It's going to be too COLD tonight to be standing in a parking lot (10 p.m. forecast=49 degreees, 14 mph wind), so it should be a decent time to try out the hangout. The front half is pretty much done. Foosball should be up and running tonight. 55" screen with XB360 is ready to go. Blue Rays on hand include Fast & Furious 1-5, Boondock Saints 1 & 2. If there's local station sports programming you want to watch, we can do that as well. If there's interest, we'll order pizzas at 8 p.m. and see how that works. The frig is full of bottled water and Red Bull/Monster/Arnie Palmers. There is a vending machine for pop, but the Delco Drive Through is across the street. Please do not bring alcohol or drugs on the premises. If you don't want pizza, there's a McDonald's down the pike at Sandusky Street and London Road. If you have Forza 3 or 4, bring it along with your favorite game. I've only got a few Connect games so far. I have 3 controllers that have never been tested, so bring your own controller along if you want. The garage is open but not cleaned up, so you're welcome to poke around my cars, but don't expect a museum experience. The key element is that the whole place will be TOASTY WARM Stay as late as you want. Restrooms are on-site. Cars are within eyesight. The front door will open at 7:30 p.m. We order pizza at 8, pizzas should be ready to eat by 8:45. Popo are bound to be watching your exit, so please, no ricer stuff. The hangout is smoke-free, but you can smoke in the garage, police your own butts. In case you haven't been there, here are directions: Howald Industrial Park 320 London Road, Suite 101 (in Building 100) Delaware, Ohio (across from the intersection of London Road the Liberty Road) the place is 14 miles north of Home Depot/Sawmill it is 1.5 miles from the large Jegs Warehouse at Route 42 and London Road If you are coming from Columbus, it's easy to just go north on US 23 to the first Delaware exit (South Sandusky Street, exit to the left but turn right on Sandusky, then go about a mile and turn left onto London Road. The place will be on your right just after the Delco Drive Through. If you are coming from Sawmill, go directly north on Sawmill Road until it ends at the Hyatts Road Roundabout. Turn right (east) on Hyatts Road, go into the village of Hyatts, turn left (north) on Liberty Road. Liberty road dead ends at the industrial park (turn left onto London Road, then immediately right, into the park). PLEASE POST TO THE THREAD IF YOU INTEND TO COME SO I HAVE AN IDEA HOW MANY TO SET-UP FOR Questions/problems: Text me at 740-405-5565. I've got a full day today, so be patient about me getting back to you. Hope to see you tonight!

People who have access to that capacity (getting personal information from a license plate number) can get into hot water for doing that unless they had a legit (work-related) reason to do it. And with all the internal security that most agencies have, this type of information access is being monitored somewhere, by someone. So, could you find someone willing to take the risk and get you the info? Maybe. Should you put a friend's job at risk over something like this? Prolly not. If you have evidence that someone is messing with your stuff and you have a plate number, you may want to have a discussion with your local law enforcement and see what options they suggest. Here is a similar thread: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70576&highlight=license One post has a link to a site that claims to give you personal data based on the plate number; I guess you could try it and see.

Buck, that's a lie and you know it. I don't move nearly that fast and I usually accidently spray myself at least twice during the process.

I owned one for about a year and totally agree with the above comments. Even though mine was only 6 years old back then, there were frequent electronic and accessory problems. Mine was a very tight, great driving and riding car. It's hard for me to imagine one for that price that didn't have serious and major issues, though.
-
Thanks for the pics; I almost feel as though I attended. Some great cars there, and you had a great day for it.

Not exactly the much-improved second try that people were hoping for .... Did you read the directions in the stickies?
-
Yeah, I'm likin' the sound of that, Mark. Congrats on getting this done without triggering a divorce.
-
No. A bigger penis.

See how good it feels after Nov 5th. You'll end up wanting what every Audi owner yearns for.
-
You're standing in my light, kid. :gtfo:

Your hopes and dreams will be a distant memory for you after the November track day, 'cause I'm bringing the Bentley out to put that econo-box Audi of yours in its place. I'm tired of hearing all this yacking about you "mopping up." The only mopping up you'll be doing November 5th is your mopping up the fluids your pos spewed down the track as it broke running against a real luxojet. :fuckyeah:

Sounds disgusting, but I've never tried it ...... so I'm down

transmission shop recommendations needed
Doc1647545523 replied to Stallion Motorsports1647545491's topic in Passing Lane
I've sent a number of people to MD Transmission in Delaware. Well worth the drive if money is a concern. I don't think you could find better quality. Tell them I said to give you Doc's discount. I think you'll find it the lowest price around. Mark and David are the owners. -
Thanks for the comments and the gaming vote. Do you know if Goodwill cleans/treats the upholstered furniture to ensure there aren't fleas or bedbugs? That's something I want to be careful about. I'm looking for oversized chairs or recliners. A wingback chair would be good. Most important would be comfort. If it's fabric, something that matched or coordinated with the sofas in the photo would be good. The walls are a light yellow/cream, so cream leather would work, too. No bean bag chairs, small accent chairs, rocking chairs, swivel chairs, desk chairs. A classy wooden game table with matching chairs would work. Tired-looking furniture or chairs with slipcovers are out. I don't mind paying for the chairs, but I won't pay a price that's near the price of new. A coffee brewer will be most welcome. Let me know if you need me to pick it up. I assume it's a "pourover" and not one which needs plumbed. I did buy it off of CR, and there was a thread: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=83296 but that was in August 2010! It's had quite a bit done to it since then, with many thanks to North End Wrench, WheelMedic, FyrhzrdGT, and especially to Kevin Clifford.

