  1. I would love Wedssport TC105Ns in gunmetal. But I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with powdercoating them. Otherwise I'd have to wait until September to get them. Oh.. btw.. The car is fantastic. more to come.
  2. PM replied to.. Is it 5 yet?
  3. So just got of the phone with Automotive Appearance Pros. No Clear Bra templates for the BRZ yet. Unfortunately, their hours are testing my loyalty. I either have to get the day off or leave the car with them and organize a ride to/from which is always a PITA.
  4. Wow, ouch. Well I'm thinking of siccing you on the BRZ to start it off right. And the STI as well as it's been a while since it's had some professional TLC.
  5. Down payment check is in hand. Just have to wait until I leave work.... ... Is it 5 yet?
  6. Yes. This is replacing my spec.B as my DD.
  7. No kidding. I probably won't go FI with this car. When I have it paid down in a few years, I'll see what the current models are like. By that time there will likely be FI cars from the factory. If they look good, I'll go back to stock and trade up.
  8. Here's the Alleggeritas on a car in roughly the same size. http://www.liam27.com/audi/S3-OZ-Alleggerita-01.jpg Just not sure..... I would like to. But because this is not just a brand new model, but a new platform and engine, go-fast parts are nigh non-existent. So look-fast parts are first. I'm not sure how much power can be gained from this engine, however. I think if an intake/head-back exhaust/tune nets me 30hp I'll be pleasantly surprised.
  9. I told them not to do anything special, just clean it up. You're still doing your detailing gig, right?
  10. 4700lbs that's.. http://www.forkparty.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Opposites-Attract-Fat-Chick.jpg
  11. But.. But.. A TANK uses them! :lolguy: I know, I don't have the greatest opinion of TSW rims either, but their new rotary forged rims are pretty good. I also really like their look. This is why I can't make up my mind. My usual opinionated streak has deserted me in my time of need.
  12. I don't like silver wheels on a black car. They're too distracting. I like wheels that look a part of the car rather than standing out. So if I don't do black, I want to do a gunmetal. Silver is fine on lighter cars, but they just seem to scream "Look at me!" when on a black car. Even more-so with chrome.
  13. No, but they're the ones I've narrowed it down to. They have to be sub 18lbs, no chrome lips, not a light silver, and meet a subjective appearance standard (I gotta like how they look). They also should be readily available. I don't want to wait 4 months for my rims. Last time I did that, it turned into 8 months. The TSWs are available through Discount Tire. But I haven't been able to swing by one to see how long they'll take. The others are in stock at Tire Rack and I know I can have them and the tires I want mounted/balanced in just a couple days.
  14. These are actually WORK wheels, but they look much the same. They are also 18s. I'm going with 17s for better tire choices. http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/s720x720/292134_298129036925601_247419668663205_705611_28633073_n.jpg I'm still not sure if I want to do another black on black car. Rotas tend to be too heavy for my criteria. All of those are at 20+lbs. If I keep my rims at 18lbs or less I can keep the weight gain at each corner to only 1lb max. Oh, and I don't like polished lips on cars built after the 70s.
  15. No problem. I've been kind of stressed out because it seemed I got skipped on the deliveries. But when I got the call I danced a jig. :lolguy: Great rims, but big bucks. The expensive rims are on the STI. The Alleggeritas are still sub 400 but that's about as high as I want to go. I might make an exception for a set of Wedssports but to get them in a color other than silver, it's a 4-5mo wait.
  16. Call first. A lot of dealerships have computer systems that automatically post cars to those sites the moment they get a VIN. But they don't always have the car on the lot. Possibly. But I'm not sure how to find them. I just reposted that link from another FR-S thread in the Parking Lot.
  17. Here's a test drive event: http://frscolumbus.eventbrite.com/ Lots of CR people are going.
  18. OK, how about some opinions on wheels? I keep bouncing around. Stock rim/tire combo is 41lbs. The tires I want (235/40-17 Yoko AD08s, or Dunlop Z1*) are 24lbs. All of these rims are 17x8. TSW Nurburgring in matte Gunmetal: http://www.tsw.com/img/nurburgring_gunmetal_reg_normal_white.jpg Pros: Favorite looks of my choices. Cons: Heaviest of my choices at 17.8lbs and I can't confirm availability. O.Z. Ultraleggera in Matte Graphite Silver: http://www.tirerack.com/images/wheels/oz/swap/oz_ultraleggera_mgs_ci3_l.jpg Pros: Not as heavy as the TSW at 17.2 lbs, looks good, in stock. Cons: Flat face. O.Z. Alleggerita HLT in Matte Graphite Silver: http://www.tirerack.com/images/wheels/oz/swap/oz_allerghlt_mgs_ci3_l.jpg Pros: Lightest by far at 15.8 lbs, in stock. Cons: Really flat face, boring looks, most expensive of the list. Enkei Racing PF01 in Black: http://www.tirerack.com/images/wheels/enkei_racing/swap/enkeir_pf01_b_ci3_l.jpg Pros: 17.3lbs, Looks good, in stock. Cons: Not sure I want to do another black on black car.
