How many RWD sports cars made it through winter?
B3NN3TT replied to AndonD454's topic in Passing Lane
The way I see it - front-wheel drive cars weren't really even widely in existence (apart from a few outliers) until around 1980. So for nearly 100 years, people drove rear-wheel drive vehicles year-round. And this was before ABS, before traction control, and on rotten tires with stone-age rubber compounds and zero technology advancement. And they got along fine. If grandma could get around in her 1967 Pontiac Catalina, then I'm sure we'll be OK. -
Blagois does Saabs as well. Riverside drive between Grandview & Arlington. They primarily do German, but that's just because there are so many German cars out there...

A lot of times Apple rushes ahead with the OS software, and older machines kind of get dusted. Even though they still "officially" support the OS, they struggle to run it. I have a 2008 Mac Mini that is kind of hurting just to idle for this very reason. You might install 10.6 on it and see how it takes it. Then if everything is running well, upgrade to the next iteration if you're feeling ambitious. Also, RAM is a HUUUUGE issue. A lot of times a simple RAM increase will solve any problems you are experiencing with slowdowns, etc.

Sold! Thanks everyone.

I saw that car this past summer at a big Ford show in Dearborn. Still looks very clean.

Was looking at a Cooper S; ended up with the SVT Focus instead. Still like those things a lot though. Need pics.

The Sx2 DOHC engines are notoriously bad for being oil burners, which is why when I was looking for a winter beater, I chose this SOHC version. This one uses a LITTLE bit of oil - I change it every 3000-3500 miles, and I usually have to add 1 quart in between changes. Which seems pretty reasonable to me. Thanks!

Still for sale! No problems, no issues, great MPG, great reliability, CHEAP repairs & plentiful parts...

Selling my winter beater. Too many cars for my garage. 2001 Saturn SL1 1.9L SOHC 5-speed manual 151,000+ miles White/Tan Air Con (recently charged) I bought this in late 2011, and have put a little over 10,000 miles on it. It was a little tired from the PO, so I have freshened up A LOT OF THINGS in the past 2 years. I can't stand to drive a car with nagging issues, so I just fix them. NEW PARTS INSTALLED: Tires (Falken Ziex ZE-512 all-season) Struts (KYB Excel-G) Tie rods Front control arms Full 4-wheel alignment Starter Battery Thermostat Coolant temp sensor CV axle Top engine mount Plugs & wires Intake manifold gasket I've done lots of clean-up work on the interior, replacing bad parts with good. New headliner, steam-cleaned mats, back seat and carpet. Replaced front seats with a pair of tan leathers from the Yard (the original seats were too worn and dirty to save). Too many little details to list - there are so many similar cars at Pick & Pull, I'm always finding better pieces to bring home to freshen it up. The PO installed a decent Kenwood MP3/WMA head unit and upgraded all of the stock speakers. Starts and runs perfectly great, SIPS gas (although with my 5-mile commute, it never gets up to full operating temp, so I don't see it so much in my daily situation). It has manual crank windows and door locks - no power here. And it DOES NOT have cruise control. It's about as basic as it gets. Issues? None, really. There is a little mild pitting on the hood and roof from a hailstorm at some point in its lifetime, and one of the back outside door handles is a little sticky. But the paint is pretty solid, and since the fenders and doors are plastic there's no rust or dings. Looking for $2000 firm - mainly because I sunk so much money into the struts and tires so recently. It's got a lot of life left in it, and if it doesn't sell, I'll just keep driving it in the winter - where it excels. Message or reply here. I get notifications. http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n188/bennett9000/Cars/2013-04-09182239_zps683f0b11.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n188/bennett9000/Cars/2013-04-09182259_zps620cf851.jpg

Cool; I have a house full of Roku 2's. Thats the price I pay for begin an early adopter I guess. Hopefully they will roll that out to earlier models.

WOW raises our rates every year, but I've had their service for like 15 years now. We just call and re-up with whatever good new-subscriber package they are advertising. Since we aren't new subscribers, they always charge us an extra $5 a month for it But the service is rock-solid reliable, though. I've never really had any problems with them, apart from the yearly rate-hikes.

I'd love to stop by and check it out; too bad the Bullitt is in storage already. I guess I could always dust off the autocross rig...

11 years later, the Maxima has been replaced.

Just buy it when the lease is up = dealership takes the hit on depreciation, not you, and you know all of the vehicle's history, because it's your own. Looks good. -
Honestly, my SVT did smell smokey after I picked it up as well. I just threw the sunroof open... Haven't noticed any bubbles or weirdness on my windows.
-
I had mine done last week. Maybe your quote was more because you have a 5-door hatch as opposed to mine, which is a 3-door.

They quoted me $169 for basic, and an extra $50 for upgraded film that won't go purple in a couple of years. I got 35% on the doors, and 15% on the back three. http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n188/bennett9000/SVT/nonemoreblack.jpg So that was $219, with lifetime guarantee. Took them about 90 minutes or so. Good guys. I'm taking the Roush there soon. Sorry about the big photo; I just resized it on PhotoBucket, so it will be under control soon...

I just called A2Z, and they got me in next-day. Dropping the SVT off in the morning...

All this nice weather...got all 3 whips washed up.

Same here; and it smells great Love that FC. -
They used TBI on those things. The XR4Ti is a better alternative. At least they used multi-port.
