But there is an acceptable amount of leaking fuel? Remind me not to park by you.

whoops http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94451 I'll be in the car show in Luxury class, going for a repeat first place (won last year with the SL 600). For the drag races I have to compete in Outlaw class because of the of the twin-turbo W-12. It seems strange to have to run a stock luxury car in Outlaw, but those are the rules. :dumb:

I'll bring the Louis Black DVD's along. Many thanks for the loan.

Anyone heading out tonight? It's looking to stay dry in north cmh, but the forecast for tomorrow is for storms. It's QSL Fast & Furious tonight, so I thought I might stop there around 9 for some antenna pretzels on the patio then head over to HD.

I should have known a Miata was in your future as soon as I saw your new right ear piercing. :lolguy: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/July%203rd%20CR%20cookout/Cordell.jpg

Three of my cars nominated, but no one thought the Century would be a good idea? http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/century.jpg Our motto here at Dox's Limo Rental: "If it's good enough to cart around the emperor's ass, it's good enough to haul your bride's ass around the block"

Nope, don't have any. There were so many really interesting cars ..... I was more interested in seeing the cars and talking with the people than I was with snapping pics of everything. I've been at car shows where I didn't take a single photo, but at volksfest, I wanted a video of the whole thing---- nearly every car was something rare, something well-done, or something funny.

For those who were interested but couldn't make it, a few photos are here: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95238

You'd think it would be boring with dozens of the same model car, but VW owners seem more prone than most to want to modify. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/volksfest%202011/DSCN0268.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/volksfest%202011/DSCN0267.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/volksfest%202011/DSCN0274.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/volksfest%202011/DSCN0273.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/volksfest%202011/DSCN0272.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/volksfest%202011/DSCN0276.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/volksfest%202011/DSCN0275.jpg There were a few bikes with VW motors: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/volksfest%202011/DSCN0282.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/volksfest%202011/DSCN0283.jpg

Pardon the snapshot quality ...... just thought you might want a quick peek if you didn't get the chance to attend. It looks as though the rain has passed through Pataskala, so I'm headed over there now. Maybe catch you guys over there.

Welcome to CR, Chuck. Great looking car! You'll find a number of CR members and sponsors into GT500's. I hope you get to make it to some CR track days and other events. + rep

With all the VAG lovers on here, I was surprised that no one had posted this yet. I went last year and was surprised how high quality nearly every entry was. Could be a fun destination after cars and coffee? Details here: http://www.covvc.org/volksfest Lots of good photos from past years at the bottom of the page. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/2010ratrod.jpg

Max & Justin are coming? Then it's the WRC fer shure.

I couldn't agree more with Tim on this. Meeting with a pion may have some appeal, since they're spinless, but they aren't good intermediators unless you're a nucleon. My last meeting with a pion went poorly once I found out it was just a pseudoscalar. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/250px-Quark_structure_pion_svg.png

Being on Farkas's side of almost any argument or endeavor can be a very lonely experience.

Voted ...... although I'm not going to disclose whether it was  or :thumbdown

Very sharp, Norm. I'm looking forward to seeing it in person when you visit.

Tim, it's not my intention to get into a major debate, but I think we could both agree that criminal profiling, or any type of predictive attribution, has some usefulness in protecting society. My issue with your original statement was that I don't believe that anyone should be placed "under the microscope" because of only their name and religion. In our society (which has given federal law enforcement powerful technologicial tools, big budgets, and relatively ineffective public oversight), being "under the microscope" can be pretty invasive. So invasive, that I feel it violates our rights under the Fourth Amendment (protecting against unreasonable search and seizure without probable cause) and the Fourteenth (which requires that all citizens be treated equally by the law). We may not agree on this issue of putting people under the microscope, but I respect your right to your opinion. If I've understood your sentiments accurately, though, I think it's a slippery slope that leads away from freedom and liberty (which I cherish) and towards a totalitarian state.
-
I so totally agree. Barack Hussein sounds pretty suspicious to me, too. And after Waco and Oklahoma City, I think we should have kept Republicans, Christians, and NRA members under the microscope, based on the shoe fitting. Wait a minute ...... isn't your name "Timothy," same as the Oklahoma City bomber? You aren't by any chance Republican and Christian, are you? These are just routine questions, sir, but please keep your hands in plain sight and don't make any sudden moves ..........

As a counterpoint to all this survivalist talk, consider that your preparation for widespread civil unrest may amount to nothing more than a modern Maginot Line. The one who prevails against you is the enemy who never attacks the way you planned, if he attacks you at all, if he even is your enemy. I believe this applies to adverse conditions as well as to human "enemies." How much investment in time, money, and effort are you willing to make to protect yourself from the future?

We ended Day Three in downtown Charleston at the very luxurious Marriott. Team Bentley finished the Rally with no prizes. We finished fifth place on Day Three due to a route "gamble" that didn't deliver. But we had a great time and learned that you don't have to win the rally to have a blast. This year, Team Mercedes did the representing for CR. The day ended with a party in Old Charleston at the Southend Brewery. We rented two floors and had a band. There was an awards ceremony and much revelry past 2 a.m. on the streets of Charleston. Somehow, a Mob Theory sticker ended up on a Charleston Police cruiser. I'm told that the officers were not very amused. But just so you're not totally disappointed in Team Bentley, let me tell you about some fun we had on Day One. There was a lot of discussion about which of the 80 teams brought the most horsepower the the Rally. I got kidded that I had to take backseat to a built Cosworth STI that soaked up 100 grand and put out over 700 horses. As luck would have it, I came up on said STI on the freeway on the first day, and we signalled that CR was ready to roll. The Subie driver gave the signal that he'd honk it off. We each slowed to 60, downshifted to 4th, and on the third honk, Subie got a great view of the ass end of of Flying Spur. I let off at 140 and when he pulled along side, he gave a look of astonishment and a thumbs up. I later heard that he wanted a rematch and that he told people he wasn't ready (even though he honked it off). Then I heard that he said he was having clutch problems. He never spoke any of this to me directly, in fact, he didn't bring anything up about to me for the rest of the rally. So, don't be totally ashamed of me, I've learned from you all! http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Rally%20Appalachia%202011/bilde.jpg I can't say enough good about Paul-Michael and Nicky. Everyone in the rally was so impressed with them. They were a joy to travel with and great sports. They did CR proud. I hope we can attend another rally together. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Rally%20Appalachia%202011/bilde2.jpg Farkas was of course fun to travel with and a great navigator and driver. You don't take just anyone on one of these things for a week. We're already plotting our revenge strategy for next year. One of the two organizers for this event is CR member Scott Spielman (Spieldawg), and he does an outstanding job and put in hundreds of hours of work. The charity for this year is the very worthy Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, providing state of the art rehabilitation for wounded veterans. I believe the rally raised five figures for the charity. If you think you might be interested in participating in a rally this diverse (this year teams came from 29 states and from Canada), bookmark this site http://forum.rallynorthamerica.com and follow the planning of Rally 2012. A final location has yet to be determined, but it's bound to be worth the trip. Just ask any of us who went.
