  1. (To Farkas) so, are you saying he's a lazy guy who runs marathons and keeps up his marine physical fitness requirements? It seems to me he's just asking for a fair measurement of body fat. Waist measurement is not a very good estimate, and if it's disqualifying otherwise fit servicemen and women, then it should be updated. To answer your question, I think if you went through what it takes to become a Marine, you might be a bit slower at calling a Marine "lazy" based on the information in the article. If he has low body fat, exercises regularly, and does his job well, I don't think he should be booted just because he's not an ectomorph.
  2. Perhaps you should serve in the Marines before being so critical.
  3. Beeeeeeennnnnnnerrrrrr, stahp! http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109714&highlight=koenigsegg Hint: use the search feature to check before reposting.
  4. Just got back. It was a great time today. The rain stayed away, although it was plenty hot. Although I took no photos, perhaps someone can post theirs. I was very impressed with the improvements at KilKare. The track was hooking well according to my friends who raced, they had the "pole barn pavilion" (as I call it) set up for eating and lounging with two large evaporative cooling fans, had a large food selection at low prices, even beer was $2. I saw lots of CR folks around. I hope you all had as good a time as I did. The next one will be back at National Trail on September 29th and will again feature autocrossing for those who'd like to give it a try in an inexpensive, low-pressure environment. Cliff (the organizer) told me that if attendance stays good, he plans to offer four IFO's in Ohio in 2014. When I receive the check for flier redeemption, I'll post the CR donation check as I did last time. Thanks to all those who attended.
  5. Yep, here's your info: http://driftstl.blogspot.com/2013/06/import-face-off-kil-kare-speedway.html We've prepped for groups, as we have a 65 car cap. This will help keep the day flowing and make sure everyone gets an equal amount of seat time, as well as down time to make repairs, cool down, and change wheels. Of course groups are subject to change but we will have the finalized lists at drivers meeting in the am. *You may get moved through out the day, but that will be at the discretion of Drift Staff. 6. How could you possibly class race? I thought ...http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=112662&highlight=anthony :gabe:
  7. I'll be on the patio at QSL as usual from about 7:30 until 9:30, then on to Sawmill. All are welcome to join me if you'd like.
  8. I encourage you to continue to profess your maaad love for me. :masturboy: There's always a "hotter version" just around the next corner according to the marketing departments, isn't there? I'll gladly line up against any hotter versions when/if they show up. And, as JEWTOYS indicated, Carpe diem!
  9. Congrats. I'm really wishing I didn't have to wait so long on mine.
  10. If you're not taking joy in your learning, might I suggest you're not doing it right?
  11. Thanks for the opinion, P, but it's actually the other Farkas who is the aesthetic director. Congrats! To anyone else buying one soon, keep in mind that FLYBYE on here is a sales rep and will take good care of you. Even if an LSx swap gave me more horsepower, less weight, and was a lower price, I still wouldn't do it. I'm not a purist by any stretch, but I think a swap is only appropriate if it improves the overall situation. After you've blown up 3 rotaries in your RX7, you can be forgiven for doing an LS swap. In the case of this car, an LSx swap IMO does violence to the spirit in which this car was created. Maybe I'm just being naïve here, but for me, the ethos of this car celebrates the collaboration of the best from both Toyota and Subaru engineering departments, something born out of homage to the AE86's from the 1980's, something to celebrate a balance and a joy of driving that seems to have been lost in the bigger, heavier, computer-traction-controlled, AWD, more powerful, sports cars we have today. I admit, I'm being more poetic than practical here, but I've driven and sometimes owned many of the legendary marques, and in my experience, much of the driving involvement lies more in the myth than in the metal. And putting an LSx in one of these cars would desecrate it in my mind.
  12. Showing (rain or shine). Don't forget your coupons! Don't have one? Print this: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/IFOflyerKilKare_zpsea41e9fb.jpg You still get your discounted admission and CR gets $2 when you redeem it at the gate.
  13. They're not the first to LS swap into this body. Not much appeal in that for me because of the increased weight. When paying someone to do the swap for me, the total outlay of funds is similar to what I'm already doing. And what Accelerated will produce should be about the same horsepower but lighter. Also, I'm relieved that WheelMedic agreed to come on board and handle the wheel and tire decisions for me as they've done in the past. Alex L was key to getting me in contact with Don at Accelerated, and Farkas is the aesthetic director for the project. I feel fortunate that the members and sponsors on CR are looking out for me on this build.
  14. I'd suggest adding the event to the CR calendar (by PM'ing Mitch or Nickey).
  15. What do you expect? They're COVERT.
  16. Well, I pulled the trigger today. Blue FRS, manual, no options, build date 6-21-13, hoping for delivery first week of July. Then, off to Accelerated to get the warranty voided. Hitting the streets of Columbus by this time next month, if all goes well. :masturboy:
  17. That looks excellent. I wasn't sure if it was on TV somewhere or in theatres, and when I Googled it I saw it was originally a kickstarter project.
  18. I thought the seat bolsters might be too aggressive for someone of my girth, but I felt comfortable in it. I was considering new seats anyway, but may not need that. I've narrowed it down to the FRS, but still haven't connected with the guys at Accelerated to see how much I'll have to set aside for the mods I want. Byers Delaware is selling at MSRP without any steep destination fee markup. If anyone finds any end-of-the-model-year deals (not likely for Scion) on the base model, please PM me. I'm looking for just the base model, manual, in blue. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/7894989012_75f9fce220_z_zpsce25951b.jpg
  19. It's not exactly late-breaking news, my friend. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1104855&postcount=12 http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111249&highlight=cars+and+coffee http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106834&highlight=cars+and+coffee You did have an internet connection down in Mule Town, right? There was also a thread in the Oven posted June 24, 2012 by the founder of the other C&C. Even with my knowledge of the Force, I have been unable to access that linky. Perhaps a mod may make it accessible for a few days for purposes of your enlightenment.....
  20. Might I suggest the Kitchen? Wait, that didn't come out just right ......
  21. Shaun, I hope you realize that we're just trolling you (mostly). There are some good guys and great cars at the events put on by the "other" Cars & Coffee crew. I give them credit that they invited people from a G8 forum. That's an improvement over what their attitude had been a few years back when they shunned CR members who came to one of their events to admire the cars and ask questions. I think Clay's C&C is much more friendly, and it seems that the other C&C is becoming more like ours, and we should take that as a compliment. Thanks for the pics.
  22. Meh. 1) It didn't have Clay 2) It didn't have Cordell It couldn't have been a C&C without Clay & Cordell. That's what the C&C stands for.
  23. Bump for this coming weekend. Coupons for discounts on spectator admission are available at SloMo, WheelMedic, and the Powell location of Advance Auto Parts. I also carry them with me at Sawmill and CR events, or you can print one from here: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/IFOflyerKilKare_zpsea41e9fb.jpg Besides your discount on the admission price, Columbus Racing receives $2 for every flyer redeemed at the gate.

  25. I usually leave around dark/9:30. If you need for there to be a crowd at HD already so that you can make a "grand entrance," then I wouldn't arrive until 10:30.
