  1. If I wanted to relive my childhood I would saddle-up the paint, meet up with my renegade friends, and go raid a nearby village of peaceful Indians. But there's no going back to that. So, I'm looking for some modern equivalent. And I'm not allowed on roller skates in public places anymore. Special OSHA restriction they enacted after my last attempt. But I don't want to dwell on that .......
  2. The nights don't get much nicer than this  Anyone meeting up? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
  3. In the words of Yogi Berra, it's like deja vu all over again. (duplicate thread)
  4. Well if you didn't cut them off, you at least scratched them. Welcome to CR.
  5. compared to your posts on CR, even what Paris Hilton says sounds important and well thought out .....
  6. I guess I'd better hold back rep, too. If he's eluding your keen acumen and insight into people's characters based on a few posts and photos of the car he drives, well ........ then I guess he's a truly enigmatic force we should be leery to trust. + rep Oh no! I accidently positive repped him. I hope I haven't jeopardized our entire operation here.
  7. Very sharp car. It's hard to imagine spending less than 5 large and getting a better car than this. Good luck with the sale.
  8. I'll take August 2009. And I won't even go "ape shit" during the month to try to get him to close it. It's been a while since I've gone ape shit, actually. A long while. But it wasn't pretty.
  9. Agreed. And many of those who can afford it don't desire it. It seems that a large percentage of the world's true supercars get clustered together in large collections of afficionados and never used the way the designers intended. I've known a few guys who had that one, great car and then a daily driver or two. But it seems the exception rather than the rule. I have friends at MAG who talk about the Rolls Royce, Bentley, Ferrari sales ....... about a dozen local individuals account for the largest part. FijiMiata3 and I were at MAG about two weeks ago and we were shown the new Phantom Drophead which was sold to a Columbus customer--it will join the other 8 or so late model Rolls/Bentley products in his garage. Life behind the hedges, I guess.
  10. On the other hand, a 2008 model still sitting on the showroom floor in July of 2009 might indicate that there's been a little belt-tightening by the Scottsdale financial market bandits ....
  11. AudiOn19s (a sponsor here) can hook you up (http://www.andyschoice.com) There are probably other detailer/sponsors here who can connect you with good suppliers, too. I am partial to Griot's Garage for a lot of my supplies. I think that buying chemicals from one supplier cuts down on the chance of having an unfavorable chemical reaction between products applied to the paint surface. For example, you don't want your soap cutting through your wax/sealant. And you don't want to mix silicone and non-silicone products on the same surface. When I spray Griot's spray wax on the car before drying it, I know that it is supporting the Griot's sealant already on the surface rather than dulling it or dissolving it.
  12. Jeez, Louise .......... what a macabre group you old guys are To paraphrase a bumper sticker: you don't stop doing the things you love because you get old -- you get old because you stop doing the things you love. When you start feeling the way you describe, it's time to re-invent yourselves. Time for a quickening. Time for a motorcycle ride. Time to go howl at the moon with your buddies, even if your buddies are dogs. I took a lesson from these lines which I had to memorize in high school English class (do students still memorize poems? if not, it's a damn shame): An aged man is but a paltry thing, A tattered coat upon a stick, unless Soul clap its hands and sing ..... -William Butler Yeats Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light. -Dylan Thomas I refuse to get old because it would mean having to give up my toys .... and I do love my toys.
  13. Anyone riding up early Friday morning? I'm headed up US 42, which is always a fun jaunt. The weather looks perfect for Friday.
  14. 30% chance of rain Saturday, so if I'm not at AMA Vintage at Mid-Ohio, I'll be out.
  15. I admit, it does appeal to me. But I'd have no use for the second seat .... I wouldn't want to share that experience with anyone. You know that it's all about me, right?
  16. Well, everyone, thanks for the input. Even the digs were in good spirit and not hateful. Two to one you think it's "cute." But not everyone thinks it's cute, so THERE, oil cooler boy! :gtfo: And I still think it's classic, but it a quirky way. I might mod the engine, but I have some definite plans for the interior. I hope to have it finished and out and around this fall. I think it will always have some rarity factor: the company only made 1900 of these (1993-2009). I'm sure I'll have fun driving it. And what most of us suspected was confirmed by the poll: Paul is gay. What remains a mystery is whether he might also be a closet Amishman.
  17. I'm planning on being there most of the weekend. When the weather's decent, Fridays are the best days because you miss a lot of the crowd and the vendors/swap meet have the most stock.
  18. I don't have many pics of my cars. I don't have any that I can find of the Benz with the CCW wheels on, but they are the wheels which were on it at the Open House last month ..... not sure if you noticed the wheels then or not.
  19. Here's a link to their webpage with some of the dark chrome services they have: http://www.theroundhouse.ws/Services.html Wheel Medic is a CR sponsor and you can find their contact info in the sponsor thread or by googling their name. I'm sure if you contact Mike, he can give you a lot more details. They also have some representative wheels on display on their shop. They all looked great to me.
  20. I made it over about 2:30 and it was a really big group. My first Ohio Rider event--everyone was very friendly, and there were some great bikes to look at. I got to talk with Ben for a few minutes, which was unexpected, since the organizer of an event is usually running around stamping out fires. I tried to make it home to come back with the Duc and have supper with the group, but got sidetracked and didn't get back to Delaware in time. I'm sure they'll be out in force next weekend at Mid-Ohio for Superbike Weekend, so I'll see if I can mosey on over to their lair in the campgrounds and mooch some grub and libation.
  21. This will go more smoothly if you read the stickies and follow the suggestions. Welcome, though. :nopics:
  22. Bump for what looks like a fun time. You certainly got the right day 4 it.
