Scion for Toyota was in a lot of ways what Edsel was for Ford -- a good idea in theory, but the wrong move for the times. I disagree with you, Grant; the FRS is a great car to own. But I think it should have been the Toyota GT86 from the start instead of a Scion.

Sounds like there's some connection between Red Bull consumption and frequent relocation.

Welcome! I see from your profile that you're a fellow Mitsuoka owner. What would you figure the odds were of having two on CR? exactly zero

And that's your excuse for not being at Cars & Coffee? Your job really sucks, Rob.

Buster, beware.

No, and I wasn't sure if the issue could be the same with me not using Kodi. I considered the jailbreak, since I do a lot of movie watching, but it didn't seem quite kosher to me, so I decided to just keep the basic Firestick.
-
I get the buffering perhaps once every month or so. I reset my router and also unplug the Firestick for a few seconds and everything comes back without further delays. I don't know enough about it to say if that's the same problem you're having, but it might be worth a try.

Not one of Rally North America's best videos, IMO. Rob Ferretti (Superspeeders) didn't understand the concept of the rally and had a lot of difficulty navigating it despite the fact that he was given the checkpoint locations in advance, along with written directions to them. He flew from New York to Michigan and rented his rally ride because he felt that the drive would be "too far." LOL He wasn't competing in the rally, but still managed to get two speeding tickets in two days. CR will have teams in the Big Sky Rally this summer, covering points in the Pacific Northwest. Watch for threads in the future.

It was good to see everyone. I thought 13 was a great showing on short notice. The last guests were on the road by 2 a.m.

I lit the furnaces, so it should be toasty warm. The frig is stocked, x-box on, and I see there's a big, bright full moon rising. Trouble finding your way to the Hangout? 740-405-5565

Clay, this has been your baby from day one, and you've done a great job of growing it into a enjoyable, sustainable event. It takes effort to successfully promote this with social media, but you've done an excellent job on that end, too. When others have asked me what the "secret" was to CC&C's success, I've said it was because you've kept it simple -- no membership, no dues, no events, no one excluded. If you like cars, you're welcome. Rain or shine, always the same time, same place. You draw some really great people to Lennox on Saturday morning. I think if you begin to take on fund raising, cruises, special events, shop tours, car shows, logo wear, etc., then I think it adds a level of complication that takes you away from your "center." Do you really want to follow the course that the other CC&C did? Just my .02

Fuel Economy, Power, Weight trends 1975-present

Oh, how I yearn for those good ol' days .... http://i1008.photobucket.com/albums/af208/trentrbrts/as95-631_zpsabkznkxo.jpg http://i1008.photobucket.com/albums/af208/trentrbrts/recentlyupdated116_zps45ajbsdv.jpg http://i1008.photobucket.com/albums/af208/trentrbrts/FLAG_POLICY_DURING_THE_1973_oil_crisis_zpsithbsbn0.gif -
Fuel Economy, Power, Weight trends 1975-present
Doc1647545523 replied to Das Borgen's topic in Passing Lane
Well, 1975 was a major turning point in trends. The OPEC oil embargo was in 1973 (in response to the U.S. support of Israel), and by the time it ended in 1974, oil prices had quadrupled, and we started seeing the first results of American auto makers' serious attempts at making cars with better gas mileage. Those early attempts were pretty pathetic (how do you make a 1973 Olds 98 into an economy car?) and in many cases consisted of lowering the compression of big-blocks, while the EPA was mandating the addition of pollution-control. Anything on the car that could be made lighter, was. This was also the era when GM thought they could take their gas 350 ci V8 and with a little modification, make it into a diesel. :lolguy: It's hard for you young bucks to imagine, but the U.S. had gas rationing in 1973 and 1974. It took a few years for the manufacturers to find ways of significantly improving mileage while giving customers cars they wanted. Engine technology got better, cars got lighter, mileage went up, and ultimately quality improved. I'm sure there are many other factors at play, but that's how I look at the graph, FWIW. -
People say they want more weekend meets, but the last two Columbus Cars and Coffee Saturdays have been dry weather, warmer than average for winter, yet only one or two CR members attended. Nick attempts to get CR people together almost every weekend, but lately there's been little interest in either dinner or going to the Hangout. I'm willing to open the place up if there are at least four people wanting to go and if I don't already have something planned. Sometimes you can call me just a few hours in advance, but usually my Saturday night dance card is filled by then. IMHO it is best to plan in advance (as Gary said above) and start a thread to let people know.

Welcome, Rob. I'm glad to see that you followed-through on my suggestion. I think you'll find this a great group of folks. I hope to run into you again at events in the spring. We don't have many rallycross drivers here, but those we have are really enthusiastic about the sport. Great intro, BTW!

Your thread about buying this car was entitled "The day my life started." Shouldn't the For Sale thread be called "The End of the World," or something at least as dramatic? :gabe: Just foolin', boyo. I hope it goes on to another good owner and you find something you like even more. Pulled this from the thread about the day your life started: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1826204&postcount=43 .

Welcome, Nate. Glad you finally joined. Sorry you didn't sign-up before the holiday party .... you missed a good time.

Saddest Christmas commercial I've ever seen
Doc1647545523 replied to Doc1647545523's topic in Pics and Vids
Agreed, it's better if you suspend logic and just let your feels run. Otherwise, you have to punch the old man for trolling his kids and grandkids, pulling them from across the globe and away from their work. It would be interesting trying to explain to HR that your emergency bereavement leave was a hoax. Let alone imagining that the kids would just show up at the house without checking with the funeral home or with friends in the area. And the daughter gets a printed "death announcement" in the mail that her father died? I just took it at the gut level -- make time for your loved ones while they are with you, flowers to the living, and all that. It sure pushed my buttons. -

I'm looking forward to seeing a big crowd. Just in case you aren't able to join us at Quaker Steak, you're still welcome at the Hangout. It will open at 9:00 p.m. For those who haven't been to the Hangout, it's in the Howald Industrial Park at 320 London Road in Delaware, Ohio. As you come down the entry drive, you'll see the Christmas lights in the front of the first building in the Park. Park in front of the lights and come on in. There's no smoking allowed in the building. There is a smokers' station at the entrance. Please dispose of your cigarette butts there rather than in the shrubs or in the parking lot. Drugs and alcohol are prohibited in the Park. If you have trouble finding your way, call me at 740-405-5565.

:nopics: Rich, post some pics before the sharks start taking bites out of you. A number of members here know you from C&C but don't recognize you.

Triston, I'm happy that you took my advice and joined. There are lots of great people on here who have helped me numerous times with matters automotive and non. I hope you find the CR community as valuable as it has been for me and that you contribute to it with your support and talents. Welcome to CR!
