  1. More than likely. OSU has basically 1 true tackle on the roster next season (Norwell). Fragel moves to LT and the line is actually pretty solid (Fragel, Mewhort, Bobek, Linsley, Norwell). Just no depth.
  2. Humphries is interesting. OT which OSU really needs. Committed to Urban and Drayton's old school, Florida. Someone on Scout (not an insider, just a random poster) said they were sitting on a plane next to Drayton leaving or headed to Charlotte (where Humphries is from) yesterday. So I guess that answers who he was going to see. Decker sounds like he's not going to visit OSU now so that's off (Meyer told him he had to visit to get an offer). Kalis won't reconsider. Work on Diamond, Dodson, Davidson and Humphries. The insiders on Scout say there is one position group that simply has Urban scratching his head and it's the OL. With 5-6 spots left in this class I hope for at least 2 of them to be OT's.
  3. Petersen may just never leave Boise. Who knows. I think they've hit their ceiling.
  4. Saban to Texas is just some insane rumor that's been floating around for a couple weeks now. The thing is, Texas probably is the best job in the country and Saban is widely regarded as the best coach in the country. And Texas has the money to do it. Go to Texas, easier to recruit than at Alabama (not that Saban has trouble but it would still be easier), easier path to the national title game (no conference title game at the moment - weaker competition in a conference that doesn't know what defense is), etc. Would be pretty funny but no real validity to it yet.
  5. Meyer will be there in some capacity I'd think. Unless the waiver thing OSU has for new staff and old staff prevents that. Gator fans I've talked to think they'd lose handily.
  6. Kids responding well and be more interested in OSU after talking to Meyer doesn't mean they're going to commit to OSU. Looking at that list... OSU would do well to get maybe 5 of them. Some people think this class ends up in the 22-23 range which would mean 6-7 more. 5-6 is probably more realistic though. Pittman seems very likely (was trending towards OSU even before the Meyer hiring thanks to his girlfriend committing to OSU for basketball). I think Davidson was just kinda sitting back and will follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather and play at OSU. Other than that it's a crapshoot. It would be an incredible feat for Urban to get this class to around 7th or 8th in the country before signing day. Maybe I'm underestimating the guy because I'm so used to the way Tressel and his staff handled recruiting (very laid back approach vs. Meyer's uber-aggressive approach) but I don't see the final 5-6 kids all being 5-star guys and I don't see him giving kids who stayed committed to OSU through some very tough times the boot. And as far as Texas is concerned... just glad we got Urban inked before those rumors started popping up. There's an insane rumor out there that Saban might take the Texas job...lol. I think it's the #1 job in the country. They have their pick of about 50 high-level D1 kids every year in their state and they have the ability to go national if those 50 4- and 5-star recruits can't fill their specific needs. Brown has underachieved in epic fashion at Texas.
  7. Posted that gif before the game was even over. :gabe: It's so good though. And did you just get on Scout premium or something? Seems like you just started posting all of their stuff. Another guy who seems pretty tapped in to the Stoops stuff is Marc Givler on Rivals (only guy worth anything on Rivals) and he had this to say tonight...
  8. Ehhh... they really weren't "just fine" before Petersen. They sucked when they moved up to the FBS, got Dirk Koetter and did pretty good (2 Humanitarian Bowl W's) then in came Dan Hawkins and his offensive coordinator, Chris Petersen. They started doing really well and Hawkins went to Colorado. Think we all know how that turned out. Hawkins left and Petersen stayed and Boise, IMO, actually got better leading me to believe Petersen had a lot to do with Boise's success even under Hawkins. He leaves and they're probably going to have to promote from within again except there probably isn't another Chris Petersen on that staff and Chris Petersen might want to take any of the good ones with him. Had Petersen's son not been so sick when Hawkins left for Colorado (bed-ridden for months at a time with spinal cancer I believe - diagnosed when he was 1) maybe Petersen leaves with him and Colorado actually becomes respectable and Boise fades into the background then. And UCLA isn't really a basketball school anymore. It's a nothing school. Basketball and football teams suck. Go in there and take advantage of USC being limited by sanctions over the next few years. Would be interesting if Petersen failed in a big-time conference like Hawkins did though. Would truly prove that non-BCS conference success was all a mirage.
