It's pretty crazy when you think about when Oregon jumped OSU. They jumped OSU in the meaningless AP poll after week 1 where Oregon beat FCS Nicholls State 66-3 and OSU beat FBS Buffalo 40-20. Sure, the Buffalo game wasn't great and a lot of that was thanks to the Ohio State OL playing their worst game of the last 2 seasons. That's a 50-something to 13 game if the OL plays the way it has for the other 18 games of this 19-game winning streak. And Buffalo's only losses this season have been to, using the coaches' poll since it actually matters, top 5 teams. They are currently on a 5-game winning streak. Then after week 2, Oregon jumped OSU in the coaches' poll. OSU won their week 2 game 42-7 over SDSU, currently on a 3-game win streak of their own, and Oregon won in a tough, tough (/sarcasm) road game @ Virginia, who is currently on a 4-game losing streak and will probably be firing their HC after this season. Which is nice for OSU since Meyer and his staff can hopefully raid their class for 5* safety Quin Blanding. :gabe:

16 teams in the top 25 without a win against a ranked opponent... Oregon (0), Baylor (0), Miami (0), Missouri (0), Texas Tech (0), Clemson (0), Oklahoma (0), Oklahoma State (0), Texas A&M (0), Louisville (0), Fresno State (0), Virginia Tech (0), Nebraska (0), Northern Illinois (0), Michigan (0), and Wisconsin (0). Only Alabama has more than 1 (Virginia Tech, Texas A&M).

As far as the top 5 is concerned, Alabama, FSU and OSU have all beaten currently ranked opponents with FSU's drubbing of now #10 Clemson being the best of the bunch.
-
I saw Miami in your top 5 and was like... WTF no way... then I took a glance at the rankings again and with all the losses, even with Miami's sloppy performance Thursday night... you may be right. Mizzou and Baylor will be right there somewhere as well.
-
I figured the winner of the game would jump ahead of OSU (since Clemson was still behind in the coaches' poll) but yeah, the quality of this beatdown should probably jump FSU ahead of Oregon as well.
-
Was definitely worse. B1G refs are just lame.

If it's in the 2nd half the player is suspended for the 1st half of the next game. Obviously Roby was 1st quarter so he's fine.
-
It was funny because I made the statement to my friend maybe 2 plays before the ejection "It's like OSU is fielding a bunch of overweight ballerinas out there on defense." Then Roby makes the hit (which was shoulder to chest, TE being 5-6" taller than Roby, his head comes down with the hit and contacts Roby's) and I was like... "LOL and now they're going to eject him for hanging up the ballet slippers." Then they actually did. :lolguy:

Bollman wasn't anything special but he was competent. There doesn't seem to be much talent on the offensive side of UM's coaching staff right now.
-
Also worth nothing that former 5* OL and enormous douchebag Kyle Kalis is being replaced by a walk-on tomorrow for Michigan. Love how that decision is working out for him.
-
Love how people jabbed OSU for having a tough game with UCF last season.
-
Yep, just like their sanctions being reduced, they need to get better because the rest of the B1G can't do shit.

And he moved up his announcement and just chose Penn State. Weird that so many different places were feeling OSU today. Due to his selection of Pedo State, we will use Scout and Rivals' rankings in any future discussions. He is a 3-star. :gabe:
-
He's not #1 on Rivals or Scout, just 247. Not sure what 247 has seen that the others haven't but 247 just updated their rankings within the last week or so so he may get a bump on the other sites soon as well.

Things seem to be trending back in OSU's favor for Gesicki. Like I said, I totally forgot he was here for the Wisconsin game and thought he was making his decision fresh off the PSU visit without visiting here. Some strong feelings after being in Happy Valley this past weekend but looks like that may be fading. We'll know tomorrow. Kid is a 3-star on Rivals and Scout but the #1 TE in the country on 247...haha.

Let's relive that TD pass courtesy of my Youtube channel... Fucking ESPNU. Think that may have been the channel's first year and somehow #1 OSU ends up on it. Had to upgrade to the cable package with ESPNU for a month just for that game.
-
Should be good. Thankfully ESPN doesn't do much other than fund these things and sign off on them. Otherwise it would be a hit piece on OSU.
-
Yeah, at any position. I might just not be remembering that well. There were some high impact freshmen on the 2002 national title squad (Mangold, Clarett, Hawk, etc.). But since then I can't really think of anyone THAT important as a freshman. I have to be blanking on someone though.
-
Who is the last freshman to come in and just beast like Bosa has? I really like Adolphus but there was an immediately noticeable difference when Joey went in early in the season.
-
Should have it Monday I believe. I'd bet at least $3.84 on it being noon on BTN.
-
Ehh... I'm pretty sure anyone knowledgeable of Purdue's recent history against OSU didn't think a person expecting a tough game with them last year was crazy. Last year they had 3 wins, 2 against FBS teams, coming into the OSU game. And lost @ undefeated ND by a FG. They are BAD this year. 0 wins against FBS opponents. Only win was by 6 points against now 1-5 FCS Indiana State. The only thing that could keep this game closer than 2 TD's is OSU beating themselves. I'm talking 2009-style with 5+ turnovers combined with a noon start. I think we'll get the noon start on BTN but can't see a sophomore Pryor-esque meltdown like we saw in that game.
-
You are correct! It was Northern Illinois! FG to win with less than 5 seconds left! Your accuracy pleases me and I am untying this noose I had ready in case you were wrong. :gabe:
-
Definitely agree that it is far from the free ride so many are making it out to be. And if any team is a free ride, despite recent history, it will be Purdue. Illinois still has a pulse. Purdue's lone win is a 6-point victory against Indiana St. They played ND tough but every other game has been a blowout. Hopefully Hazell can turn that around.

What I didn't understand was there is no poll with the numbers you mentioned being accurate or, with regards to the 500+ number, possible. In the polls that matter OSU is 75 points behind and 41 points ahead. The 500 number is ridiculous because Alabama and Oregon are 139 or fewer points ahead in the coaches' poll and 309 or fewer points ahead in the Harris. I understand perfectly that a Clemson win would likely result in them jumping or pulling ahead but the numbers made no sense.
-
No idea what poll you're referencing where Clemson has a 90 point gap and the potential to increase it to 500+. Also I forgot Gesicki was here for the Wisconsin game. Thought it was an open and shut case for PSU since he visited there and wasn't going to visit here. I think there's definitely still a chance for OSU. Tweeted about having a nice conversation with Urban last night then this morning he wakes up to some idiot having written "WE ARE" and "PENN STATE" on his car so he tweets saying to just let him make his decision. Go PSU fans! Make him hate you!
