  1. That's cool! Would love to see the Fam '52 in person, and we have a vintage truck category. Message me what her name and program are and I'll check up on her periodically.

  3. It's not what you asked for, but I'll take a minute and plug my show coming up in a few weeks. Tolles Career & Technical Center. October 2nd.
  4. Apparently they have reopened as Pacemakers Outlaw Dragstrip. Looks like they are going to be specializing in the no-prep stuff. Makes sense to me based on the way things are going. No prep, and no timing system makes it cheaper and easier.
  5. Yo mama so fat, if she buys a fur coat, a whole species will become extinct.
  6. Yo mama so fat, when she wanted to get baptized they had to do it at Sea World.
  7. At school one time way back a class did an experiment where they de-rusted a car frame using electrolysis. They made a pool using wood framing and visqueen. It was big, but shallow since the frame isn't very tall. It was a neat experiment. Here's a video explaining the process. Another guy uses the same process to clean up rusty motorcycle gas tanks. You're moving the iron oxide from one piece of steel to another using electricity and chemistry.
  8. When I bought my truck from Arizona the dealership handled most everything. I had my choice of where to pay my taxes, Ohio or Arizona. However, they could not release the car to me directly without the taxes being paid. If they were releasing the car to a shipper, then it wouldn't have mattered. Phoenix is 1% higher than Franklin county, so I would have paid the tax here if I could have. Guessing you'll get a PA title when you buy it, then will have to convert it to an Ohio title.
  9. Ohio short film production seeking 1950-’69 cars/trucks for coming of age romantic comedy. The film is called “The Summers of Love” and it takes place at a campground in 1969. It stars two adorable 8 year olds. We need your car or truck to populate the campground. Your vehicle can either be static, or it can drive through the campground. You can even be an extra if you’d like. When: Monday August 16 and/or Tuesday August 17 Location: 26780 Chapel Ridge Rd, South Bloomingville, OH Incentives: be on a professional film set, credit at end of movie, copy of movie when it’s done, free food and fun The writer/director, Brent Howard, had his most recent film play at an Academy Award qualifying film festival in Los Angeles. 10. My way of thinking might be changing a little bit on this. With an hour plus commute each way, the auto drive feature of the Tesla becomes appealing. My coworker who has the model 3 has commented a few times that since he got the Tesla he has noticed that he is not as fatigued when he gets to work in the morning and home in the evening. Also, your relative is young and not supporting a family, so a somewhat fun/impractical car kind of is an option. I'm not saying it's the smart move, but most everyone on this site has bought a car at some point they shouldn't have because fuck it, why not. Once he has a house and a family to take care of, a splurge like a Tesla probably isn't in the cards until much later, so why not do it now while he can get away with it? It's not the smart move, but it's the fun move. This is based on a few things though. 1) He loves his job and is planning on being there long term. 2) He loves where he lives, and is planning on being there long term. 3) He has the finances to make this a viable option. If he's tied to those things, then the commute is simply going to be part of his life for the foreseeable future. If he's going to be spending 20ish hours per week in the car he may as well be comfortable and driving something reliable. If he can afford the Tesla then why not? Are there more efficient options, hell yes. Are there better options, hell yes. Are there cheaper and better options, hell yes. If he's making great money and isn't sitting on a shit ton of debt why not? If the EV aspect becomes a problem, or the financial aspect becomes a problem, there is a decent market to sell it.
  11. If he's at 150k now, and pounding miles on at the rate of 1000 per week, that means he'll be at 200k in a year. I don't know crap about the long term reliability of the Scion. I have a friend with an older Leaf that has a significant commute (100 miles a day) and he has severe range anxiety. Especially in the winter when he has to run the electric heater and it shortens his range even more. Another coworker has a Tesla model 3 and loves it. He's got a similar commute but no range anxiety. If he doesn't need to haul a lot of stuff, I'd sell the Scion and pick up a used Honda Fit to pound miles on. Honestly I hate commuting long distance to work, so my first thought would be to move closer to work and get part of my days back rather than spend them driving. Before I started teaching I had a 1.5 to 2 hour commute each day depending on traffic. Now I'm 12 minutes from work. Getting almost 2 more hours each day was magical.
  12. Shit yes. This will literally be the first time I've done an oil change on the dragster for less than $50.
  13. https://www.woot.com/category/sellout?ref=w_ngh_so_10 Today only until they sell out.
  14. As a high school teacher I see kids do dumb shit on a regular basis. It's part of being a kid, we all were at some point. I definitely support making this a learning moment. I agree with Gillbot that grounding doesn't really work in my opinion. It is a generic punishment that has nothing do to with the lesson you're trying to teach. I love Joe's thought that she has to help fix the car. I don't think I would go as far as damaging the replacement parts to make it harder (I think that might backfire on you), but I like the idea that she learn how much effort it takes to make it right. If she has a job, then she should have to pay for the replacement parts and help install them. If they don't match then you can try having her spray them. They won't be completely right, but maybe having a slightly off color fender will irritate her enough that it will be a reminder to think twice before doing something stupid again. I think part of growing up is when you start thinking about the consequences of your actions before you do them. She's learning. Nobody was hurt apparently. I would not just let insurance take care of it though. She'll learn that the consequences are a few hundred dollar deductible and that's it.
  15. I have a friend looking to get back into the financial sector. I'll let you know. Thanks man!

I'm out of town this weekend for a family reunion, but I'm hoping to be back in time for this.
  18. Have fun Doc! Always love the pictures and stories when you come back from these.
  19. If I'm around I'll being the Electraglide out. It's really NOTHING special, but it's for a good cause.
  20. Now this has me thinking and wondering if there is a radio head unit that would incorporate GPS tracking. You could get satnav function at the same time as getting GPS feedback. I'm sure someone make a kit to install a modern double din radio. Sorry, I know that's not what you're asking about, it just got the gears turning since I don't like the radio I put in my truck and I'm going to be changing it out soon.
  21. I use Republic for my cell service. The plans are pretty cheap ($20/month or $200/year). I don't know which network they are on, but there are lots of old android phones out there you can use. I'm sure I have an old one laying around you can have. I suppose you could basically wire the charger to the car battery and keep everything charged up. Even when the car is shut off it would work until the car battery goes dead. I was thinking a hidden kill switch on the fuel pump or ignition would work pretty well too.
  22. That would be greatly appreciated. Let me know. If I need to I can make a road trip. I found another flat of shells online yesterday and ordered them immediately. That one will get me into a more comfortable place that I won't have to flake out in the middle of the trap league because I don't have any ammo. One of the guys in the league found a place selling primers that have been pulled from shells, but it's 16,800 primers for $1500. If he buys them I'm going to buy some of them from him.
  23. Thanks for all the feedback. For the moment I think I'm going to wait. I have been struggling to pick up shells for trap shooting. I'm doing okay for the moment, but as a hedge I'm hoping to be able to start reloading. As such I have bought all I can right now to reload 12 gauge, but primers are the bottle neck right now for everyone. Doubt anyone has any laying around, but if anyone does I am willing to buy or trade small pistol primers for shotgun primers with cash going your direction. The nice thing is if I pick her up a 12 gauge I can reload for her as well, and if 12 is a little too much, I can tweak the load to make it more friendly.
  24. Brown Wood sales is my go to.
  25. There are some private rental sites you could check to see if anyone has one listed. https://www.twistedroad.com/ https://www.riders-share.com/
