  1. It's hilarious and painful to think about basically everyone's thoughts going into that game. By the time game week rolled around the only objective people making arguments for Florida were those who thought they could pull a 2002 OSU vs. Miami. Florida was so disrespected by that point they thought they could use that to at least keep it close and maybe pull off an upset. Instead we get... 41-14.
  2. Josh will enjoy this as he's remained not unjustifiably worried about the Purdue game... http://www.elevenwarriors.com/2013/10/27873/pit-of-despair-ramzy-purdue-boilermakers-ohio-state-buckeyes
  3. SEC wasn't perceived as this massive juggernaut until OSU let them be perceived that way post-2006. So it wouldn't have helped in 2003 or 2006. They were slated to go to the title game ahead of Florida in 2006 already before dropping their 2nd game of the season to UCLA. 2008 it may have helped. And I believe Alabama was undefeated for one of their titles. Edit: Yeah, 2009 when Bama won the title against Texas they were 14-0. Another edit: Pretty crazy, USC AND Michigan were ahead of Florida going into the final week of 2006. All the talk was OSU vs. USC for the title and if for some crazy reason USC lost to UCLA then we'd get a rematch of OSU-Michigan. USC lost before the end of the SEC title game and the second half of that game became the "Gary Danielson lobbying for Florida to be in the title game over Michigan" show.
  4. USC was great against big-time opponents but always dropped a game they shouldn't have. Cal in 2003. UCLA in 2006. Oregon State in 2008. They win those 3 games and they play for 3 more national titles. Funnily enough, 2003 and 2008 would have been against Oklahoma again. A team they absolutely demolished in the 2004 title game. 2006 they would have had the honor of doing to OSU what Florida did. Although maybe if it's Pac 10 "team of the century" USC instead of "on the rise" Florida from the mediocre SEC the OSU players actually try to stay in shape and prepare for the game instead of... well... doing what they did.
  5. Nice try, buddy! I'm not circling something on my monitor! That would ruin it! Also seeing Josh quote my post where I mentioned 1-loss Michigan... definitely meant to mention 1-loss Michigan State. Michigan is awful and deserves their ranking or worse. Michigan State should be well inside the top 20.
  6. I think I mentioned Buffalo this past week. Did not know that about Iowa. Makes what OSU did to them in the 2nd half that much more impressive. This is probably a year where Ferentz takes Iowa to a high-level non-BCS bowl and beats an SEC team and no one pays any attention. http://i.imgur.com/i3JwhBD.gif

Obviously to be expected with its viewers but still... http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h71/Amerifunk/TeamAmericaVomit.gif
  8. The fact that your most hated person in the world, Urban Meyer, hasn't lost yet at OSU is really eating at you isn't it? :gabe:
  9. 3 2-loss SEC teams in the top 15 and 1-loss Michigan just cracking the top 25 for the first week is hilarious. Also... http://i.imgur.com/Dw9X1he.jpg OSU's response... http://i.imgur.com/MV4xz0C.gif
  10. When I got to the part in the article about spelling "itinerary" my brain exploded. I am now deceased and posting from the afterlife.
  11. Didn't read past the title. People who think OSU ran up the score didn't watch the game.
  12. I think he'll be fine if he can do it mentally. Shoulders seem to be the big career-enders lately at OSU. Definitely sucked to hear that during Urban's presser though. Kid has had a rough time.
  13. The "wisemen" that the insider on Scout speaks with think Elliott is the starter next year. And I tend to agree. They think Rod Smith has had his shots and just not taken them. Elliott seems to take advantage of every chance he gets. Obviously a lot can happen between now and there are plenty of reasons to get on the Ezekiel train. Should be an absolute war between the end of this season and the beginning of next season to grab that RB spot. Smith, Elliott, Dunn and Ball were all highly rated coming out of HS and all of them have shown at least a few flashes.
  14. Personal level because it's Purdue or personal level because they feel nationally disrespected? It's insane to think that if it weren't for Kenny Guiton OSU would technically be on a 3-game losing streak against Purdue since the 2010 game "didn't happen."
  15. OSU -31 @ Purdue...lol. Can definitely see a sluggish/sleepwalking kind of performance in this game though. Noon against a clearly inferior opponent coming off the delivery of a nationally televised nighttime beatdown.
  16. I don't think he was running up the score. Hyde was out 6 minutes into the 3rd. Miller and the rest of the 1st team offense were done after the next offensive series where the O lined up with Braxton at WR near the goal line to get Kenny G an easy TD up the middle. Kenny threw 2 passes on the first series of the 4th quarter then every other play was a run by the 4th string RB or 3rd string QB. They could have put up 80 if they wanted to last night. If it wasn't a 4th down try and it wasn't basically right in front of Meyer, I don't think he bothers with the challenge. But he was still "in" the game at that point and challenged without hesitation because he saw it right in front of him. I loved it. I don't want to get too confident but I agree. This offense is balanced and Miller is only getting more and more comfortable running his part of it. On top of his knee finally healing up. The thing I'd worry about most with a game against someone like Oregon or Baylor is OSU shooting themselves in the foot on offense once or twice and the defense not being able to make up for it. I basically guaranteed 40ppg before the season started and thought 45 was a real possibility. Would be very pleased if they could keep it around 45.
  17. I just wonder if he can throw at all. He hasn't even attempted a pass yet. He's definitely athletic for as big as he is. Commentators made a nice point watching him, he looks like Byron Leftwich out there. Now if he has anywhere close to the arm to match... could be interesting. He never gets mentioned as the guy to replace Braxton whenever he leaves though. It's all Barrett. OSU gives PSU their worst beating since the 19th century and LOSES 7 points in the coaches' poll. I almost wonder if O'Brien was mad and dropped OSU. One of the quickest handshakes I've ever seen and he was leaning away from Meyer as much as he could the whole time...lol.
  18. Carlos Hyde is still on pace to be Urban's first 1,000 yard RB. Just needs 410 more yards this season and has at least 5 more games to play. This offense is incredible when it's humming along. Really wanted to see 70 tonight but it seems the older crowd is pleased with matching what PSU did to OSU back in 1994.

  21. So ESPN either had no other good games for September 6th or too many good games for September 20th. I know Florida-Bama is September 20th next year. Probably CBS though. Looks like the final regularly scheduled Michigan-ND game will be September 6th but since it's @ ND that will be an NBC game.
  22. I think OSU as a whole got its due credit for the defense it fielded during the Tressel era. I think where the respect was lacking was for a guy like Jim Heacock. He was never lauded like Will Muschamp, Kirby Smart, John Chavis or so many others were as he fielded a top 5 defense year in and year out. Unfortunately I think so much of that came directly from the fact that he wasn't paid nearly as much as those guys. Assistants under Tressel topped out right around $300-350k a year. Kirby Smart and John Chavis are currently making over $1m a year. According to nevada OSU's checkbook would be wide open for Urban to replace staff this offseason so despite Chavis' hefty price tag, it would definitely be doable. Ohio State is currently 4th in the country in total staff salary. Only $300k behind LSU but still over $1.5m behind Alabama and Texas (they sure aren't getting their money's worth...lol). Something I really enjoyed reading as I just looked up salaries... Urban Meyer is the 2nd youngest coach of the top 10 highest paid coaches in the country. Only Gundy at Okie St. is younger. Urban is 13 years younger than Saban. You kind of start salivating at the thought of having Urban at OSU for another decade and maturing and perfecting his system as Saban has.
  23. According to nevada Urban has upped his involvement in the defense from about 15-20% on a normal week to about 70% this week. So who knows what kind of special sauce we'll get Saturday night.
