Break out a Bentley manual (or something better than Haynes and Chiltons) if you have one and check the Ohms readings off the primary and secondary side of one just to make sure it's within spec. Have you checked the harness for breaks or chaffing?

True packaging has always been a problem with OHC. Don't get me wrong the LS series motors are a great base, and a prime example of the KISS principle. OHV motors won't be going away anytime soon. But just like anything else, there is always room to improve.

^^This for sure. The acetone being water soluble will work well. Especially for the A/F drum. It can cut the oil as well. Use the Simple Green or Purple Power first, then the acetone to finish. It'll carry off what's left of the water and dry quickly. I wouldn't leave it sit for too long though. They will eat the lining out of the drum and start to rust. Agitation will also be your friend here. Keeping the liquids moving will help tons.
