F&F7 - April 4th matinee showing after CC&C?
Richard Cranium replied to zeitgeist57's topic in Events
Sounds like fun, count me in. -
The school where I teach is looking for a manufacturing/engineering instructor. Teaching experience is not required, but preferred. Must be able to obtain an Ohio Career Tech teaching license (pass a background check and document 5 years? suitable work experience). You would be teaching 11th and 12th grade students in a lab setting. If anyone is interested PM me and I'll forward the posting to you.

I'm not sure of code ... Can you access the underside of the floor and move the gas line easily? A lot of places now have flex lines that might be easy to drill another hole in the floor and bring it up in a different position. Also, you might be able to unscrew the line from the fitting coming through the floor, screw an elbow on and then run black iron pipe down the wall above the floor to the corner, then attach your flex line to that. I assume a hard pipe run (even exposed) would not violate code.

I'm learning to TIG weld right now. I have a whole other respect for what you have taught yourself and the work you do.

Starting a new project....big vintage speedster
Richard Cranium replied to Jon1647545566's topic in Passing Lane
The inspiration pictures look like they are running straight sixes as well. Maybe the old ones are longer, but I think the cowl makes them look longer than they really are. With the cowl coming all the way up to and over the radiator it makes the engine look really long. I think you could use that to your advantage and use a modern straight six. Or is it a straight 12 and I'm only seeing half the exhaust pipes? -
Damn I'm jealous. Looks like an outstanding choice.

As for no prep racing, I thought the idea of running at the track in reverse sounded like a great idea. Starting from the non-prepped end of the track sounds to me pretty equivalent to a street. Traction will pick up toward the big end that way, but the launch will have to be soft because of the unprepared surface. I get that a traditional pass even on an "unprepared" track is not the same as the street (unless they strip the track bare). But I have to think there is a compromise somewhere. Hell, launch from back at the tower, that will be similar to a street launch. Simulate a street environment at the track. It can be done. Controlled environment for safety. Same type of surface .... They'll fucking hate it and won't do it because it's legal. There isn't the thrill if there is no chance of getting caught. -
I'm still getting used to the car. I'll ask to run single passes until I have more seat time anyhow.

I can't imagine a business turning away paying customers.

Always interested in a track day. 1/4 mile, 1/8 mile it's all good.

ticket for failure to yield to a stop sign
Richard Cranium replied to PRD2BDF's topic in Passing Lane
I've never heard anything about a 3 second stop in my life. Come to a complete stop, if no traffic to yield right of way to, then you go. 4511.43 Right-of-way rule at through highways, stop signs, yield signs. (A) Except when directed to proceed by a law enforcement officer, every driver of a vehicle or trackless trolley approaching a stop sign shall stop at a clearly marked stop line, but if none, before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection, or, if none, then at the point nearest the intersecting roadway where the driver has a view of approaching traffic on the intersecting roadway before entering it. After having stopped, the driver shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle in the intersection or approaching on another roadway so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard during the time the driver is moving across or within the intersection or junction of roadways. (B) The driver of a vehicle or trackless trolley approaching a yield sign shall slow down to a speed reasonable for the existing conditions and, if required for safety to stop, shall stop at a clearly marked stop line, but if none, before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection, or, if none, then at the point nearest the intersecting roadway where the driver has a view of approaching traffic on the intersecting roadway before entering it. After slowing or stopping, the driver shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle or trackless trolley in the intersection or approaching on another roadway so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard during the time the driver is moving across or within the intersection or junction of roadways. Whenever a driver is involved in a collision with a vehicle or trackless trolley in the intersection or junction of roadways, after driving past a yield sign without stopping, the collision shall be prima-facie evidence of the driver's failure to yield the right-of-way. © Except as otherwise provided in this division, whoever violates this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor. If, within one year of the offense, the offender previously has been convicted of or pleaded guilty to one predicate motor vehicle or traffic offense, whoever violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree. If, within one year of the offense, the offender previously has been convicted of two or more predicate motor vehicle or traffic offenses, whoever violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor of the third degree. Effective Date: 01-01-2004 -
I've never been a fan of the 2 into 1 exhausts, but it's purely aesthetic though. I just don't like the way they look. That aside, it does look like he is doing nice fab work.

1980 Pontiac Sunbird. Carburated 4 cylinder with a 4 speed manual. Got my first speeding ticket in that car the following year (100 in a 55). Other than getting pissed at me my dads first call was to our mechanic to ask if the car could really go that fast.

I remember going there in college when they had a huge Windows 95 release party. There was a band and everything.

GUN PARTS - (AR15, R700, Rings, magpul, HK, AMMO)

I'll take the USP 9mm magazine, and I'm interested in the laser if that one falls through. -
I used to install and remove underground storage tanks (gas, chemicals, diesel, etc...) I never did any pressurized tanks though. The permitting process was a mess, all I can say is good luck.

I like this idea for what you're talking about. I assume you could rebuild it for less than $2700, but if you replace all the nuts, bolts, gaskets (no Chinese junk) machine work if it needs some, etc... It always costs more than you think it will. If you really can get a basic crate motor for $2700 I think that would not increase the cost too much over a rebuild and you get a warranty and a running truck.
