  1. Many thanks to the CR members and others who used the Import Face-Off discount coupons for the spring event. Besides getting a $2 discount on spectator admission, by redeeming the coupon at the gate, you earned $2 for Columbus Racing's general budget. 48 coupons were redeemed, which resulted in this: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/IFOcheck_zps658d06cd.jpg I will donate this check plus a matching amount to CR today. Also, thanks to the CR sponsors who allowed us to distribute the coupons at their businesses: Wheel Medic Pickups Plus Cars IPS Slow Motion Motorsports Soon I'll be posting information about the next IFO which is to be at Kil-Kare on June 23rd and will be passing out flyers to all those interested in attending. If you will allow me to place some of these coupons at the cashier area of your business, please PM me and I'll deliver a supply to you.
  2. If you don't find someone in Columbus to do it at a satisfactory price, PM me first and I'll send you to my chums at MD Transmission and get you the "Doc discount." There are a number of CR members who are satisfied customers and will attest to getting a discounted price there.
  3. Obviously a car that someone purchased new with the intention of keeping long-term and cared for it accordingly. Congrats on the find. Beautiful color.
  4. That little town of LaRue near the raceway isn't much today. You probably won't believe me, but it used to field an NFL pro football team, a world-renowned kennel which supplied dogs to kings and Presidents, and was the one-time home of one of the greatest athletes of the 20th Century, an Olympic gold medalist in the pentathlon and decathlon who played collegiate and professional football, professional baseball, and professional basketball! It's hard to imagine all that happened in that sleepy little jerkwater town, but I knew people who saw it all. Sadly, not many souls of that era remain. 5. http://www.buckeyetriumphs.org/BCD/bcdindex.htm The weekend of May 18 & 19 is absolutely FULL of car activities, but in case you don't have your fill by Sunday, there's the Ohio British Car Show at Quaker Steak on Sunday 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Admission is free. Car show entries are $15 on the day of the show. Further info on the website. Lots of great photos from prior years are here: http://www.buckeyetriumphs.org/BCD/2012gallery.htm
  6. That's awesome, Jason. I agree with you, people know that Brian's great at this type of over-the-top service and follow through. Those are great numbers on a truly beautiful car.
  7. If you've got to buy things for yourself on your own birthday, well, I guess I feel sorry for ya, bud. :fa:
  8. Edmonds.com never ceases to entertain. Here are a few of their comments: It's every supercar cliché and every bad idea Lamborghini ever had, stuffed into one overpriced showcar......... It's the worst thing out of Italy since fascism. It's not like we even have to worry about whether we like the car or not, as there were only three made, and they all sold (3.9 million dollars each, plus tax). I think that some of you haters would change your minds if only Clay could test drive one and make a thread about it.
  9. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/images-3_zpsb51ed180.jpg No, do, or do not. There is no "try."
  10. I rather like it. I doubt that I'd feel it was worth the additional $$$ over an "ordinary" stock Lambo, but I find the overall look appealing. I would want to do some performance mods, such as swapping-in hexagonal exhaust tips and of course converting to RWD for additional performance and handling.
  11. Your performance was classic, Jon. :grin2: I wonder how long you can stay under the radar, though.
  12. I will probably stop at Quaker at 7:30 for the little show there and for some ribs. Maybe see you on the patio.
  13. But oft, in lonely rooms, and 'mid the din Of towns and cities, I have owed to them In hours of weariness, sensations sweet, Felt in the blood, and felt along the heart; And passing even into my purer mind, With tranquil restoration:--feelings too Of unremembered pleasure: such, perhaps, As have no slight or trivial influence On that best portion of a good man's life, His little, nameless, unremembered, acts Of kindness and of love. -William Wordsworth 1798
  14. The forecast for 10 p.m. is 62 degrees and a breeze. Sounds good to me. I'll have to move some ladders and paint cans that fell on top of the Bentley, but if there's enough battery left to turn it over, I'll bring it out tonight.
  15. Sharp car, Cody. It's definitely convertible season -- enjoy!
  16. Steve wants to come by the Hangout at noon on Saturday. Any interest in going to lunch early after Cars & Coffee, then cruising to the Hangout? Steve will have copies of his first three novels available for signing.
  17. I'll see if I can get one of those old junk motorcycles to fire up and ride there.
  18. You've reached baller status when the valet directs you to park your car directly opposite the front door of the establishment and tells you it's okay to lock your car and keep your own key. "We'll keep it right here so you won't have to wait when you pick it up. That's a beautiful car, sir, we'll keep a close eye on it for you." That's always worth a "folding favor" as far as I'm concerned. :fuckyeah:
  19. I always felt the world needed the love child of Mommie Dearest and The Deerhunter. But, of course, I'll see it anyway.
  20. Steve will be do a book signing for the public at Ohio Wesleyan's Alumni Weekend on Saturday, May 18th around 3 p.m. He's fine with having interested CR members come to that event at the OWU bookstore. However, at noon he'll be at the Hangout exclusively for CR members to meet and to have a book signed, if you wish. That's the weekend for Mo-power at NTR, and Saturday night is the Newark Meet. However, this is middle of the day and would be a good stop after Cars & Coffee.
  21. As an update to this thread, I washed the Bentley yesterday for the first time since I got the 22PLE applied in February. For starters, the fact that the car stayed clean for two months with just regular dusting and one detail spraying tells you that the coating works well to prevent dirt from sticking to the surface. It was a much simpler wash than usual, too. I sprayed the car with a soap/water mix, then went over the front of the car with a cloth to help remove bug splatter, then just rinsed the car with water and dried it. It looks great, as if it had just been waxed/sealed. I'm very happy with 22PLE so far. Thanks again, Addison.
  22. It's a beautiful morning .....I'll see you all there around 9:30.
  23. I'll be there, probably will end up inside eating ribs.
  24. I'd like to go to both, but I've got a lot of work to turn out this weekend for the courts, so I'll have to see how it plays out. I've got nothing to race, as I don't think I'll ever beat the time I had at D42 before it starting spitting snow! If I don't go back to Wilmington after today, maybe I'll set up a hotdog stand at NTR Saturday .... that seemed to be a hit last time.
  25. Nick and I are heading over this morning starting at 10 from the Hangout. If anyone else is going today and wants to meet-up, text me at 740-405-5565. I might also go tomorrow after Cars & Coffee.
