Check out Rubbermaid action packers too. Surprisingly sturdy but way cheaper than full on gasketed and sealed cases. I keep my kayaking gear in one in the garage. Have a good lid/lip system to keep stuff dry in the back of a pickup or an open trailer.
-
I have several Nanuk cases and have been happy with them. One for a pistol and one for camera gear.

From what I read the fly-over was an already scheduled training mission, route was just diverted over hospitals for funsies.

I was on a construction project all morning today at a city facility. There were 8 or 10 contractors onsite and I was the only one wearing a mask (not N95 just a gaiter I wear fishing rolled up to double layer) so not super confident that people will do what is asked... even when mandated. My opinions aside, my employer requires a mask unless isolated to your own office space or a closed room at a customer site. Ive not questioned anyone directly on it, but I've heard people quoting the mantra of "I have a health condition that does not allow me to wear a mask, HIPPA protects me from having to disclose my specific condition". Not saying there aren't a good chunk of folks for which this truly applies, but so far I've only heard assholes reciting it with a smirk on their face. Should work great for everyone.

My mom's Pixel XL just took a dump and I got her a 3A XL for Xmas as a replacement. She's been real happy with it. If you're not super picky on having the absolute flagship it would be an easy transition from your failing original XL. Take a look at the comparisons between the 3A XL vs 3XL, they're not all that drastic. The savings over a 4 XL is gigantic.

I bought this a couple weeks ago for just under $300 on sale. Was delivered in less than 24 hrs surprisingly and I've been real happy with it: WorkPro 12000 https://www.officedepot.com/a/products/9702132/WorkPro-12000-MeshFabric-Managerial-Mid-Back/ I've never understood the gaming/racing style office chairs myself. My needs for lateral G support and bolstering in my office chair are typically pretty limited .

We've had a Weber Spirit for 3 to 4 years and its been solid. It's a lower end wWeber I believe.

I keep hearing of people trying to keep cutting hair out of their houses, which obviously sounds like a terrible idea. Mother in law just last night asked my wife if she thought it was a bad idea to go to her hair stylists' house. She was facetiming and her mom said "Lady who cuts my hair called and asked if I wanted to schedule an appointment at her house. She said she's wiping everything down and has essential oil diffusers going everywhere, but do you think it's a bad idea?". I had to leave the room, good GAWD people.

Agreed mostly on direct "responsibility" here, dummies gonna dumb and the fact is this Phoenix dude may well have been taken out soon enough by forgetting to breathe or something similarly hazardous. However, the lesson here is that talking out of his ass has consequences, and Donnie should probably not even hint around the edges of providing medical advice in an effort to grasp at some straws of positivity.
-
Yo dog. You seem to be confused and in need of an explanation here, not me. Yer boi Donnie said chloroquine (identified by him as a drug used to treat malaria) showed great potential for treating the 'ol rona. A couple regular rocket surgeons in Phoenix decided that the chemical they had on hand to treat their fish tank would be, ya know, close enough. It was actually chloroquine phosphate, they decided to enjoy a couple scoops over their cheerios which killed the guy and put the wife in the hospital. Thems the facts, as I recall. Here's some mainstreamy media type stuff for you to ignore: https://www.fda.gov/animal-veterinary/product-safety-information/fda-letter-stakeholders-do-not-use-chloroquine-phosphate-intended-fish-treatment-covid-19-humans https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2020/03/24/820512107/man-dies-woman-hospitalized-after-taking-form-of-chloroquine-to-prevent-covid-19
-
Let's not forget though, I don't recall him specifically telling anyone to ingest the same hydroxychloroquine used to treat bacterial infections in aquarium fish, but there's at least one dude dead because he did exactly that. There's a track record here, and its safe to say that those who respect the president's commentary and take what he says at face value stretch it on their own.
-
First of all, there are people that stupid, guaranteed. I think overall you're missing the point though. Answer a couple of these, or at least think on them for a minute, perhaps imagine the final jeopardy music playing in the background. When was the last time: - A president offered medical advice (let's not forget this isn't the first time Donnie has this month). - A president has been so completely in the dark and ill-prepared for national press conference that he first poses a question to medical staff live on tv ("Does UV light kill it"?) The conversation SHOULD ABSOLUTELY be about the crazy nonsense the president says, rather than about how stupid people must be to believe the stupid things the president says.

What are you watching to get through the quarantine?

