person. But I do miss the ocean now and then.
  13. Nice! The second pic makes me kinda homesick for the coast.
  14. I think a good portion of the frustration also comes from the perception that cops *only* ticket for speeding. As drivers we see other people engaging in unsafe and inconsiderate behavior at legal speeds and there never seems to be any action taken by the police. Left-lane hogging, driving slow/erraticaly while on the phone, headlights off in low visibility conditions, etc. Granted, it's possible the police are doing something about this also, but the *perception* is that they aren't. I believe that if the police were to do more to target the people who frustrate the rest of us (especially left lane hogs), their public image would improve greatly. Just look at the youtube vid of the officer pulling someone from the left to the far right lane and how it went viral with unanimous cheers from the viewers. That's very good PR. I think if the police had a better reputation with the public, stuff like speedtraps would be more accepted.
  15. I'm hesitant to go back to Quality because the last car I took there came out smelling like cigarettes. I'll likely take the BRZ to Automotive Appearance Pros. They've done good work for me in the past and also do Clear Bras.
  16. Except he already has won, and Vettel's in the lead for the championship and RBR is in the lead for the constructor's championship. :fuckyeah: But it can certainly go in any direction at this point. And Kimi at the top of the podium would put everything into confusion. Has he won at Monaco yet?
  17. I don't know what the current prices are like. BUt for monitors I prefer Viewsonic and Samsung. Sony is good too but tend to cost more than equivalents from the other two.
  18. Actually, they did hit the price they announced, believe it or not. You can thank inflation and global market forces for our prices. Remember, these are Japanese companies. Their original announcement was to be sub 2M Yen. The base model GT-86 is 1.9M Yen. Unfortunately for us, we've seen a lot of inflation in the last 4-6 years, and the Yen has become very strong against the dollar recently as well. The thing is, when you look at the closest competitors (nicely listed by the Motor Trend article above plus the Mini) the price of the FR-S, BRZ Premium, and BRZ Limited span the average prices of the group. Their US pricing is spot on. Plus, it's cheaper to buy one here in the US than it would be in Japan or anywhere else in the world. EDIT: to add more perspective to this, if you read the MT article above, apparently the average purchased US car price is $31K now.
  19. For those crying "MOAR POWAHH!!" you'll like this: http://www.speedhunters.com/2012/05/fredric-aasbo-announcing-the-2jz-speedhunters-toyota-86-x/ A 2JZ will get crammed under the hood of a GT-86 (FR-S). They're going to start with a 700hp powertrain and will eventually put in a 3.4L stroker. (1K HP maybe?)
  20. Motor Trend's 6 best bang for the buck cars under 28K. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6776 There are .pdf scans in the thread.
  21. Yeah, after further discussion with the guy I thought was #2 on the list at Byers Mazda Subaru, it turns out he's been talking about Byers Imports all this time. :fuuuu: Still, mine should be showing up any time now.
  22. Put all the BPs and KKK in one big room and close the doors. Problem solved?
  23. Yeah, that would mean 6 different winners and 6 different constructors winning each of the 6 races. Noone has a clue what is going on with the points this year. I love it. But I'm still a Vettel/RBR fan.
  24. Some day, when I hit the lottery, I'm going to Monaco for a F1 weekend. It may not be the best track for actual racing, but it's a legendary event. I wonder if they can go 6 for 6 for winners/constructors. That would be hilarious. Lotus has a chance to pull it off.
