  1. In for details, looking for riding destinations the wife and I can take trips this summer.
  2. My belts are out of date. Otherwise I just need to replace fluids and I'm good to go.
  3. I heard the term Lawnmower parents a while back. http://www.inquisitr.com/1535202/here-come-the-lawnmower-parents-a-breed-that-is-more-aggressive-than-helicopter-parents/
  4. Check with Gregg Hansel out at Tolles Career & Technical Center. He might take it on. You should be able to find his contact info on the school website. http://www.tollestech.com
  5. I misinterpreted what you were saying then. Many people will look at this situation (and all the similar ones before and after it) as irrational. And to them it is. I was just saying that one persons irrational act is another persons rational act. Again, I do not condone their actions.
  6. My assumption is for every one of these attacks, the attackers do not consider their actions to be irrational. They believe what they are doing is the right thing. Either for religious or political reasons they are the good guys in whatever war they are fighting. We think of the Germans and Japanese in WWII as the bad guys, but they were fighting for their country. They were patriots. From their point of view they were fighting against the bad guys (us). As long as we look from the outside in (from our point of view), we'll never see what they see. Their actions are completely rational to them from their point of view. They are defending their way of life. They cannot stand against us directly so they lurk in the shadows and strike when they have the opportunity. We did the same in the American Revolution. We violated the rules of honorable warfare by targeting officers and by not going toe to toe with the British solders. By no means do I condone their tactics. I am revolted by these attacks. But to look at the overall climate only from our point of view will guarantee these attacks will continue, and they will only get worse.
  7. So we know that Cali is off the table. You're asking whether you should take a pay cut to jump to an industry you would enjoy working in? If the numbers work out I probably would ... in fact I did. In the long run I am probably making more now than I would have. Most days I like my job, so I'm happy with the move. Since you are even asking I'm assuming you have run the numbers and it's doable. I would lean toward taking the opportunity.
  8. Two words ... ear plugs. Or a helmet.
  9. Hell man, at least take the second interview. Find out what kind of package they are offering, and figure out how far you can push them. Living out there would certainly not be ideal, but you're young enough to take some risks in your life. Move on after that with the NHRA on your resume and the contacts you will make. Rent a place out there so you're not tied down and can move whenever is right for you. It's a stepping stone, nothing more.
  10. Not sure about 3.8 stuff, but Eric Grimes is my go to guy. Great Machine is the business. Last I talked with him they were moving shops from the west side to the east side.
  11. In and Paid Now to put in for the day off. Thanks for setting this up. I really enjoy these track days
  12. Passed along your craigstlist add to a kid here at school. He's been pestering me to buy my Impala for a year now.
  13. Craigslist ad has expired. I know of a couple people that might be interested, is this still for sale?
  14. I was thinking a small cooling fan. At first I thought an exhaust fan, but that would pull dust into the box. If you had an intake fan the air would exhaust out the front around the sanding disk and move the air away from the inside of the box. I wonder if you could get away with mounting blades/fins on the sanding disk and moving air out the front with the motion you are already making. If you can do that all you would need is some vent holes in the back to let clean air in.
  15. Oh man ... I'm sold. Those look like amazingly well designed tools with workers instead of manufacturing in mind. I just need to sell a kidney and my corneas to pay for it now. Maybe if I get into building custom cabinetry on the side I could start paying for that level of tools.
  16. Well, that escalated quickly. Maybe some time I'll try one, but I just saw the price tag. If I buy that I won't be able to afford to buy wood for any projects. I'll have to stick with pocket screws for the time being. I don't dislike pocket screws, but if there is a better way of doing things I would prefer to go that route.
  17. That makes sense. I can see that Dovetails are a slower process. I'm less concerned about my time than the final product. I like the look of the Leigh, but not sure I can justify the $600 price tag. I think the fixed spacing will work okay for me. I like the Domino though. I was planning on pocket screwing my face frames for the cabinets, but I might try doing some with the Domino. I can see that being a superior joint. Thanks!
  18. Quick question for you guys. I'm planning a lot of cabinet work and debating on a new Dovetail jig. The one I have now is okay (Dovetail Wiz from Peachtree), but I'm going to need a LOT of drawers and planning on using dovetail joints for the drawer boxes. I was looking at the website for Woodwerks and really didn't see many dovetail jig options. Has the dovetail been replaced by a better joint? Should I be planning on using a different joint for the boxes? I think the dovetail is kind of an elegant joint, and makes the work look better.
  19. Those looks great to me. joinery is critical if you're looking to do really nice work. I haven't had much of a chance to use it, but I recently bought a digital angle finder. http://www.amazon.com/iGaging-Digital-Protractor-Stainless-Bladed/dp/B00AEIB3Y0/ref=sr_1_6?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1456756790&sr=1-6&keywords=digital+angle+finder The difference between 44 and 45 degrees is huge. This way I can make sure to dial in the settings on the saws. Good blades make a difference as well. I'm not sure what blades I'm going with. Maybe Diablo. I'd love to get really good ones, but $100+ per blade is hard to justify.