  9. Stoops is in a tough situation. Divorced with joint custody of the kids and ex-wife won't leave Arizona. He's not going to get another good job in Arizona so pretty much anywhere he ends up it's a flight to see the kids. $1m/yr buys a lot of flights. He's supposedly making his decision today. If OSU were on the west coast this would be done.
  10. I guess Vrabel visited Najee Murray this morning. Don't think Meyer would put him out on the recruiting trail if he wasn't staying so I guess that decision has been made. Also, in non-OSU news, it looks like alittlelessordinary's favorite program is about to crumble. Chris Peterson probably taking the UCLA job. Good night, sweet Boise.
  11. Yeah, Smith got up and was walking around and everything towards the end but pretty sure watching the game he kept saying "my ass" lol. Then they showed him going to the bench and he actually couldn't even sit down. Just hope he's good to go for the game in Kansas on Dec. 10th.
  12. That's all he's going to keep. Everyone else is gone. Fickell's role is kinda up in the air. Could go back to being co-DC and coaching LB's or might move to coaching the DL since he played on the DL and Heacock is gone. Urban/OSU has money set aside for 3 $750k-$1m assistants. That's Fickell, a DC and an OC. That's part of the reason Urban ended up around $4m a year instead of $5-6m. He gave up money to ensure that he'd get top-notch assistants. That's key in keeping himself healthy/balanced.
  13. Yeah, no doubt he'll be a lottery pick. It's just he's a 4/5 who can't guard either. While he did drop bad weight in the off-season he didn't seem to gain any explosiveness. That's the biggest thing I was hoping for from his freshman year to his sophomore year. Also, I hope Lenzelle Smith is going to be OK. Reminds me of a young Lighty. He was all over dudes defensively last night.
  14. Speaking of kids going to ND, Taylor Decker, 4-star OT out of Vandalia, OH, currently committed to ND, getting a visit from Taver Johnson (Urban is keeping him) today. Basically Urban came in and noticed there were some serious fuck ups as far as offensive line recruiting was concerned over the last year or so so they're going after everyone. Working on Dodson (OSU will be at his school tomorrow I believe - same school as Urban's first 2013 offer), Decker and they did make a call to Kalis although that's not likely to happen. I think Decker will be similar to Kalis (been too long and too solid) but Urban will leave no stone unturned. Also, Mike Stoops in town today meeting with Urban about the DC job.
  15. It did feel weird quoting what you said and elaborating on it in full agreement...lol.
  16. Yeah, Sully is a mediocre defender and not incredibly athletic. He's like a bulkier Tyler Hansbrough. Hansbrough started doing OK in the NBA this past season but he'll never be a superstar.
  17. Yep, he'll be Urban's Percy at OSU. Pretty much an OSU lock now. Was interested in ND a bit but his relationship was with Tim Hinton who Urban is taking from ND to coach here...lol. Poor ND.
  18. Deshaun is incredible when he focuses on staying around the basket. He's a great rebounded and scorer around the rim. Like you mentioned his HS stats, he was a double-double machine. Tons of games where he had close to 40 points and 20 rebounds.
  19. Then for the DL you've also got the chance to flip Se'Von Pittman who is currently committed to MSU. It was a sick year in the state for defensive linemen but obviously the Tressel/NCAA stuff kinda screwed that up. But OSU is still gonna finish very, very strong with Urban then 2013... going to be nuts.
  20. Nope. He decided to just keep recruiting instead. :gabe: #1 DE in the country who OSU probably didn't even really contact before Meyer showed up... http://i.imgur.com/iWFrQ.png :fuckyeah:
  21. He probably calls Michigan State "State." Either way, I'll never be able to listen to him and not picture Matt Foley, motivational speaker. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxm3fqmRtQc
  22. Yeah, Urban will use this period and the 15 bowl practices as an evaluation period for the players he'll have next season. Get a feel for what he's got to work with. Because he won't get to really work with the team against until spring practice starts up.
