Wheel Medic hit a homerun with their company donation :grin2: Many thanks to Bryce, Hannah, Ronnie, and the whole crew. One of the nicest logos I've seen: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/2015%20Smoky%20Mountains%20Rally/wheelmedic.big_zpsi84bluje.jpg It's looking good on the vehicle: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/2015%20Smoky%20Mountains%20Rally/wheelmedic%20small_zpsn0nphu1e.jpg

Even shrinking it down, it couldn't be put square on the hood. Not much in the way of flat surfaces on these contraptions. Thanks for your generous donation, Chandler. Sometimes it feels that way, Austin. The sponsor wants to give $10 and put a 30x40 decal on every door! I try to accommodate sponsors as best I can, and I thank them publicly at every opportunity. Thank you David. I appreciate what you've done. I'll be calling Jeff tomorrow.

As some of you know, I've entered the 2015 Rally North America event, The Smoky Mountain Rally. Every year, Rally North America chooses a charity to benefit from the event, instead of having prizes for the winners. This year, "Hope for the Warriors" has been chosen as the beneficiary. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/2015%20Smoky%20Mountains%20Rally/hood_zpsihwiamj3.jpg Hope for the Warriors is a national non-profit, founded in 2000 by military wives and still operated under the direction of them. They provide support to wounded U.S. veterans and their families. Read more about them here: http://www.kintera.org/faf/help/helpAboutOrg.asp?ievent=1125309&lis=0&kntae1125309=5476707346854D9E8B64A86687D2B33E From July 13-16 we'll be covering about 2500 miles from Ohio through the Dixie states and back again, and will have events at Atlanta Dragway and Roebeling Raceway. More about this specific rally can be found here: http://www.kintera.org/faf/help/helpEventInfo.asp?ievent=1125309&lis=0&kntae1125309=5476707346854D9E8B64A86687D2B33E And the Rally North America homepage: https://www.rallynorthamerica.com/ Over the last six years, CR has had great representation at the Rally North America events and has had numerous podium finishes. This year CR is represented by Coaster (Brian & Nikki) and me. I'm driving the event solo and I'm taking the Slingshot. It will be the first time a 3-wheel vehicle will be competing in the national rally. With the open vehicle's exposure to the heat and rain, I'll be limited in the use of electronics for nav, problem solving, radar and laser detection, and the like. I'm going to rely on maps, friends, and a little luck. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/2015%20Smoky%20Mountains%20Rally/road%20ahead%201_zpskcdlhyeb.jpg For the second year, we'll have Matt Farah from Smoking Tire/ iDrive along. I'm asking friends (who are comfortable donating) to make an online donation through my page:http://www.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=1125309&lis=0&kntae1125309=5476707346854D9E8B64A86687D2B33E&supId=414974247 Click on the blue button "GIVE NOW" on the right-hand side of the page. Donations are tax-deductable and you're emailed a receipt for tax purposes within the hour. Your donation goes directly to the charity; none of it goes to the Rally or to my team. All of us are donating our time and paying all our own expenses (of course, we have a lot of fun in return, too). I'm asking businesses to donate $100, and at that level I'll put your business advertising on the Slingshot. You can see there's room for more stickers: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/2015%20Smoky%20Mountains%20Rally/drivers%20front_zpsdobjtx2r.jpg Any donation from individuals, even $10, is greatly appreciated. Thanks! P.S. Brian and Nikki made a great donation thread on CR. See it here http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121623 and consider donating to their effort as well.

Here's the thread from a few months ago, asking the same question. Some good suggestions there: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=120572&highlight=wrench

The rain's coming through Delaware now, but it looks clear behind it. I imagine I'll venture down to Sonic around 10 if the roads have dried-out.
-
I plan to make it provided it's not raining.

Good intro and nicely-modded car. Welcome to CR. I hope you can make it out to CR's events this season. + rep

Welcome to CR. I hope you can make it to some of our events. Don't let Scott fool you. He adores Subies. He's always telling me, "Love, it's what makes a Subaru a Subaru." Good intro. + rep

available with a seven-speed manual transmission That's getting right up there in the Fast & Furious category.
-
Will be there (@ QSL & Sonic) with out-of-state guests, rocking the Viewt.

That took some courage. Props to you!

Welcome, Zach. I'm impressed with your willingness to learn-as-you-go. I hope you get to make it out to some meets this year. + rep

Yeah, coupled with a couple of sobriety checkpoints, this could be a cash cow for a small village. :fuuuu:

Thanks for the kind thoughts. 24 hours on CL and not a nibble, unless you count the two scammers. Do people actually fall for the send-me-fifty-dollars-via-Western-Union-so-I-can-pay-you-your-asking-price line? Sure I'll send you money.....wait for it......wait for it. Perhaps it's just not to be. I believe everything happens for a reason* and if it doesn't sell, it can stay under its cover, coming out once a month for its exercise. I don't need to sell it and I'm not lowering the price. It costs me little in insurance, a license fee, and an oil change each year. I'd give it away before I'd sell it too cheaply. *that we later make-up

How much $$$ is acceptable for this hobby?

You retired and then went back to work. I think that still puts you in the demographic. I don't consider any of those three criteria to be bad things, BTW. Do you? -
Thanks for all the compliments. It's now on Craigslist: http://columbus.craigslist.org/mcy/5029612799.html I'll still honor the CR price for anyone interested.

You're good to go, then. I hope to qualify in another 10-15 years. -

The real question, JP, is whether you meet the standard to own a CTS-V. Although Cadillac doesn't state it in the official literature, I think you have to meet at least one of the following criteria: 1) have already retired, or at least don't work full-time 2) vacation in Florida multiple times each year 3) owned an F-body more than a decade ago At least, every CTS-V owner I've met hits at least one of those. -
Props to you that you'll admit your mistake in the forums. A week after boasting a CL "score," most of us would try to hide our bad judgement if the project goes south. I think that nearly everyone here has been in your shoes at some point. "There's nothing more expensive than a cheap ____________" (fill-in the blank with "Rolls-Royce", "Ferrari," "Audi", or a number of other candidates) Every lesson has its price -- try to pay for it just once, though.

Yeah, it's the weekly G-Club meet, which brings out a mix of cars. Depending on what the radar looks like at 6:30, I might stop by QSL.
