  1. Finally know what Fickell and Vrabel will be doing... Fickell will be returning to his LB coaching duties. Vrabel will be taking over coaching the DL. So recap of the whole staff Urban Meyer - HC Tom Herman - OC and QB Ed Warriner - OL Tim Hinton - TE Zach Smith - WR Stan Drayton - RB Everett Withers - AHC, co-DC and S Luke Fickell - Co-DC and LB Mike Vrabel - DL Taver Johnson - CB
  2. Because he's a RB playing QB? I wonder how much Borges wanted to kill himself this season having to work with Denard at QB. He may just want to take next year off and wait for Morris...lol.
  3. Something that's always interesting is looking at who Big 10 teams have to play and where they have to play them. I think in 2007 the Big 10 had more than half of its matchups against teams in their home states. OSU played LSU in Louisiana, Illinois played USC in Cali, PSU played A&M in Texas I believe, and those are off the top of my head. This year I know OSU played Florida in Florida, Penn State played Houston in Texas, Illinois played UCLA in Cali, Northwestern played A&M in Texas, heck even Purdue played Western Michigan in Michigan...lol. It's not going to change and I'm not even really bitching, just pointing something out that I think is overlooked a lot.
  4. Didn't see anything from nevada (Scout's forum software is atrocious - can only see the last 10 posts of any member) because I was away from computers for about 10 hours in the middle of the day today but did see it from other people that Berry wasn't there and is looking to transfer. Haven't read anything on TY. Actually read something positive about him last night in a chat with Bill Greene but something certainly could have changed this morning/throughout the day today.
  5. Yeah, I didn't watch the whole game but the announcers mentioned that there was at least one earlier that looked a lot less like a catch than that one and was upheld. And I didn't even notice the false start from the kicker until just seeing that replay at the end of the broadcast. There is no special rule for the kicker. He can't be moving before the snap any more than any other player can. Blatant false start that was missed. Have seen it called before.
  6. Iffy reversing that catch but whatever. It's a W for the B1G...lol. They need to re-school these replay coordinators so they understand that they're not giving their judgment on these calls, they are looking for indisputable evidence against what was ruled on the field. Maybe ceasing the use of retired officials who want to use their own judgment would stop it.
  7. Holy shit that's a heck of a catch if it stands... gotta see some replays.
  8. I didn't watch many Michigan games other than the OSU game and now parts of this one but why doesn't Hoke wear a headset? The only head coaches I can remember in recent years who didn't wear headsets were figureheads in Joe Paterno and Bobby Bowden. Just odd. Good game though.
  9. Yeah, just a "there's a new sheriff in town" kinda deal probably not too dissimilar to the meeting Meyer had with the players the day he was announced except with his full staff this time around. Players will get to meet individually with their position coach throughout the day now.
  10. Hard to argue with that. Also, one of Taylor's coaches posts on Scout and talked about just how badly the last staff absolutely fucked up his recruitment. Taylor and his family tried to contact OSU/Bollman several times. Phone calls, e-mails, etc. None were ever returned. He wanted to be a Buckeye. Think OSU flips him in the end. Also from this morning's meeting apparently Urban singled out Stoneburner in front of the group and said he's going to make him an All-American next season. And some unnamed underclassman overslept and MISSED the meeting. That kid is in for a world of hurt whoever it was.
  11. Top 100 OT Taylor Decker will probably be in play for OSU now. He gave serious thought to making a visit to Columbus back in early December after Urban first contacted him but eventually decided to be loyal to ND. Well, now his lead recruiter (Tim Hinton) and future position coach (Ed Warriner) are both leaving ND for OSU... said he's sent out some texts to coaches to try and figure things out and will have to talk things over with his parents again.
  12. Only a matter of time before the Cotton Bowl is a BCS bowl @ Jerryworld IMO. Also, one thing leaking out from the players' meeting this morning is that it looks like there will be a twitter ban under Meyer.