  19. Not a whole lot, no. Scion has their Pure Price thing which means you pay sticker and no haggling at all. Subaru has made lots of noise about the BRZ being limited in production, so the dealerships are tough. The best most can negotiate is MSRP. Just don't pay over MSRP. The downside to the BRZ is that dealership allocations for this year are already set. So unless you can find a dealership that doesn't have any orders, or had someone back out, you may end up waiting for a while to take delivery. Best to do a lot of phonework if you want a BRZ. The FR-S will be easier to get as there will 2 to three times as many in the US this year than the BRZ.
  20. For me it came down to options. I was originally thinking I'd get the FR-S since it had the fewest options and therefore lightest weight. But then I realized that if this was going to be my DD, I wasn't going to be racing it for points so the few extra pounds didn't matter, and the extra luxuries would be really nice to have. So BRZ Limited it was.
  21. Have you seen the Modelista lip? That plus the TRD sides and rear might make me want to swap bumpers.. http://toyota.jp/customize/86/modellista/image/main2.jpg http://toyota.jp/customize/86/modellista/image/main3.jpg As for sound, I'm trying to keep my choices to systems that have known weights. At the moment, Nameless Performance is at the top of my list. But they don't have a video of it under load yet. The HKS Spec-L exhaust is 2nd on my list. Mostly because it's freakin' expensive. $1300! There's one in Japan from a company called Auto Factory that sounds AMAZING. But it'd easily be twice the price than the HKS to get it shipped here.
  22. Thank you everyone. Chad is no longer at Byers. I don't know what happened, but Bob Miller is taking over his clients. I just found out today. The major differences are: FR-S does not have an option for HIDs, Auto HVAC, Keyless Entry/Start, Heated Seats (stuff the BRZ Limited gets.) It has a different front bumper. Mechanically it's identical except for the springs. It's unclear, but either the front springs are softer than the BRZ's or the rears are stiffer. Only the BRZ springs have been rate-tested (186/186) so far. There's some rumor that the struts/shocks are tuned differently for the springs, but that hasn't been confirmed. Again, only the BRZ's dampers have been put on a shock dyno. It does. But not for long. It's about driving feel. The simplest way to put it is to sum up a couple reviews which have said it has the handling and driving feel of a Porsche Cayman for half the price. I'm looking forward to it as a back-to-basics fun to romp sports car. My current daily lacks that and I want it back. The SUBARU is coming off and I'm going to move the BRZ to the lower right of the trunk lid. I prefer it there, like the FR-S. And it will mean I can just switch to the TRD duckbill spoiler. http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2012/03/trd-toyota-gt-86-628.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7201/6874312990_8a17c48bdc_b.jpg Yes. 2723 with half tank. http://www.subarubrzforum.com/9-subaru-brz-general-discussion-forum/875-brz-weighed-today-dealership-pics.html But lighter, smaller, better handling. And slower in a straight line. Here's a Motor Trend article that includes the GC and has Randy Pobst taking the cars for a lap around a circuit. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6776 All are on the list to do. The wheels will be soon. Drop is mid june (waiting for the springs to be produced). Tint/Clear bra will be as soon as I can get it to Automotive Appearance Pros. The 5:AD body kit will be available at Scion dealership to be installed before delivery, or separately.
  23. A couple teaser photos. It hasn't been PDI'd or cleaned yet. But even dirty, it looked SO good in black! If all goes well, I'll be driving it home tomorrow. :fuckyeah: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8023/7289582184_a8969d39f5_c.jpg The white thing on the bumper is a note taped in place that says DO NOT DRILL! http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7089/7289577106_d883d35e57_c.jpg I'm not sure I'm going to be able to sleep tonight. It felt so good to sit in. The clutch is a bit light for my taste, but we'll see what it's like once broken in.
