  1. Perhaps will meet-up with you there sometime. I'm not going until early Saturday morning. If the weather is decent both days, I'm staying overnight in downtown Cincy. Are you planning on cooking there or buying food from the vendors?
  2. http://importalliance.org/?page_id=449 I'm planning on being there both days unless the weather just entirely sucks. I know that the SICC guys are going in force, but I think I'd rather cruise with CR folks/possibly go in together on some grilling. Anyone going?
  3. Many thanks to the CR members and others who used the Import Face-Off discount coupons for the summer event. Besides getting a $2 discount on spectator admission, by redeeming the coupon at the gate, you earned $2 for Columbus Racing's general budget. 40 coupons were redeemed, which resulted in this: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/checks_zpsbb7f7266.jpg I got the second check in the mail today also as some sort of rebate because of BWC safety, or some such thing. I think the State check should go towards CR's activities, too. Also, thanks to the CR sponsors who allowed us to distribute the coupons at their businesses: Wheel Medic Slow Motion Motorsports Advance Auto Parts (Austin's stores) Soon I'll be posting information about the next IFO which is to be back at National Trail Raceway on September 29 and will be passing out flyers to all those interested in attending. If you will allow me to place some of these coupons at the cashier area of your business, please PM me and I'll deliver a supply to you.
  4. Since you were talking about low cost, something you might want to consider if you have access to the ducts going upstairs is an in-line duct fan such as this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CQBKF9M/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 They come in many different varieties--some have AC cords, some need wired-in, some can be easily controlled with a remote switch or a remote thermostat. This may not be the total solution for you, but could be helpful in combination with closing downstairs vents/adjusting dampers/perhaps a small upstairs window unit. Some of the other solutions are better, but they're more expensive.
  5. After Steve's found you with his stuff, getting busted by the cops is the luckiest break a perp could pray for.
  6. Your gallery photos are so good that it saves me from having to walk around the show all day. Thanks!
  7. I think Monte Carlo Automobile has you guys in its sights with this one: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/1_jpg_900x900_q100_zps1fe02e4f.jpg "In the tiny nation of Monaco, home of the eponymous Formula 1 Grand Prix in the city of Monte Carlo, is a car manufacturer called Monte Carlo Automobile (also known as Montecarlo Automobile; also known as MCA). The marque’s newest vehicle is the Rascasse supercar, an impressively upscale 500-horsepower machine with an overtly nautically themed interior. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/4_jpg_900x900_q100_zps4ed5f1ea.jpg You might recognize the model name from the 18th corner of the Monaco Circuit (or perhaps from playing the Formula D board game we’ve told you about). The brand, and the car, is steeped in Monaco’s racing culture, and rightly so. The 30-year-old company sourced the engine of this exotic beauty from BMW (more specifically, Rolls-Royce), putting a 5.4-liter V-12 motor directly behind the passenger compartment. The engine is able to run on gasoline or hydrogen-enriched liquid propane gas. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/5_jpg_900x900_q100_zps3b699ac7.jpg It features a classic looking, worldly exterior suitable for a proper supercar. The front end, particularly the headlights, look like something that would seem right at home at Le Mans. The interior, on the other hand would look more at home cruising in the Mediterranean Sea. It looks decidedly nautical, with long wood strips throughout the cabin. The wooden helm—not to mention the dash and digital gauge cluster—looks like it came straight from a luxury yacht. Also, if the occupants prefer to pretend they’re sailing the high seas with the wind in their hair, the Rascasse features a removable hard top to let in the elements. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/6_jpg_900x900_q100_zps76b31406.jpg Other details are still scarce, but Motor Authority reports that the Montecarlo Rascasse will be limited to 15 examples and will cost about $655,000." Read more about the Rascasse, as well as the new Vuhl 05 and the Minerva JM Brabazon at Winding Road http://magazine.windingroad.com/issue/101/1?utm_source=Winding+Road+Weekly+Email+List&utm_campaign=5065a027f1-WR1017_9_2013&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_f40212f51a-5065a027f1-57620037
  8. Truckin does carpet installation, but he also helped hook me up with a good place to buy the carpet. He did the carpet in the office at the hangout.
  9. And to think that when the movie Rollerball was released in 1975, most of us thought it too dystopian to believe. Watching it now (or other movies such as Network or Brazil) drives home the point of how society has grown ever closer to what, 40 years ago, was our vision of the worst case scenario. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/rborig_zpsd918429e.jpg
  10. Very sharp. Black always looks great when it's clean ...... which usually lasts about 15 minutes.
  11. Never had those many tickets that fast, but here's a link to the basic rules: http://www.dmv.org/oh-ohio/point-system.php As you can see from reading the info, it depends on how fast you were going. Having the violations so close together used to cause the latter ones to count as double points, but I think that has now been revised. As was said by Jackson above, get an attorney if you determine that the consequences aren't acceptable to you. Good luck. P.S. One tip for your court appearance: revise the wording of your excuse.
