  1. That Supra's really amazing, Alex. Thanks for bringing it to the Hangout. I'm pleased we didn't get the predicted snow and that you made it back home fine on drag radials. We had 16 members turn out last night. Thanks to all for making it out.
  2. I know of seven members already planning on showing up tonight. If you also want to meet somewhere first to eat, feel free to post that discussion to this thread. Howald Industrial Park 320 London Road, Suite 101 (in Building 100) Delaware, Ohio It's the first building as you come down the drive. Questions/problems: Text me at 740-405-5565. All Columbus Racing members are welcome.
  3. You're always welcome, Mike. Only 9 of us there last night, but good times all the same.
  4. The wheels are impressive, although not really to my taste. I agree that the second version of the front wheels (the way you wanted them from the beginning) looks much better than the first try. It's definitely a head-turning car now.
  5. Let me alert you that there's going to be some waiting .... the place just opened two days ago and it's been packed.
  6. Already this morning at Cars & Coffee I got the request to open the Hangout. It seems most of us are tired of being cooped-up and want to walk around someplace warm and kick tires. If you also want to meet somewhere first to eat, feel free to post that discussion to this thread. 7. Scott plans the best rallies Rally North America events are bucket-list quality, and CR teams have competed every year. I highly recommend you consider signing up.
  8. Hard to find a good dually diesel that clean at a good price. As cold as it gets there, is starting any problem? My experience with diesels (owned about 15-20 of them) was all with the old ones, 1970-1985, and those needed block heaters to start if temps went below zero.
  9. 6speedonline.com is good for owners' opinions on high-end cars bringatrailer.com great entertainment if you're into offbeat vehicles
  10. We open Friday at 9:30 p.m. for the QSL guys as well as for anyone else who wants to hangout. See you there! Howald Industrial Park 320 London Road, Suite 101 (in Building 100) Delaware, Ohio It's the first building as you come down the drive. Questions/problems: Text me at 740-405-5565.
  11. That's seems like an awful lot of money for a watch. But given that you want to spend in that range, a couple of watches you may not have considered are a Grand Seiko or a Credor (also made by Seiko). A quartz Grand Seiko should start around $2500. The spring drive models (pretty impressive, highly accurate drive system) start around $4000. Special models and solid gold will run $6000 to $15k. The Grand Seiko is all about understated quality, perfection in a traditional package. Non-watch people will probably mistake it for a very shiny $150 watch. There are dress models, chronographs, and diver models. A retailer in Arizonia has a short YouTube description: Credor is more innovative, more about individual craftsmanship and bolder style. Credor starts around 4 or 5 grand and their new minute repeater is around $400,000, although you might get a military discount. Until fairly recently, these watches weren't retailed in the U.S., they were JDM. They don't command the recognition that a Rolex, Omega, TAG, A. Lange, Audemars Piguet, Ulysse Nardin, Ball, Breitling, Girard-Perregaux, or Patek-Philippe does, but that's not what they're about. I thought you might want to consider these and I doubted that anyone else would suggest them. I hope you find a watch you really enjoy, Mike!
  12. If you get four or more people to commit, I'll open the Hangout any Friday or Saturday night. Just let me know at least a couple of hours in advance so that I can turn on the heat and light the fireplace.
  13. By popular demand, we open tonight at 9:30 p.m. See you there! Howald Industrial Park 320 London Road, Suite 101 (in Building 100) Delaware, Ohio It's the first building as you come down the drive. Questions/problems: Text me at 740-405-5565.
  14. Since the thread is about Spring car shows, Import Face Off is the one I'm most excited about. It's 4-27-14 at National Trail.
  15. I don't know enough about power transmission technology to say whether our current infrastructure is more resilient or less resilient to this type of weather event. My guess is that today's equipment is more complex to restore when it fails. However, what I think I do know is that there was an outpouring of citizens "pitching in" to help neighbors, utility crews, and government employees back in 1978. It's hard for me to imagine many people turning over their snowmobiles and trucks to strangers these days. In the thread you'll see stories of how CR members' parents and grandparents made sacrifices to help with the community efforts. Also keep in mind that the Ohio National Guard and the Army Engineers were on the case as well. The military came in to do the "heavy lifting" to minimize deaths, but still 51 people died in Ohio as a direct result of the blizzard. There were many unsung heroes of this disaster.
  16. With our recent weather events and talk of the polar vortex and all, I thought some of you might enjoy the stories of CR members from the Blizzard of '78. Here's the thread I posted about four years ago: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=77147 Warning: I do most of the storytelling in the thread.
  17. I'm glad it was fun, but you'd need to play that clip at least double the actual speed for it to be even marginally exciting to watch.
  18. Indeed, the winter safe driving practice area is open.
  19. Okey, dokey. Four or more ..... I'll open at 9:30. See you then!
  20. Just for reference: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/50s_stude_lark_zpsae6687c4.jpg
  21. Hmmm. So far we have Nick, Grant+1, and a maybe from Ryan. I'll make the call on here by 7 so that folks can plan their evenings. Without more interest I'd lean towards leaving it dark tonight since snow's supposed to be moving in and I doubt we'll have many drop in on a lark if the roads turn crappy. Stay tuned.
  22. If you need this vinyl package for yours, I can make some calls for you: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Ohio%20Valley%20Rally/GodzillaGTR_zpseaca2b91.jpg

  24. Very nice, SJ. Have you broken the news to MAG yet?
