for an adult, I would. Not sure about a younger rider, however, because they make smaller size bikes for them to learn on. It is very easy to handle, forgiving clutch, predictable brakes, so I guess I'd say it would be a good beginner bike. My only reservation is whether you'd feel comfortable in the forward-leaning position that low bars force you into. If you're interested, PM me and we'll set a time aside for you to come to the Hangout and ride it slowly around the park on pavement, gravel, and grass and you can get the feel of it and see for yourself if you would be comfortable with it. No obligation, of course. I think you'll find it pretty straightforward.... If you really got into motorcycles later, then you could step up to something newer and better suited to long trips and higher speeds. I would think that this bike could be resold in a few years for essentially the same price.

http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/wholeleftside.jpg I'm selling the last of my personal motorcyles. Now that I have a Polaris Slingshot, I just don't foresee much more motorcycling in my future. It started life as a 1982 Suzuki GS450TZ. I purchased the bike in the fall of 2010 from a CR member who was using it in a daily commute. At that time the mileage on the bike was not known, but the odometer showed 14,495. I gave it to an old friend who was a professional cycle mechanic who rebuilt it over a period of 18 months. Here is a partial list of the parts replaced: Both tires Sprockets, drive chain Front fork seals Front disc brake pads Rear shocks Front wheel bearings Handlebar/grips/bar-end mirrors Headlight/brackets/turn signals He made an intake, installed custom exhaust and header, cleaned and synched the carbs, performed complete tune-up. A new custom seat, rear tail section with taillight, and viper fairing were installed. He made new side covers from diamond plate flooring Wheels were refurbished by Wheel Medic. Kevin Clifford painted the side covers, tail section, and gas tank. The bike starts, runs, and drives without issue. Here is the thread I made when the bike was finished (some "before" pics are in the middle of the thread): http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101890&highlight=cafe Since I've had the bike back, it has lived at the Hangout and has seen little use, as I had other bikes. In three years it's seen 1800 miles and has been stored under cover. This spring I installed a new battery, and today it got an oil change, new filter, and safety inspection. I rode it 30 miles this morning and can verify it still can peg the speedometer without issue or drama. Odometer now shows 16,330, but is non-actual according to the title. I'm asking $2,400 on CR. For that you get the bike (clear title in hand), the original parts removed during rebuild (seat/tail section, turn signals, handlebars, side covers, full chrome exhaust) and an Aerostich cover (medium size, larger than the bike needs). I have a little less than $5,000 in the bike. Payment needs to be cash, or I will work with your lender. I will hold the bike for up to 30 days for you for a $500 non-refundable deposit. No trades. PM me with any questions or offers. Thanks!

Fri April 10th: interest in food, then Polaris meet?
Doc1647545523 replied to Doc1647545523's topic in Events
It was a solid turnout last night at Polaris Sonic. By 10:30 I'd say 50-60 cars. Little if any ricer drama. By midnight it really died down. Although it was still in the 50's, there was a chilly wind. Tonight, less wind but 10 degrees colder. It's hard to say if there will be a big showing, but the cars and bikes were certainly out in force during the day today. -
It's so nice now after the week's rain, I wonder if there's interest in meeting for eats somewhere around 8 or so, then heading to Polaris Sonic for a meet? I'm planning on bringing out the Slingshot. Jason's Deli? Wholly Joe's? Smashburger on 23?

Can you recommend an automotive AC specialty shop?
Doc1647545523 replied to williaty's topic in Passing Lane
Although they aren't a specialty shop, North End Wrench in Clintonville does A/C work that other shops can't. They did work on some of my older, unusual cars. I don't think you'll find techs more knowledgeable and skillful anywhere else in Columbus. CR member Crossle (Sean) is their lead tech. http://www.thenorthendwrench.com/ -
The Top is my favorite place for steak in Columbus. But that said, I don't think of it as romantic. I guess there's no accounting for people's varied tastes in such things. There's dark wood paneling, amber-colored plastic light shades, it's loud at times (sometimes live piano performances), and about half the patrons are retired. The view? There's a great view of the 1960's there. I'll be anxious to hear what you and your wife think. Bon appétit!

Refectory soups and salads are 5-10 bucks on average. Meat entrees run 35-45 mostly. Stay away from the wines and two people can dine for 120 ...... is this really too much for a special celebration meal? I would have guessed it was in line with Rodizio, M, Ruth's Chris, The Top, J. Alexander's. Admittedly, Cap City and a few of the other places mentioned would be cheaper. Oh, Mom, it was so sweet of him. To celebrate my graduation from nursing school, he surprised me and took me out to a romantic dinner at Cap City. I had the best Maytag Blue Cheese Potato Chips and their signature Meatloaf, and David had the Blue Plate Special. They had the Cav's final home game of the season on the big screen next to us. It was perfect.

Already got DOX SS. I thought that having a black one would identify it as mine (almost all of them sold so far have been red), but I guess the other couple of black ones are getting out pretty regularly around here. By summer, I think they will be common enough that nobody will even look twice.

Those are the taillights you're seeing (compare with my photos in post #1). The body panels are black/gray. I admit, the two models look nearly identical from the back.
-
Not a problem. What are your usual hours? When we get a decent day, I'll phone you to give you a heads-up and then come over if you're not busy and leave it with you. I'll just need you to drop me off back at the Hangout. Be sure to tell your customers that it's powered by GM.
-
Actually, mine is that color (black/gray). But no, I'm waiting for it to get a bit warmer. I've had it out a few times, but when I leave for work (around 5 a.m.), it's a bit chilly for me.

Clearly CR members have very different tastes in restaurants. No surprise there. My "favorite restaurant" or the place I might think has the "best" food would not be the same place I would recommend for someone looking for a special occasion, romantic restaurant for a truly epic meal you remember for the rest of your life. Those places become legendary. Maxim's in Paris, Las Brisas in Laguna, and the Ritz at Newport Beach come to mind. Once upon a time, Columbus had Marzetti's downtown, but that left with the dinosaurs. Nothing in Columbus these days compares. That said, I'm surprised no one has mentioned The Refectory. I think it's probably the closest we've got. David, if you want to give the wifey a really special dinner, you'll need to polish up, get on your best behavior, and go into The Refectory with an open mind and an adventurous spirit. Don't figure on meat and potatoes or an endless salad bar. Feel free to ask questions of the server. Glance at the menu in advance so you have an idea of selection and prices. I don't think you'll regret it. https://refectory.com/menus/

No worries -- that should polish right out.

Prolly not, since that's not a word. -
I'm not sure if AlexL has the time to do this at his shop (BPA), but if he can't do it, perhaps he can recommend someone. I suggest you PM him. He does great work. He might even have worked on a Supra before. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/member.php?u=3369

The "Im still talking about D. Wiggs 4 years later" thread

Thanks for the explanation. I always assumed the logo represented how waiting for Wiggs to deliver on his boasts was like waiting for nature to make a diamond. -
Nope. This is one of those rare weekends when CR doesn't have a car meet in Grove City or Urbancrest. What rotten luck.

I'll see if I can get one of these jalopies to turn over and fire up. Clay- I'll be coming from the north, but if you need a good meet up spot on the NW side for your cruise, there's that parking lot at Home Depot on Sawmill. :gabe:

Great seeing the fifteen or so CR members who braved the contagion and turned out. Good idea, Brian. FWIW, I stopped by Sonic on my way home and was surprised to see first about a dozen cars, then over thirty by 10:30. I guess everyone's anxious to get the winter over and done with.

Better get a bigger table, Wagner. Projected attendence just went up by ten.