I've been doing a lot of woodwork in my furlough time off, converting shitty hollow flat doors to solid 6 panel, replacing all of our trim and baseboard with oak stained dark and poly'd. In my downtime between coats and sanding I've found a couple good gear-head YouTube channels: Vice Grip Garage is quickly becoming a favorite. Dude makes me lol consistently. His brand of humor reminds of Will Ferrell in his prime but with solid mechanical knowledge. Deboss Garage is another good one, with a lot of variety and decent production value. WatchWesWork isn't bad either. The guys production value isn't great but I enjoy his troubleshooting approach a lot of times and the fact that he doesn't try too hard or take himself too serious. Just a regular dude running his shop, working on whatever customers drop off. Aside from that my buddy gave us access to his plex server, which he keeps curated with new releases within days of release. I've been pretty impressed that it streams perfectly since he has gigabit internet service at his house. That and motor trend on demand always has something new when I have couch time. -
Did our taxes in early February and haven't yet been stimulated. Did get a little refund actually on federal taxes and received that within 2 weeks of filing. Apples to orangutans I guess but thats something.
-
I've not received a stimulus check/deposit, and I am expecting to. I am this week on the 2nd week of my 2-weeks of mandated unpaid furlough by my employer. I never had to use the unemployment system before, but I filed a claim for the 1st week on a Monday and received a direct deposit the Thursday of that same week. I did the same this past Monday and received correspondence that I should receive a payment most likely tomorrow. The site is clunky and feels a lot like e-filing your taxes, but the system has worked fine for me. If there are people forced to use the phone hotline to file a claim I imagine that's painful at best.

These are cool for what they are, but nothing crazy. My first car was 5 speed non-SVT Contour, so I did a lot of reading on the SVT stuff but never did drive one. Back in the day the way to go was the 3.0/SVT hybrid motor. Basically a run of the mill 3.0 Taurus "vulcan" block from a donor to use the SVT 2.5 heads and top end as I recall. When I sold mine somebody had figured out how to convert it to coil on plug ignition also, which was neat.

I've not used it yet, but I bought this guy several weeks ago: https://www.amazon.com/Smiths-Arkansas-TRI-HONE-Sharpening-Stones/dp/B00062BIT4/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=smiths+knife+sharpening+stone&qid=1587438655&sr=8-2

FYI - I understand Ace Hardware is doing free delivery for their rewards members. I guess my dad has had a truckload of lumber, topsoil, random fasteners and stuff all delivered to his house for free. For at least the local store here, they're doing curbside service only otherwise.

No sir, I should have quoted nurkvinny's response. It's pages back now, but he indicated that common sense suggested people would kill themselves if their careers are largely impacted by the current situation... Just not sure I agree.
-
My common sense doesn't tell me that if my career takes a hard right into the ditch because of unforeseen circumstances I kill myself. If that's common sense to everybody else thats a shame.
-
You have anything to support this prediction of suicides, or is this your hypothesis? As I recall you're around my age and work in an industry being hit pretty hard, so if this stems from your own personal feelings and concerns don't let that get away from you. Truly, take care bud, and reach out if you need help. This too shall pass. Whole bunch of people before us have gotten through much worse.

Come on man, the obesity point is a super hyper mega stretch. If I'm in the grocery store and I have to wait in line behind a 400 pound woman, I'm not at risk of catching the obesity and suffering its health consequences. Also, it takes a while for obesity to generate health impacts, and for it to impact our health system. It's not 2-3 weeks from contraction as with COVID... Honestly can't believe I've taken the time to spell this out but holy shit. Regardless it doesn't require the public health response, obviously. Regarding the yearly flu, this comparison has been beaten to death so I'm not sure what rock you've been living under to miss it, but here goes. I've seen data showing Flu kills anywhere from 10,000 - 75,000 people in the US every year. Coronovirus as of today has killed 33,000+ people in the US. Those are deaths IN ADDITION TO the yearly flu. COVID isn't "just like" the flu, it's like another more contagious, more severe flu altogether. The difference is that there is effectively no research on COVID-19, and there is no vaccine for it to control the spread like there is the yearly flu. Hopefully that helps clear things up, but holy cow do some reading brodeo.
-
For this comparison to make any damn sense at all (or to be a comparison), I'll need you to provide some data on how contagious obesity is. Tim, the chemo argument is one I continue to hear, and it's a bad one. The numbers aren't comparable, the risks of transmission aren't comparable. It's a poor comparison.

This, exactly this. I'm furloughed for 2 weeks this month. I'm losing paychecks, it's affecting me financially, and I'm ALL FOR the action's taken by our state gov't right now. My wife is a medical professional, she's not furloughed or laid off, but she's in a hospital wearing a mask and goggles all day every day. She is also ALL FOR where we are right now with our gov't's approach. +1 to all of this. Thanks.

As I've said already, perspective matters. From here in Ohio and other locations that have mitigated this reasonably well you hear "open 'er back up fer bidness". From other places that have suffered a lot more and continue to do so, you don't hear any of that. Even from here within Ohio, you don't hear people close to this (paramedics, hospital staff) screaming to open shit back up, only the folks sitting back away from it at home itching to end their annoyance. Also - every state has a medical representative, and I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest they're far better at interpreting data than all of the armchair epidemiologists and statisticians in this thread. I don't hear too many of them suggesting there's much to support alot of the "open back up" suggestion you hear, in Red or Blue states. At what point did we begin disregarding these people's professional opinions to instead fall in line behind the politicians who yell loudest? Crazy times indeed. Also also - The right have for years preached about the value of "a life". Now, in a discussion that largely boils down to how human life is valued in comparison to quantifiable economic loss, I hear a lot of "if some die it's no big deal" type conversations. Anybody want to hazard a guess about what changed?
