Last week I came home to a nice suprise of the transmission in my 2000 bonneville taking a crap. Talked to a friend of my dads who is trans guy at a gm dealership and explained the situation, and he's thinking pilot bearing. I guess these like to take other hard parts with it when they go, rebuilding might be to expensive.
Assuming he's right, ill be looking for a used trans. Ill be getting it through some place with a warranty, to make sure its in good working shape. But Ive heard these trans had a lot of issues with the pilot bearing going bad, so I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to help prevent this from happening again? I've heard these had a lot of issues with heat? Don't know if the issues are related though.