I suppose it would be if I were to start a stunt riding school and use the stored bikes without the owners' permission. Or if I moved the bikes outside for a week. Or if I sold parts off of them. But I'm not planning any of those things. Almost anything you choose to do in life will present risk. How you manage that risk is part of what defines who you are. I've taken risks in the past I shouldn't have, but some of the best things I've ever done were because I faced the risks. I can't be worried about every little thing. And in the grand scheme, offering to store a friend's bike for the winter is a little thing. Big risks? How about telling an incarcerated mobster that you're not recommending parole for him? How about taking on a new patient who's homicidal or suicidal? Welcome to my world. And, sometimes, trying to "play it safe" is the most dangerous thing you could possibly do.

Thanks for the offers, but I am going to hold off for now. I'm shopping for a nice gaming table with chairs, and if I get that, I'll pass on the foosball idea. I've already got a couple spare DVD players myself. The jury is still out on the gaming system, but it will likely be one that plays DVD's/blu-ray. A number of members are on the lookout for the stuff I think would complete the place, and I've let them know about the colors and style I think would look good. It wouldn't be a big concern if this space were strictly for CR, but it has to double as a clinic waiting room, so it can't look like a fraternity rec room. I still have photos and posters to put up and a bunch of little things to finish. After all that is done, then I need to start working on the garage to make room for two loaner spots. I can also start accepting bikes for winter storage for those who have asked me about it.

Okey-dokey. Here's where the hangout stands as of today: The main room has a couple of good couches, carpet is clean. Foosball table/card table/pinball would go along the far wall, to the left of the door. I want another 2-3 large chairs. Folding chairs can be set-up as needed. Rest rooms, water fountain, and the pop machine are through the glass door. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/hangout/001.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/hangout/002.jpg Frig is fully stocked with beverages. Cupboards have paper plates, cups, utensils, trash bags ..... just the basic support stuff if someone brings food. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/hangout/003.jpg The TV will be between the windows, above where the mounting bracket box sits on the floor. From the main room, there is an excellent view of the front (south) parking lot. Cars are only a few feet from the window, and the lights stay on all night. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/hangout/004.jpg TV is awaiting installation: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/hangout/016.jpg Door mats and floor runners are in place ..... this is the hallway which leads outside to the large east parking lot: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/hangout/011.jpg My office is mostly set-up: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/hangout/008.jpg Great views of both parking lots http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/hangout/005.jpg The desk that I'm so picky about: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/hangout/009.jpg And the garage as it really is ...... dirty and filled with dirty cars: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/hangout/012.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/hangout/013.jpg

I'll be working in the office from about 1:30 until 4 today if anyone is just out for a drive and wants to see the place. If you want to help for a few minutes, you're welcome to .... There's always some wofk to do.
-
Same shop that I've had for a few years. Added the office area a couple months ago. Of course, the shop is full of cars and is a lot dirtier than those original photos. I'll post a few pics later of what it looks like now.
-
Thanks for the offers, gents, but the TV is purchased already. Really looking for advice/hookups for a video game system and excellent condition easy chairs/recliners. Blue, gold and cream are colors that might work with what I already have. Ideally, a classic pinball machine, foosball table, and jukebox would be great, but we know that isn't going to happen on the cheap.
-
I use it to clean and store my cars. The office will be for the free clinic. It's not much of a getaway ...... just another place to go to work. But I admit, I enjoy cranking up the music, lighting a cigar, and polishing a chrome grill.

The garage is 3,000 sf, heated, with an area to wash/detail cars. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/fromwestdoor-vertical.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/from105door.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/stallssink.jpg The office is adjoined to the garage and is an additional 900 sf. It is heated and has A/C. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/office/frontroom.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/office/viewfromdoor.jpg About 200 sf will be my office. The remaining 700 sf will be available as a hangout for small gatherings of CR people. It will double as a reception area for a free clinic two afternoons a month. As the weather gets cooler, it will be nice to be able to meet at a parking lot where the lights stay on and where people can go inside where it's warm, share a pizza, watch the big screen, but still have a clear view of their cars: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/office/viewfrontlot.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/office/lookingeast.jpg

Today I moved some basic office furniture into the new hangout. I say "I moved" but actually I only drove the moving truck. Patrick (BIGGU), Chris (major payne), Sean (Crossle), and Steven (macpyro2) did all the lifting and carrying. Many thanks, guys. My office is now 90% set-up and about a 30% of the CR hangout room is together. Currently there is seating for 14, refrigerator, small counter with cupboards. I'm searching for some oversized stuffed chairs, maybe a recliner or two, some rug runners. I'm going to need to set up gaming for the big screen, so if you have some advice or some appropriate equipment to donate/sell cheap, let me know. I was told that if I went with PS3, I wouldn't have to buy a separate blu-ray player. It's simple things such as that (which I didn't know) which can be very helpful and save me some money. Before it turns cold, I hope to have room in the garage for two loaner spaces for members to use to work on their cars. It's a work in progress, so have patience. I don't have the time to get it all done myself, so I'm very appreciative to those who have helped so far and to those who have volunteeered to help.
