Full face helmet is all I've ever used, but keep an eye on your neck and chest. Any exposed skin can get a sunburn from welding.

Might be worth hitting up a lawyer and running it past them. I doubt I would hire a lawyer though over $1100.

Reminder: Wilmington Mile Kick-Off Event this weekend
Richard Cranium replied to Tim Davis's topic in Events
Wish I could make it. This weekend is trashed. I'll be at the state fairgrounds all day Saturday with my students competing in the state Skills USA competition. I'd rather do C&C then Wilmington though. -
Wish I could make it. School stuff all day Saturday.

News story, not actual footage. http://flytheamericanflag.org/?p=12 cliffs: idiot Somali pirates attack a guided missile frigate in the dark thinking it is a cargo ship. They are now being held in "boat jail".

I've not read the thread, but I'll weigh in on the issue. I've dated 2 women with kids. It's definitely a different experience than a woman without kids. As with everything there are pluses and minuses. With both women I grew very attached to the kids. My first girlfriend with kids had two 8 year old boys who were awesome to play with and a 3 year old daughter that was cute as could be. Her daughter took some time warming up to me, but once she accepted me we were very close. When we split up I missed her kids much more than I missed her. My current girlfriend and I have been together 9 years now and I have watched her daughter grow up and graduate from high school and her son is a senior now. I'm not as close with her kids because they were a little older when we started dating. Now that they are getting past the age of being too cool to hang out with us we are getting closer. Things that I learned about dating a woman with kids. 1) The kids come first, always. While it can be annoying at times I'm not sure I would respect a woman who didn't take raising her children seriously. 2) Don't try to be a replacement for their father, it just confuses things. Let her do the parenting and just be content to be the boyfriend. Also be ready to back her up as a parent though since she is probably operating solo. She will appreciate that. 3) When you do get time away from the kids make the most of it. I don't think dating a woman with kids is for everyone. Depending on the age range you are dating in though you may or may not have many choices. Since I'm in my 40s if I want to date a woman without kids I probably have to be that creepy guy dating 20 somethings. Anyhow, I don't regret any relationship I've ever had, make the most of what you've got. I've kept my mind pretty well open and it's worked for me so far.

I'm torn on this one. I typically build my own, but normally recommend to people to buy. For me it's about being able to select each individual component, but that normally doesn't matter to most people. The drawbacks to building are that you do not get an OS or any other software to go with it. If you are planning on pirating then that's probably not an issue, but by the time you buy the OS whatever you saved on hardware is probably gone. The other issue is warranty work. If you build, you get a warranty on the individual components, but it's up to you to diagnose the problem and pay for shipping to send the component back. This can take a couple of weeks, during which you are dead in the water. If you buy an OEM system then any problems are theirs, not yours. These days prices are pretty low for the hardware. I don't think you save much by building. If it were me I would take a look at what editing software you want to use and pick a system from that. Of course you don't want the minimums, but that would be a good way to make sure the system fits what you want it to do. As for a desktop vs. a laptop .... I go with a desktop for anything I don't absolutely need portability for. With a desktop you have a LOT more video and display options (multiple monitors, different monitor sizes and resolutions, etc...) Laptops are great for day to day stuff (email, research, etc...) but a desktop is what I choose when I need to get stuff done. If you want to build hit me up, I've built more systems than I can count between my personal systems and custom builds for school. For that matter I'd be happy to help pick out a system or just talk options.

Any updates? Did you get the timing sorted out? I've been out of the loop the past couple weekends.

PM'd.

I have the stock hood from my Camaro. The paint is in pretty bad shape, it would be a challenge. I was saving it in case I ever needed it (and because it's not worth diddley). If you wanted to practice on it you're welcome to.

I wouldn't give $10 for it, but I'd definitely trade some home brews for it.

12.96 at 107 was best for me. Disappointing as I was hoping for mid 12s. I got much more comfortable launching the car though. Time for a 100 (maybe 150) shot and see what it will do. There is a lot left in the car, now if the driver can only keep up.

I'm leaving in a few.

That fridge would make an awesome kegorator.

Ditto here except for the autocross.

Never mind, it looks like they used 3 different parts over the years.

If you still have the car I'm in the market for a dash pad (I think that's what its called). Anyhow we were mounting the shift light last night in my car and needed to get access to run the wiring and it basically exploded when we pulled it out. We're going to try and plastic weld it for the moment, but I'd rather replace it. It's the big plastic panel on top of the dash that runs all the way up to the windshield. If you have yours, what color is it? Thanks.

I have the personal day approved, car did well on the dyno Saturday ... looks like everything is a go for me. Couple little details that would be nice to get done, but if they don't it won't matter too much.

Congrats! Glad to hear she's a driver again.

Leaving in a few. See folks there.

Interesting. I haven't heard about that. In for details if someone has them.

Carol is out of town tonight, so I'm game to head out somewhere. Low of 46 tonight with 20% chance of rain.

Ad is still down. I'm in for a picture of what this looks like. -
Woke up the Camaro last night. I'll be out, then Dyno tune. Will embarrass myself on the dyno and find out how little the car is making.