  12. Where were you planning your appearance? I wouldn't want to miss it.
  13. Edit: I agree with Scott's post above. He posted while I was still "composing." There is some truth in what you say, but I put the pieces together differently. I know of at least two times that CR started a weekly meet location with controls on who attended, and each time it died off after a month because of too few people. The last one I know of was at NTB downtown when Dave and Derek were in the management there. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67641&highlight=ricers The bigger weekly meets that I'm aware of in the last five years all started with Honda/ricer guys posting on Facebook or on forums, and CR folk trickled-in to watch, because that's where the cars were. There were weekly meets briefly around Brice Rd. I'm not sure what killed that off. Someone from here organized one at the Meijer/Sam's Club on Galloway Road which lasted about a month. I believe Home Depot started this way, too. Meets that are hard to find or not near a freeway seem to have short lives. Polaris is nearly ideal, except it has pretty close scrutiny by the local police because the meets show up on security cameras which result in the landlord's security people phoning the police. The police who broke up the Circuit City Polaris meets said that nearly anywhere along Polaris Parkway where we go without prior landlord permission would result in a speedy closedown. I believe this was the case with Sonic/Kroger/TJMaxx/BestBuy/Circuit City@Polaris. Maybe it's time to approach QSL again. It's been about five or six years since that shut down, hasn't it?
  14. Yep, was there until popo made me leave. Then went to Circuit City on Sawmill until it was announced on the scanner that they were headed there to close it down, too.
  15. Does anyone know why the northwest corner of the parking lot at Marcus Crosswoods (north of Sushiko) stopped being the meetup place? Was it the same old cycle of too much trash, too much ricer stuff, then owners complain to police and everyone got booted? Those were big meets. Also, Austin (99StockGT) is the manager of a couple of Advance stores, one of which we used to have meets at (on US 23). I wonder if he'd have any interest in hosting this ricerfest. I can have it at the hangout, but I doubt there'd be much of a crowd wanting to come the extra 15 miles up Sawmill to stand around a parking lot. I can trust CR not to bring drugs and alcohol onto the grounds, but it would be hard to police the whole ricer crowd. I'm sure we'd eventually have heat from the ever-vigilant Delaware PD.
  16. It's actually looking like it might be dry tonight for a meet ...... Seems like it's been forever. Maybe see you out, Yasser.
  17. Great looking bike. So, you didn't move out of state afterall?
  18. Donation made. Thanks for representing, Joe. I hope that some other members can send at least a small donation Joe's way for this excellent charity. Even $10 is appreciated. Joe, you may also consider "selling" advertising space on your car in exchange for donations. I did that on the last rally and got generous donations from Thiel's Wheels, WheelMedic, SlowMotion, and Pickups Plus Cars. All of them provided good-looking vinyls for the WRC: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Rally%202012/WheelMedicclose.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Rally%202012/Thiels.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Rally%202012/Slomowindshield.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Rally%202012/PickupsPluswing.jpg
  19. Very nice car for the price. I'd keep in mind that with its age and mileage, you might need to throw thousands at it over the next few years. I hope not, but you might want to prepare for that.
  20. I think the car show registrations were around 50 from what I overheard, but there were people coming into the place and registering right up to 2:30 or so. As soon as the rain showed up on radar, a number of the classic cars left. They announced that the event raised over $1,000 for the charity which isn't bad considering this was its first year and is largely driven by the efforts of a couple of individuals, although the G Club works hard on the day of the event also.
  21. Good times, lots of cars, some of which I'd not seen around before. Thanks to the CR folks who stopped by to chat. It sprinkled the last hour of the show, but didn't rain until it was all over. The Century took 1st place pre-1999 JDM and I got a sharp handmade piston trophy. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/emoticons/champ.gif
  22. If we get a dry spell today, I'll head out to this. Jeremy's a good guy and this is a good cause. Thanks for posting it, Will. I hadn't seen anything about it.
  23. Great! Let me know the weekends I can borrow it.
  24. Don't act so surprised ... you knew from the second post that this thread was going to go south right out of the gate. After I read the first post, I said to myself outloud, "What this thread needs is for some fat guy to take a huge dump in it." No sooner than I had uttered those words did it come to me in a flash that I was that man. We all need to know our places here on CR.