  13. Big 10 is better than the ACC (as has been proven the last few years in the Big 10-ACC challenge) now and not too far behind the Big East (especially considering the Big East has about 436 teams). But yeah, with the way CBB is set up, most people just don't care too much until March. OSU does play Nebrasketball tonight at 6:30 though. Need to thrash them to bounce back from that ugly Indiana loss. Not ugly score-wise but lots of bad performances. They'll slaughter Indiana by 15+ in a couple weeks here at home.
  14. Also, I think LJ posted it but wanted to comment on it, Ed Warriner for OL coach. I always like to look at what the fans of their former employers say about them for a judge and ND fans are pretty upset that Meyer stole Hinton and Warriner from them. Meyer's staff is complete now and I'd say it's pretty solid. Much more impressed and confident about the offensive side of the ball but the defensive staff has a lot of potential. Lots of Ohio guys so that's good because it shows Urban knows where his bread will be buttered. Lock down Ohio with a solid Ohio born and bred recruiting team then cherry pick kids nationally with his magic and that's going to set you up to win a lot of games. Team has a meeting with Meyer and probably most if not all of the new staff tomorrow morning at 7AM. The last several months have sucked pretty bad but I couldn't be more excited for the Meyer era to begin. I wanted him the day Tressel "resigned" but thought it was just a pipe dream. OSU was on the verge of going through what ND has gone through for a looooong time now and what Michigan went through for 3 years there but instead they got their #1 guy and it's time to see what he can do.
  15. I don't think he was any better really. I know you think I'm a Miller-sucker or something but take a look at Miller vs. Pryor freshman year stats... Pryor Passing 100 completions, 166 attempts. 60.2%, 1311 yards 12 TDs, 4 ints Rushing 139 attempts, 631 yards, 6TDs Miller Passing 85 Completions, 157 attempts, 54.1% 1159 yards 13 TDs, 4 Int. Rushing 159 attempts, 715 yards 7 tds. Very comparable. And Miller was missing lots of guys due to injuries, suspensions, etc. Pryor had Hartline and Robiskie to guide help him along his freshman year, Miller had... Stoney, Philly Brown and some freshmen until the 11th game of the season when he finally got Posey back. Pryor also had Beanie (albeit a hobbled Beanie) to lean on. Miller was without Boom until the 7th game of the season and Jordan Hall was out with suspensions for a couple games. Pryor also had Joe Daniels around to help him and Jim Tressel who was kinda the QB coach himself. Miller had... Nick Siciliano...lol. All in all I think Miller has a chance to be every bit as good as Pryor down the line if not better because he may very well have better coaching and a scheme that better fits his capabilities. Will be fun to watch IMO.
  16. Pretty lackluster day of football. Michigan St.-Georgia was the best game. Didn't really care about the OSU game. Players didn't want to be there, coaches didn't want to be there, but hey, at least they were there and because of it they have to sit out next year's bowl season! Thanks, Gene! Next OSU bowl game won't be until 2014. Yippee! New era starts tomorrow.
  17. Don't have any banking of government official friends and I am neither as well and we're all getting together tomorrow to watch the game since none of us have to work.
  18. Tomorrow is the federal holiday for New Year's so most people will be home and able to watch.
  19. Well, you'll never convince me he had an offer and I'll never convince you he didn't so whatever...lol.
  20. So you pay to read PSU insider boards? I know Lasch Out and Sekrah were the only people/sites to post it for the general public and neither is exactly credible just yet. They've only been around for a month or so...lol. The Rod Smith thing is weird. Some people are saying it actually might be as simple as him actually missing his flight. Which is pretty disturbing in its own right because it means he didn't care enough to go down to Jacksonville with his teammates because he knows 1) the game doesn't really matter and 2) he's not really going to be a part of it. And I wonder how much people in Ireland care about Notre Dame.
  21. Had some Amazon gift cards so I went ahead and ordered the X41's. I have surround sound but I think the headset will be better. Can't turn the surround sound up too much or it comes over the mic and whatnot. Amazon Prime $3.99 1-day shipping = be here Saturday. :fuckyeah:
  22. Yeah, but he didn't coach Auburn when the SEC was a slightly lower division of the NFL like it is now. :lolguy: I get what you're saying though. Unfortunately, he was like their 7th choice. EVERYONE turned them down. Their AD is a real asshole apparently.
