If you want to keep this as cheap as possible and make sure all is good, i can give you my machine shop guys number. He hot tanked, bored the block, put new cam bearings in and had to go over a bunch of other stuff including test fitting everything for me for around 500 bucks.

Before you do anything, have some one start the car while you watch the crank pulley. The last time my went out, i had crank walk and ended up just really needing a thrust bearing. It was knocking, but i still had oil preasure. If you want some help just let me know

So i got a pleasant suprise the other day and found out im making a decent amount more at my second (motor funding) job, and im now shopping around for heads. Im looking at 2 sets but not sure which to go with. both sets have 2.02 intake and 1.60 exaust, but the first set is 190 runner and the other is 210. I was told to go with the first set because they were good 'street' heads, but this is no street motor. Which would you pick and why? This is a 1/4 mile drag car.

they are cool cars, and are quick in stock trim, but its exactly like fuelforthesoul said, they eat trannies if you beat on them to much.

mine has pacesetter headers to a magnaflow catback and it doesnt sound horrible till you hit high rpm.
