9500ix is my current detector, and it's worth every bit of $550. This is a good deal for someone looking to upgrade.

Keep in mind that the best auto transport companies charge more than the discount ones. I can get you the names and contact info for some top companies that the high-line folks at MAG use for Astons/Rolls/Lambo, but they come at a big markup over what the average enclosed transport vendors will charge you. Why not consider driving the car cross-country and shipping the clothes and household stuff? Take a week or two and see the sights along the way?

Thanks for the pics, Nathan. Hard to believe that someone would track a Bentley though. What a moron. :dumb: -

I think you're going to see a good showing from CR at this event, Scott. This is right in our own backyard and it's scheduled at a time when car events start thinning out. I spoke with a few people at Sawmill last night who will be registering. Mods, would this be better placed in the meeting and events section, perhaps with the dates added to the title? For those who may not know, Scott is a founder of Rally North America and has been the key organizer of the national rallies for the last five years. He knows how to stage a great rally! CR, if you want to try your hand at rallying, this is a great start. See me if you want to learn more. -

Bump to remind folks that the car show's today. -
I am no investment expert ..... far from it. I think you're doing the right thing to survey for opinions, but when you get guidance from an investment expert, weigh it heavily compared to the advice you get here. That said, I'll throw in my 2 cents' worth on these points: Your huge risks in the past have paid off. Don't fall into the trap of thinking that your luck (or great business intuition, or whatever you believe it to be) will last forever. It doesn't. I've done well in gold and silver, but I wouldn't advise getting into it now with the idea that you'll be able to get your money out quickly with a profit. Although it could happen, the metals markets are generally overvalued right now, and it might take you a decade to get your money back. Putting all your eggs in one basket? It has some appeal at a gut level, but it makes a poor investment strategy. Hell, it isn't even a good gambling strategy.

For those who still aren't in the habit of checking the CR Calendar (in the blue shaded area at the top of most CR pages), Timmayfest is this weekend. I especially recommend the car show on Saturday. Details: Timmayfest car show at Quakersteak and Lube in Polaris. We try to separate cars by model/generation to the best of our ability to offer photo opportunities to those interested. When : Saturday June 8th, 2013 @ 10am - 4pm Where : 8500 Lyra Drive Columbus, OH 43240 Spectator admission: free Full details for the Thursday-Saturday events are on the website: http://www.timmayfest.com/index.php Thread from last year's events (scroll down for photos):http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=104196&highlight=timmayfest And their teaser video:

Sorry to hear. Not a kewl move on his part. I can't say I'm surprised, based on his intro thread: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103195 What's past is prologue .....

Congratulations and Best Wishes on your new lives together. -
Hi, Bob. I'm not sure that you got the best advice from your friend. Generally, this isn't the sort of forum to join just to sell a car. For example, there's a rule that you have to have a postcount of 25 before offering anything for sale. That said, perhaps some folks can post to this thread if they have advice on where to advertise your late father's car (as Humbler posted above). Although it's a longshot, there may even be someone who will see this intro thread and contact you if they're interested. Best wishes to you, and good luck selling the car.

:funny: I like. It reminded me of a TV ad from the 1970's for an Audi with a straight 5 cylinder engine (nearly unheard of at that time). It went something like this: Announcer: "Why did Audi decide to build a 5 cylinder engine for this car?" Engineer: (in a heavy German accent) "Because 6 is too many and 4 is to few."

I suspect that the algorithm which computes the mileage remaining uses a current and/or average mpg. If you turned the ignition off during refueling, it's possible that your low mpg since restart was skewing the "mileage remaining until empty" figure. If this was the case, then as you began driving the figure should have slowly increased. Also, I suppose it's possible that you didn't completely fill-up, or that the fuel gauge isn't accurate. BTW, I know nothing about cars.

Yep, there's three of these for us this year! http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/emoticons/party0024.gif Sunday, June 23rd, 2013 - Xenia, OH - Kil-Kare Raceway LOCATION: Kil-Kare Raceway in Xenia, OH - http://www.KilKare.com DATE AND TIMES: 6/23/13 from 11am to 6pm. Car show registration from 10am to 12pm, judging begins at 11, awards ceremony around 5:30. Race registration starts at 10am, heads up qualifying at 12:00 and 1:00. Eliminations at 2:30, 3:30, & 4:30. *tentative EVENT ACTIVITIES: Car/truck/bike show, 1/4 mile drag racing, Usaci double points stereo crank it up contest, drfiting, burnout contest (time permitting), vendors, Deatsch Werks Fuel Pump Giveaway to Best Engine Bay winner, pit midway, and live DJ. PRICES: Spectator $17 ($15 with flier at gate) Coupon only good for spectator admission. Test and Tune Drag Racer $30 (open to any make/model) Competition Drag Racer $30 (imports and sport compacts only) Burnout Contest FREE Stereo Crank It Up Info: 479-365-8722 or http://www.SoundOff.org Drift registration info: http://www.DriftSTL.com I've got the flyers to serve as reminders of the times/dates of the event, and they include a $2 off coupon for spectator admission (but not race or show entry fees). Just stop me and ask for the flyer. I'll also place a supply at Advance Auto Parts in Powell, SlowMotion Motorsports in Sunbury, and Wheel Medic in Columbus beginning in June. Also, you can print a copy of the flyer (black and white is ok) from this link and use it as a coupon at the gate: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/IFOflyerKilKare_zpsea41e9fb.jpg Besides getting $2 off every spectator admission, Columbus Racing gets $2 for every coupon used at the gate. We got more than chump change from the last one: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=112184 and I'd like to see this grow to 300-500 dollars per event. With that income, there'd be enough to do a free track rental once a year. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/IFOflyerKilKare_zpsea41e9fb.jpg

It's supposed to be slightly warmer tonight (maybe 55 around 10 p.m.), so I wonder if anyone would be up for some dinner at Blue Ginger around 8:30 p.m. and then Sawmill at 10? Middle of a holiday weekend is often slow at Sawmill, but it's a hard thing to predict.
-
Thanks for serving, Tom, and welcome to CR. I hope you get the chance to make it out to some meets and track days when you return.
-
Sawmill 10 p.m.: 49 degrees, wind 10 mph, wind chill 45 degrees take your sweater!
-
If that's the major difference, then it's not worth the $6000 premium to me. I actually prefer a cloth interior and my own Garmin, and there's a good chance that it would get racing buckets anyway. I presume that the performance shops don't care if they get a Scion or a Subie as a donor car, although I'd need to research that. I'd also have to see if the appearance mods Draco has made would be fully compatible with the power/handling upgrades these shops offer. I think his car is nearly perfect with the changes he's made, although I may need a different tire/wheel combination to complement a major build. Lots to consider before trying to scrape together the funds.....

I really, really miss your humor, Norm. no homo

Does anyone have a ballpark price estimate of what a shop such as Crawford or Accelerated Performance gets for one of these built monsters?
-
Thanks. Speedo edited because on public roads, I suppose.

Crawford BRZ: 430 hp on pump gas, 480 hp on E85
