  1. QFT There should be a big turnout in New Carlisle, 415 N. Main St. tonight beginning at 9. The Columbus scene has been pretty sketchy over the winter, but the Springfield/Dayton/Marysville meets have been pretty regular and well-attended when the weather's decent.
  2. Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/RedRockRidge.jpg
  3. It's a very impressive car and you've always had it looking sharp everytime I've seen it.
  4. Happy B-day, Scott. Now that the weather's breaking we need to get some CR meets going.
  5. If you can be patient for 6-8 months, and if you can afford to lose the money, now is the time to buy IMO.

  7. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/jeep%20with%20cans_zpsz87mnhqo.jpg Gives a little more range, mebbe 125 miles or so, between fuel stops.
  8. Don't be absurd. Farkas would never do something as impractical as paint a Jeep black.
  9. No. The only external mod will be the mounting system for the auxiliary gas cans. Pickups Plus is installing it Thursday. Any other equipment that needs to be outside the Jeep will be lashed to the luggage rack. I'll post a pic with the gas cans in place.
  10. I stayed in the King Suite at the LeVeque a couple of weeks ago when Lewis Black played at the Palace, just a few steps away from the LeVeque. The building is amazing, but the King Suite left a lot to be desired -- cramped bedroom, plastic doodads posing as "decor" and to top it off, a Jersey cowhide throw rug in the kitchenette, chosen, I suppose, because it was black and white. I guess we're still Cow-lumbus. My review of it on Trip Advisor: https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g50226-d10507713-r560913559-Hotel_LeVeque_Autograph_Collection-Columbus_Ohio.html#CHECK_RATES_CONT
  11. I respect your opinion and I agree with most of what you've said. However, I was surprised at the above comment about the feeling that something is missing without the power upgrades. 310 horsepower in a 2200 lb car seems to me would be a lot of giddy-up. But then again, the "feeling that something is missing" is a very subjective thing that stats cannot prove or disprove. I'm anxious to see what you think if you choose to test drive one. And, if what I understood from Rob is correct, even someone of your height can fit in one. I will leave it to Rob to answer those questions when he posts to the thread, although I'd be surprised if anyone will be allowed to poke around the Car #1 before it goes to One Lap in May. I hid the answer to this question in the first sentence of the first post in the thread. I believe it's the 2.3 L, Ford Ecoboost, but Rob would have to give you the details on that.
  12. Over the last few months CR member Rob Fields (rfields) has been sharing with me plans that he and his father have for building a limited-production car for track and street use. You may know Rob from his company, GoodAero https://www.facebook.com/GOODAero-211982355495988/ Last week he updated me that the first of five pre-production models is near completion and slated to compete in One Lap of America this May. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/cardinal/cardinal_zpsiwwnrmov.jpg On paper it is a very impressive car, even in base form, with a street trim weight of 2200 lbs. It accepts most drivetrains which allows power upgrades from the standard 310 hp up to 785 hp (with an Edelbrock supercharged crate coyote motor). I love the styling of the Cardinal and am considering buying one of the pre-production cars. All five should be complete and on the streets by the end of the summer. The philosophy has been to have all of the wear-and-tear or easily damaged components commonly available through either Ford or from the aftermarket. Specs of the base Cardinal are here: https://fieldsautoworks.com/cardinal/ The price of the remaining pre-production cars are just under 50k, with upgrades priced very reasonably. If anyone here on CR thinks they may have an interest in this car, post to the thread and I'm sure Rob will see your post, join in the discussion, answer your questions and get you in the loop. I believe his plans are to bring one or two of these to Cars & Coffee at some point this spring/summer. Feel free to tell me what you think so far. I'm anxious to see how it competes in May and to go for a test drive. More information about Rob, his father, and their company can be found here: https://fieldsautoworks.com/

  14. Thanks everyone for the recommendations. Right now it's looking as though I won't need an inspection, as the seller and I seem pretty far apart. Grant: There are plenty of homes for sale that meet your requirements. The sticking point for me has been something that already has a large car storage building or at least has land where one can be built.
  15. I'm looking for a home inspector who would be very thorough and who is familiar with old (1871) homes. The inspection is going to likely be a long one and involve turning utilities back on, mold and mildew inspection, as well as the routine things. Prior recommendations I saw in old threads included Patch Home Inspection, Jerry Linkhorn, and Jim Troth. Any others? Any advice for me to help me get the best inspection?
  16. It started out with just a few cars, but then everyone went on to a meet in Huber Heights that had about 30 cars for an hour, then dwindled down as the wind came up and it got cold. The Bentley got the carbon blown out of it when a Subie wanted to race on I-70 on the way home. Not an epic evening, but accomplished the goals of getting the car exercised.
  17. Yep. It's been a minute since I've talked with this crowd, and the big green machine needs to stretch its legs a bit.
  18. It's so variable, I'd hate to try to predict. I've seen it go until dawn in warm weather when there was racing. If it gets windy and people get cold, they will adjourn to a restaurant. If there isn't a large showing early, it won't be more than three cars. Roll the dice. Or look at the Facebook page--sometimes that will give you an idea if there are many people out and what's going on.
  19. In case you need a street meet fix to get you through until spring, there's a hard-core, meet-almost-every-night, weather-be-damned, group who is putting on their Friday night meet tonight beginning 9 pm at the Save-a-Lot at 2105 E. Main Street in Springfield. Mostly ricer-check Some actually race-check Junk yard cars with nitrous-check Food nearby-check Bentleys welcome-check What's not to like? https://www.facebook.com/events/2002013776703636/
  20. Well, it certainly offers a unique racing experience. As I've said many times, it's the only track where I've seen drivers in the staging lanes drinking beer.
  21. I'm surprised by the 12" touchscreen and the rotary shifter. Those don't bother me, but I don't think of those as selling points for the average new truck customer.
  22. For a number of years, there was very little in the new car world that got me excited. Then came the new generation of Mustangs, then the Hellcats, now Camaro joins my short list of new cars I really like. BMW, Benz, Audi, Jaguar have nothing in their current offerings to even vaguely interest me. How things change.
  23. This summer, RNA will be rallying the western realms of US Highway 50 in Colorado, Utah, and Nevada. Thirty spots are already reserved by rally veterans planning to attend, and fifty spots are open to the public. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/25443011_1634158599956662_551153113988366302_n_zpspq7ynoal.jpg https://www.rallynorthamerica.com/events/route-us50-2-2018/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/1325910830887659/ There are dragstrip and road course events, and MavTV will be filming for a series to be aired in Spring of 2019 dedicated to Rally North America and this specific event. This rally will sell-out when it reaches the capacity of 82 teams, so don't delay. Here's your chance to Drive the American West, experience breathtaking scenery on roads carefully planned to maximize the driving experience Compete in a national rally, do hot laps on a road course, drag race at an NHRA sanctioned raceway at 4600 feet elevation Participate in an event documented by a five-episode series on national television Be part of raising money and awareness for our charity, the Concerns of Police Survivors, serving the needs of the families of fallen law enforcement members. 2018 is the year when Rally North America is expected to surpass the million dollar mark in funds donated directly to charity. Over a dozen CR members have participated in past RNA events and can attest to what a never-to-be-forgotten experience each rally is. This is a great opportunity to do one of your bucket list adventures at a low cost. I hope to see many of you out West this summer!
  24. I'll take it. PM me or text me. I have cash and can take delivery this weekend. 740-405-5565
